ELARA'S POV

"I'm sorry," she whispered. Again. And again. "I should have checked up on you sooner. I should have been here for you. I have failed you, Elara."

“No,” I whispered, brushing her back gently. “You didn’t. I made this choice. You were only trying to survive too. You were trying to fix the mess I made for you and father. If it weren't for me, my father wouldn't have gotten into an accident."

"Don't say that, Elara. It wasn't your fault that you fell in love."

Of course, it was my fault. Loving Damian, making sure everyone around me accepted him and failing not to see his betrayal even when it was happening right in front of me. All of it was my fault and I will keep paying for it for the rest of my life.

We cried in each other's arms, sniffing as pain consumed us. Her tears soaked the back of my hospital gown and I'm sure mine soaked hers too.

Then the door creaked open. Although I had lost my sense of smell and my memories were starting to get disorganised too—the doctor sai

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 255

Damian's POV Rage sparkled through my bones.Kael!I want to kill that bastard. I swear, I'm going to kill him.It was already enough that he made the Elders submit to him by manipulating and scaring them. But do I blame them? No. They are just trying to survive too.And now, he wants to humiliate me by telling me to fall on my knees before he can let Elara get healthcare at the infirmary.I looked at him, really looked at him and then back to Elara, who was slipping in and out of consciousness at intervals. My heart pounded and an overwhelming fear gripped me. She might really lose her life at this rate—because her pulse is really weak.“I take it that you don't want to save her then,” he said, smirking, arms folded across his chest. “Kneel down and acknowledge me as king and she would be taken to the infirmary.“Silence filled the room.“The offer leaves the table at the count of ten,” he says. Then he began counting, his voice sharp and commanding. Each number only made my heart r

Kael's POV. Last week, Alpha Lucas of the Lunarstrike pack sent me a letter and in his words, he said I should be careful because the other Alphas are planning on joining hands with that bastard—Gomez—to attack me and seize the throne from me. Of course I had suspected that, but having someone to confirm it only made me more sure And now, it was time to prove to them that I didn't just stumble to greatness, to the throne. No. I'm here because I'm smart and I worked hard enough to be here. Lyra too has been acting suspiciously, but since she hasn't been caught red-handed, I will just keep an eye on her for now. I summoned my armies, and ordered them to always stay alert from now on. Ensures that all the routes to the Pack and palace are blocked. I sent a message to my father too. I had wanted him to come over with his army a day to the coronation ceremony before but with the new developments, I want him to be here three days to the ceremony to be on a safer side. A smile spread

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 254

Elara's POV We were tossed back to the dungeon, and I wouldn't lie, my body ache in places I don't know. The lash on my back felt like it would kill me yet I couldn't die. Not yet. Not until I I drag that bastard away from my father's throne. Not until I see that bastard burn in hell for everything he's done.My head throbbed with headache—so overwhelming that it seems like my head would snap off my neck. My vision was blurry. And worse part of it all was that my werewolf abilities such as strength, healing and sight—were starting to deteriorate rapidly. Even a human is stronger than I am at this point. The tears I had been holding all this while finally slid down my cheeks. Waves after waves. And I didn’t know how long I could hold on anymore. But with every lash, every cruel smirk Kael gave, he only added more fuel to the fire. To my anger. To Just how much I'm eager to rip him apart when I get the chance. But I wasn't the only one having a hard time. In fact, the Elders had it w

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 252

Author's POVWhen Elara was finally dragged up and struck again and again, she didn’t scream. Not once. She wouldn't give him that satisfaction. But her breathing turned ragged. Her skin, slick with blood and sweat, burned like fire.Kael stepped closer once more, crouching beside her as she lay on the ground.“You’re going to die soon, you know,” he whispered. “And no one is coming to save you.”She didn’t reply.“Don’t you want to beg me?”Still, silence.Kael frowned and stood again, brushing his hands off like he’d just finished peeling fruit.“Take them back. Chain them tighter. Still starve them.“He turned and strolled back to his chair.“And Elara…” he called lazily as she was dragged away. “If you change your mind… and beg me for mercy, I might let you be queen beside me.”“Just kill me already, you bastard!“ Elara screamed, struggling against the guards.Kael laughed to himself, then waved them all off like they were no more than a passing breeze. But behind his smile—behind

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 251

Author’s POVKael sat sprawled on the velvet throne in the center of the great hall, glass of wine in hand, legs lazily parted as if the world already belonged to him, and maybe it's his.Outside, the courtyard buzzed with servants and warriors preparing for his coronation. Banners bearing the new sigil—of his warriors bleeding over Cadman steel—flapped in the wind. But inside… Kael was restless.Bored.So damn bored. He let out a slow exasperated sigh, swirling the wine in his cup until it spilled over the edge and dripped down his fingers.“This waiting,” he muttered, eyes narrowed at the dancing flames of the chandelier above. “It’s exhausting.”A whore beside him chuckled nervously, her fingers trailing down his chest, leaning toward him. “Perhaps I can—”“Leave,” he said coldly, not even glancing at her.She stiffened, then scurried away, her eyes wide with fear.Kael straightened up slowly, that twisted gleam already forming in his eyes.“I need entertainment.”He turned to his

Gomez's POV“Not all of them,” Nolan cut in, leveling his gaze at Gomez. “Some will come around when they see we’re serious. Once we begin the march, they’ll have no choice but to pick a side. So, we can't let them weigh us down.”Gomez turned away, jaw clenched. Maybe he was right.Or maybe they’d sit back and watch us burn.Whatever it was, if he was alive after everything was over, he would get back at them. They are traitors and traitors shouldn't be given a seat at their table when the storm is finally over.“Do we know how many warriors Kael has stationed in the Cadman Palace right now?” Alpha Rhys asked.Nolan pointed at the map. “Rough estimate? Over a thousand. But more could be hiding in nearby towns. He’s clever. Hewouldn't want to leave any stones unturned.”“And Kael himself?” Alpha Gideon of the Eastwood pack—who has been silent all this while asked.“He won’t leave the palace before the coronation. He thinks he’s untouchable,” Gomez said coldly. “And that’s exactly why
