I opened the door and thanked god that there were lights in the room. There was also a bed and other furniture. Even though the furnishing was simple, it was much better than I remembered.

At least one could live in this room decently, much better than the utility room I once lived in.

I helped Melissa to the bed. It was good that she had Alpha blood running in her veins as her wolf would heal her quickly. It had only been a while since we left the room, but her wounds had already started to scab over.

"Thank you, Andrea. You saved me again," Melissa said as she lowered her head, her voice hoarse.

I shook my head and sighed. "You wanted to save me today too."

"I didn't help much. You're much more powerful than you used to be," Melissa replied with her head down. Her thick hair obscured her face so I couldn't see her expression.

"But when Jesse lunged at me, you still wanted to protect me. I know that," I said gently, reaching out to tuck her hair behind her ear.
