{Lyra’s POV}

I was dragged through the forest like a ragdoll, branches snapping against my skin, dirt filling my mouth as I struggled to stay conscious. My limbs were heavy, my strength waning with every step they forced. Then, I was tossed—like garbage—into a hidden underground room, the air so thick with the scent of old blood and despair that it clung to my throat like poison.

Chains clanked, cold metal biting into my wrists. Not just any chains. These were enchanted—designed to weaken, to suppress. I could feel the magic draining me, sucking every spark of resistance from my body until I could barely lift my head.

"You’ll die tonight," Roxy sneered, crouching beside me with a twisted smile. “And when you’re gone, Aiden will be mine. I’ll erase you from their memories. No one will even remember your name.”

She spat the last words like venom, then stood and stormed off. The door slammed, plunging me into thick, suffocating darkness.
