Emma

The forum went on for three days as planned.

On the third day, I already felt the exhaustion but I dared not to complain. It was the good kind of tired since all of our hard work was finally paying off. The crowd was less than it was on the first day. Nevertheless, the hall was still filled with wolves interacting with each other.

Ara and I were standing by the refreshment table. We were currently speaking with a few colleagues who came over to talk and congratulate us. Ara was nudging my elbow every time someone was praising my speeches. She looked so proud hearing those compliments like a proud stage mom.

“Moon Healer is an excellent speaker. She had everyone hooked,” Ara told one man from the coastal delegation. “Even the moderator was impressed.”

I shook my head. “Stop it, Ara. You’re exaggerating.”

“Well, not really,” the man said. “She was right. Your points on funding were bold. Not everyone would say that here.”

I smiled. “That was the point, Sir,” I said. “Sometimes y

AlexanderI stood behind the curtain. Eyes fixed on the fake mask Andrew wears with Charlotte. His laughter that reached up to my office utterly disgusted me. The smiles he offered to my daughter was enough to make me puke. He wrapped his arms around Charlotte quietly in the garden. Both sharing a sweet poison Charlotte hasn’t any idea about.I intended to go back to my desk to forget this disgusting sight. Until something moved from the bushes of roses.I observed for another minute. Eyes focused more. And another movement appeared. This time, closer to where my daughter is. A figure darted towards their seat. Raising a dagger. Words unable to be released from my mouth. I almost jumped out of the window.Until the dark figure strikes swiftly against Andrew. Charlotte screamed and jumped out from the seat. Panic froze her against the ground shouting for help.Andrew caught the dagger in the last second. Twisting his body to defend himself. The surprise attack clearly had an edge for t

EmmaThe last time we met I promised Alexander that I would help him, but I never explained how. From the way he looked at me I could tell he thought I meant to dig out secrets about Andrew, something sharp enough to break his bond with Charlotte. That was never what I intended. I had no wish to drag out Andrew’s filth. The only help I could give was my own truth, the past I had carried in silence for many years. Now I was sitting across from Alexander in the quiet of this restaurant and I knew it was time to tell him.Silence was hovering above us My hands fidgeted under the tablecloth as Alexander’s eyes stayed on me. A few people filled the room. Well, not too many. Just enough to make the place feel normal without making me fear being overheard.Well, I guess it is time to let this all out. “I will only tell you about my past,” I said firmly, making sure Alexander would understand what I could only offer. “Nothing else.” With a serious look, Alexander inclined his head. “That

EmmaCharlotte swept in like a radiant morning light entering our workplace. Everyone’s world stood. Not a single person moved inside the office. Eyes quietly observing. Nobody dared to peek at the door. Though her dazzling aura was harmless, every eye could grasp the power she upheld as a member of the royal family. The guards stood outside guarding the door. I was standing alone with the princess. And Andrew, smiling brightly like he didn’t know a damn thing about me.My lungs hurt because of the way I’d been holding my breath from the shock of what I was seeing. Charlotte approached my desk. I stood still, forcing every fiber of my muscles. She walked past the desk on the side and raised both of her delicate arms.“It’s good to see you again. I see you’re so busy with your work.”I welcomed the princess with a delicate hug as a greeting. Her warm hug finally snapped a string in my head. I was able to pull some words out of my mouth.“We’re working on a new project so it’s been busi

EmmaThe office buzzed with all kinds of noise. Printers scanning papers. Ringing phones from left to right. And voices talking in a slightly high tune. Everyone was absorbed in their own timeline. A usual day at the office.Strangely enough, I felt out of place. I was the one left behind. The usual noise I tackled every morning inside the office was out of rhythm with me. As if it was my first week working with the team, while the rest were in the same flow as everybody.I took a long breath, tapping the same page I was trying to dig upon. Words seemed jumbled in a way I couldn’t understand. My pen almost felt like a useless one without ink. I couldn’t write any.No matter how hard I tried to bury my face upon the layers of the papers, my thoughts were drifting somewhere else. I was only present physically, but the rest were flying around.I bit my lips, forcing every cell running in my head to focus on the paperwork today.“You’ve been staring at those numbers for an eternity. Don’t

EmmaI already had a hint about this. I knew it wouldn’t be the last time Alexander would try to convince me. My expectations had brought me here again. Underneath the table of the same place where we had this conversation, I folded my hands tightly on my lap, fidgeting as my heart became restless, worried about possible outcomes that might come after this conversation. Meanwhile, Alexander sat in silence, but his gaze never left me. It was impossible to run away even if I tried to. Fate kept bringing me back to this past, pulling me closer to Alexander’ life, connected to a part of me I never dreamed of sharing. I heaved a deep breath as deep as a well. “I will only tell you about my past. Nothing else,” I said firmly. I wasn’t sure if this would even help. I would lie if I said there was no hesitation resting in my heart. However, hearing this, Alexander inclined his head toward me.“That’s more than enough.” I drew in a forceful breath, slow and steady, and released the words

  • I Am Done Being Your Doormat, Alpha   Chapter 197

EmmaEarly in the morning. Same as the usual ones. I distracted myself with the pile of papers waiting to get done. MedCare Pharma doesn't sit around and relax on any day of the week. We always ensure quality work over comfort. However, today was unique. Ara’s smile plastered all over my face. It’s been a whole 10 minutes and she still hasn’t given up on sucking some details. I couldn’t run away from it.She leaned on the desk, tapping the wooden surface. “Hello?” “What?” I answered unenthusiastically. “So… how was the palace? You were gone for days, surrounded by royals. Don’t tell me nothing happened.”I sighed and kept my eyes on the documents. “Nothing worth talking about.” If I fuss, even the slightest, it would interest Ara more. So I continued to distract myself until Ara got tired. I read, signed, and pretended Ara didn’t exist. But she doesn’t know how to give up. She pulled the wheeled chair near my table. Smiled and whispered,“Nothing? Not even with the Lycan King? I
