Cassia’s Pov

“It’s too early for this. What’s your name?” he asked, his hands across his broad chest.

I wasn’t looking directly at his face, but I was very aware of his movements in case I had to choose between fight or flight. Although both would do nothing to help me if he advanced.

I gulped and bit my lip—a nervous habit—before whispering, “Cassia.”

Does he want to know my name before killing me? Or report me to the scary head matron? Why are our encounters always this crazy?

“Come with me,

  • Hybrid King: A Royal Affair    Chapter 39

Cassia’s POV It still amazes me how I found myself straddling the King upon his bed, his arms loosely wrapped around my waist as he rested against the headboard, in the deep middle of the night. His lips trailed along the side of my neck, each kiss slow and deliberate, while my fingers moved through his hair in a soft rhythm.Moments ago, I had been preparing to retire for the night with my friends when a guard appeared, summoning me to his chambers. There, I found a warm, scented bath waiting and afterward, a steaming cup of herbal tea he claimed would ease any soreness I might still feel. I had insisted I was fine, yet he made me drink it anyway. The tea left me relaxed and oddly emboldened, enough to try coaxing him into bed. But damn him and his unshakable self-control.“But Karl,” I murmured, gazing down at him, “I’m telling you, I feel no pain. And besides—” I couldn’t help but blush after seeing the print of his arousal, “you look more than ready. Why stop yourself?”He pulled

Cassia’s POV He looked at me again and asked that same irritating question.“You’re really not his recent hole?”“Last night’s recent, actually. But is that a problem?” I replied, my tone dripping with false sweetness. He looked as if I had just struck him. Without waiting for his reaction, I turned away to help arrange the seats.“Your boldness, Cassia,” Stellar said with a hint of laughter as we flipped the heavy chairs and wiped them down.“Or her stupidity,” Groth muttered.“Save it, Groth. What do you know about boldness?” She countered himI chuckled at their usual banter while tracing my fingers along the elegant carving on a white wooden chair. Then something shifted. I could feel him coming — even before Drakon spoke.“He’s approaching. Wipe the last one quickly.”I glanced up, already staring before I realized it. He nodded at whatever Reckon was saying, but his gaze was fixed on me. He walked surrounded by a few soldiers, each one instinctively taking position to secure th

  • Hybrid King: A Royal Affair    Chapter 37

Cassia’s POV Ever since I was little, I’ve hated being the center of attention. Now, it felt like I’d been thrown into the spotlight, tied to a chair and forced to accept the crowds scrutiny. As I cleaned the king’s room, I swallowed the knots in my throat to avoid crying. From the blood spots on the sheets to finding my torn underwear, it had been a lot, and thankfully, I was almost done. I tore my glare from the bed and the memories it held. “Stupid Cassia,” I muttered angrily, furiously wiping the vase by the side. How could I still be missing him? My heart relentlessly defending him even now. So shamelessly. “How sore are you?” His unexpected presence made me jump in fright. “Your Majesty?” I spun around to see him sitting on the bed I had been staring at earlier. “Come here.” He didn’t repeat the question. Did I mishear? “Your Grace, if you’ll just let me finish cleaning this area—” I rushed out, suddenly confused and nervous about why he wanted me to come closer. “How

Cassia’s POV “It doesn’t heal later?” He asked, genuinely unaware. Lazily stroking my back in a up and down motion.“You can’t just break a human’s bone and expect it to heal immediately.”I told him.He had to be joking. We were cuddling, naked under the sheets, and I wasn’t sure how we got to this conversation about how ‘feeble’ and ‘fickle’ humans can be. Ever since he saw the light bruise I had acquired on my wrist from where he pinned me, he kept asking questions about how we ‘heal.’Shrugging at my response, he said, “I’m not exactly known for my tolerance towards your kind, so I wouldn’t really understand how their body works. It would be so easy to break them in an interrogation room.” He mumbled the last sentence. Was he seriously ruining this serene mood with gory talks? “You’re seriously talking about torturing people right now?” I sprang up to confront him, only to wince at the soreness between my legs. Of course, I would be sore after exploding four times in a night, in

  • Hybrid King: A Royal Affair    Chapter 35

Cassia’s POV His teal orbs darkened, fierce and hungry, as he resumed the kiss with a renewed fire. I tried to match his pace, feeling his arms roam around my body, searching for the zipper of my dress. Without breaking the kiss, he ripped it apart, along with my brassiere, and latched his warm lips around my bud. I threw my head back, a loud moan escaping my lips as I cradled his head. “Karl,” I called out his name like a plea, my body unusually eager and wet for him, even though he had barely begun to touch me. “Get on the bed,” he ordered, releasing me with a soft pop. Trembling from pleasure and almost purring at his commanding tone, I obeyed. Settling into the bed, I watched as he approached me stealthily, like a predator savoring the sight of his vulnerable prey. His eyes blazed amber as he practically lunged at me, parting my thighs and giving my undergarments the same treatment as my dress. Heat pooled from my core as he placed the backs of my thighs onto his broad sh

Karl’s POV “Make sure to give him a few drops of blood in a few hours,” I directed Reckon, instructing him to keep the prisoner I just wound up a little alive. “We’ll continue this session tomorrow.” I needed to get back to Cassia. On my way to my quarters, Reckon interrupted, calling my attention to a possible spy we had captured a few days ago. I had told her to get ready for dinner and start without me,I’d join later. The vampire had claimed he would confess only to me, but upon my arrival, the idiot just laughed in my face, calling me an excuse for a king. He clearly wanted a quick end, but I had somewhere more important to be, so I let him go after a few punches. “My king,” Reckon said, stopping me from approaching the dining room. “What now?” I asked exasperated at this point. He jerked his head towards my shirt and I saw the crimson splatters on them. Shit! I needed to change… or just take a quick shower. I pulled my pants up, reaching for my shirt when her scent hit
