Lyra’s POV

After Kael's departure, it felt like the room walls were closing in on me. I sat on the edge of my bed, my hands trembling so hard I could barely keep my fingers together. Everything inside me screamed at me to run. To disappear. To escape whatever punishment Kael had obviously planned out for me tonight. But deep down inside me, I knew it was pointless. Useless even.

Kael was everywhere and anywhere. He was watching me like a CCTV camera and he knows every steps I take.

The guards who patrolled the palace halls? They weren't just guarding the palace— most of them were working for Kael. That bastard had more loyal servants than Damian, the king did . His eyes were in the shadows, in the silence, in every goddamn corner I turned. I could feel it. They were like invisible hands tightening around my throat.

Hours passed and I was still pacing around like a lunatic, biting down at my lower lip until I tasted blood again.

Maybe... maybe I could find a way out? Maybe if I s

Elara's POVBack at the palace, the quietness was suffocating. I wanted to go check up on my parents at the hospital, to look mother in the eyes and maybe find some comfort in her presence but I stopped myself. I couldn’t do that to her. Not yet.She didn’t know I had lost the baby. The pain would be too much for her to bear.So instead, I picked up the phone and called.“Hello, my child,” she answered, her voice soft and relieved.“I'm fine, mother… how’s Father?”“Still hasn't regained his memories yet,” she said. “But he looks more peaceful now. Like he’s just… sleeping and getting to know me all over again." Then she smiled—a fake one, I assume. "But it's fun."I closed my eyes, clutching the phone tighter as I felt my heart breaking. Getting to know her? It must be cruel and heartbreaking to watch the man whom you built a life with struggling to recognise you. And I knew it was anything but fun. She must have said that so I won't feel bad.“That portion I told you to get… did the

Elara’s POV“I miss it. The way you used to smile at me without flinching. The way you trusted me. I’d give anything to get that back.”I looked down at our hands, his fingers wrapping around mine like they still had a right to be there. Like nothing had ever happened. I pulled back gently and held his gaze, no longer clouded by longing. This is a time to slam the truth on his face directly so he would stop being delusional.“Damian…” I said, my voice low but firm. “I would never lie to you, and so I’ll be honest now too. Things can’t go back to the way they were. Those times that I used to smile at you, trust you—they are gone forever."His eyes flickered with something that seemed like it was hurt. He was pained... but what the hell was he expecting? That I'd just run back into his arms? Don't tell me he actually believes my words of putting the past behind us.“Not after everything. Every time I close my eyes, I see my father lying in that hospital bed, weak, hurt, alone. And I won

Elara's POV The Cadman pack might not have gone into a battle with the Rogues before but we avoided them. They are known to be troublesome and that must have been the reason why they were banished from their pack. So it was better to avoid them all together. The reason why I accepted to marry Damian then was because I was in love and I know he became a Rogue because he was an orphan and not because he was banished. And.... Look at where that love landed me. Just then, the door creaked again. Damian stepped in, his shirt half-unbuttoned, his scent rolling through the room like warm cedar and something darker—guilt. He paused when he saw me as if I had just caught him doing something I shouldn't know about. "Oh, Elara...." He forced a smile. “You know Kael was the Rogue king's son,” I said before he could say another word. His jaw tightened. His silence confirmed it. I stood. “You knew Kael was the Rogue Prince. And you didn’t tell me.” “Elara…” he took a step forward. “Don’

Elara's POV "Are you sure?" I asked, as the words were echoing in my ears. It was a struggle for me to believe that a Rogue was an Alpha of this pack, which was fine and accepted but then a Rogue prince as its Beta? "Yes....." Clara affirmed. And I couldn't help but believe her and come to think of it, I think there was some slight resemblance between them. They seem to have the same eye color. Dark wicked eyes. Then she continued. "He is still working on decrypting the file too. Said it was difficult but I'm sure he would pull through." I nodded, praying silently that he'd be able to do it because curiosity was getting the best of me. I could feel, it contained something huge, something that could change everything and that was why Damian protected it like that. The silence lingered for a while. I was expecting her to leave but instead she stood looking at me, her expression shifted from the professional one to a more concerned one. I gave her a questioning glare. "Oh...." S

Author's POV Lyra was in her room, but she was anything but calm. Her hands shook as she paced her chamber, breath coming in short gasps. She has overheard the secret staff interrogation. Damian was getting closer. Too close. What If he dug too deep, and Mira confessed to getting the herb portion from her? She could deny it since she was careful enough not to leave any traces behind but then he would still be suspicious. If Mira was sensible, she'd know to keep quiet. But until when would she be able to withstand the torture. And she was angry that Damian pretended to not want anything to do with Elara or even want a child from her, but when she lost the baby, he suddenly started acting nice towards her. Still panicking, she grabbed her phone and set a message to Kael, hoping to get an escape route from him since he was the mastermind behind everything. Meet me. Now. The reply from Kael came moments later. Lay low for now. Don’t try to contact me. Or do anything foolish. R

Author's POV "Who among you poisoned the Queen’s meal?” His voice thundered through the silent hall as he strolled in front of the twenty two staff members who stood in a straight line. Fear was etched on their faces as they saw Damian's blazing eyes. No one answered. The silence grew thicker and the only noise in the hall was their breathing. The tension keeps growing inside the staff as they bury their faces to the ground. By this time, Mira was starting to tremble slightly. She quickly clenched her hands so no one would notice. Was the portion lady Lyra gave her poison? No... it can't be. She said it was an herbal. Or was it just mere Coincidence that the queen had been poisoned at the same time. Which ever one it was, she planned on staying quiet. Speaking was never an option. Never. Because either way, if it was poison or herbal, her life was at stake. She was not supposed to collect anything from an outsider and put it in the Royal meals. She can't believe she had been

Elara’s POV “What did the doctor say caused the bleeding?” I asked, my voice hoarse from crying when I remembered we were having dinner when I started bleeding without feeling any initial pain. Damian hesitated before answering, “He said… stress. That your body had taken too much of it lately, and the pregnancy couldn’t hold on.” Stress? That didn’t make sense. I’ve always been stressed. Since the day I arrived here, every moment has been a battlefield of fear, uncertainty, and survival. And the baby… she was strong. She had survived the prison, the long days of neglect, the numerous hospital visits during my sickness, and even the symptoms of my brain cancer and now that I was even more relaxed, I had suddenly bled out. “Stress?” I echoed, furrowing my brows in disbelief. “I’ve always been under stress. Why now? Why suddenly? It doesn't seem like it is." His jaw tensed as he explained to me smoothly, “The doctor confirmed it. He ran the tests. And diagnosed that was the cause.”

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 131

Elara’s POVIt was quiet. Too quiet. And the scary thing was that this was not the kind of quiet that brings peace. This quietness brings pain and chaos. The kind that feels endless… like I'm not truly myself.I was standing in a place that wasn’t real. It wasn't a forest and neither was it the palace. There was a full moon casting a glow on me. Then she appeared. The Moon Goddess.Or maybe it was just a dream. But she was there—tall, luminous, her silver eyes glowing with wisdom and sadness.“Elara,” she said softly. “You were not meant to leave just yet.”Leave yet? I stared at her, confused. “Am I dead?”“No,” she replied. “But you’re close. You’ve fought too long with your heart buried. You carry too much pain with you. And now… your child bears it too.”My hands flew to my belly. It still ached, but here in this dream, I felt warmth again. Then emptiness. “My baby?” I whispered. It was silent for a while before she spoke again.“She’s gone,” the Goddess said. “And you need to be

Damian’s POVI didn't let the driver drive. No. I drove myself, like a madman towards the Pack hospital. Car tires screeching, my heart pounding louder than any sound and my mind was totally blank. I haven't been so scared like I was in my entire life.“Elara, stay with me,” I kept saying, straining my eyes backwards. Her blood was already soaked into the backseat, dripping and terrifying. “Don’t close your eyes: just stay awake please." But she wasn’t listening. The pain was too unbearable for her. Her face was pale, her lips trembling, her eyes fluttering. She whimpered one last time, “My baby… please…”And then nothing else. Her body went limp and I thought she was gone.“No, no, no—Elara!” I shouted, slamming the heel of my palm against the steering wheel. “Don’t do this to me!”Guards were shouting when we reached the hospital. I didn’t hear them. I didn’t care. I carried her inside, yelling at the physicians, threatening, begging, anything to get them to move faster.“She’s ble
