Ella's POV

I stepped out of the Luna's chamber, the halls echoing faintly with my every step. A warmth lingered in my skin from the wine, but something far headier boomed in my chest–ambition, full and ripe.

In just a few hours I'd rise far above my initial status as a healer.

The silk robe I wore clung loosely around me as I walked, my bare feet brushing silently against the floor.

I could see the large door to the Alpha's chamber already, noting it's craft of dark oak fine wood. I pushed it open gently.

The alpha stood by the grand mirror, fully decked up. He was cloaked in his most regal ensemble, with black and purple crimson layers perfected over his large and powerful frame. He was adjusting the cuff of his sleeve and somehow didn't notice when I pushed his door open. That right there was a level of vulnerability my father wouldn't tolerate from a leader.

Slowly, I moved forward, tiptoeing toward him like a shadow.

Then, with a practiced grace that always got him, I slipped

  • I Am The Alpha's Rejected Mate    Chapter 178

Ella's POVI moved through the corridor with patient strides, the distant murmur of preparation whispering again. I pulled into the Luna's chamber and pulled out my phone. A quick swipe, then another. Still nothing from Zara. I dialed again, then straight to voicemail. Nothing. Hissing through clenched teeth, I called one more time. Nothing still. "Damn it," I muttered, taking strides towards the bed and sinking on it while I tapped the encrypted line–the one directed to father. On the third ring, it connected. His face appeared on the screen. "All going smoothly?" "She's not picking," I said quickly. "No replies. No texts. And we're few minutes from the ceremony." His frown deepened and he looked away for a while. "Zara? Hmmm." "Yes. I've been calling her for a while now, sending three alerts already. Still nothing." He exhaled slowly, his eyes narrowing with quiet rage. "This could mean a lot of things Ella. Bad connection, switched off her device for complete connection–"

Ashley's POVI could only watch Ben in horror as he turned the ignition with a wicked smirk. "The Dead cell, ha!" he muttered as the van roared to life like some beast in mechanical form ready to drag us to hell. Instinctively, my arms reached for the kids, yanking them even closer to my side. I pressed them real close, my heart thudding wildly and my body moving faster than my thoughts could. The van jerked along it's wake as it lurched forward, and we silently joined the convoy trailing the van up ahead–the one with David and Zara. More like I was shielding the kids for what was coming, my arms wrapped tightly around them and their faces buried in my chest. Darkness consumed the road ahead, the only visible light being the one spilling from the headlamps of the vehicles carving shaky paths through the shadows. The darkness seemed endless, devouring the tress and all ahead, and somewhere out there, Ella waited and hoped that Zara would return with them. A shiver scraped down my s

Ella's POV I spotted a very brief hesitation from Jayden, the last ounce of his pride flickering just like a dying flame, but then–"Yes, mistress," he finally said in a low and husky voice. It broke the air like a vow. "You have my word." "Good." I climbed onto the bed with him, making deliberate and well rehearsed and applied movements, the best I could think of. Stretching my body across his bare chest, I felt the tremor that passed through him. He made no movements, he couldn't even try it, for his entire being was mine now.I leaned close, feeling his heated breath and making mine brush against his lips. "Remember this, Jayden, tonight is about power and control–" "Power," he repeated, shutting his eyes and trying to reach for my breasts. I tapped his hand away. I wasn't done yet. " Yes, power, and when the crown is finally placed upon my head, every bloodline and every throne as as far as the horizon could stretch will answer to me."He opened his wide and hungry eyes and l

Ashley's POV"Zara only laughed," David continued bitterly. "Said the spell over him and Oakwood pack is still under full effect. Hell, it's even stronger over his cabinet members. The charm is more potent than we ever thought, reducing as much as anyone who raised an eyebrow to a pulp. New blood rituals she's been doing made it stronger." I sat back, my thoughts spinning in all directions. "But Jayden, he'll still resist an evil plot as this." "Yeah," David agreed. "No one would hand over a new lineage of Alphas to a female werewolf under lust. But that's where the betrayal comes in. Zara told me Ella made him a promise." At this, my gaze locked on his. "A what now?" David darted through the windows before turning back. "I have to make this quick, for we have to create a plan. Now Jayden was promised that he won't be left out, that an Alpha must rule beside her. One with just slightly a lower power but just enough to be respected by the masses–"" Like the Queen of England and h
