Chapter 7

Author: Zoe bear
As night fell, the wind by the lake carried the chill of the stone array. I stood before the boundary marker of Sterling territory, with Alaric and his guards behind me.

The guards suddenly became alert and rushed to Alaric's side. Ahead, several riders on wolf mounts, dressed in black cloaks and bearing familiar emblems, were charging wildly. The foremost one dismounted, tall and imposing, with silver-black eyes burning with rage. Just one glance from him made the wind beneath my feet feel cold. The air was thick with tension and confrontation. Moonlight shone on the ancient stones, casting shadows and revealing the undercurrents in everyone's hearts.

Felix Sable.

He took a few steps closer, his anger and Alpha's dominance surging like a tide. Pointing at me, he coldly demanded, "Elara Vega, how dare you betray Blackwood? What did Sterling offer you to make you so heartless?"

Instinctively, I stepped back behind Alaric. His hand promptly and firmly steadied my shoulder.

Another season has passed, and the woods of Sterling are brimming with the signs of renewal. As the first snow melts, the cold, clear lake water laps against the stone shore. I carry my medicine basket and follow the secluded path to gather the tender new shoots of mint. Not far away, the young wolves chase and leap, while Grandma Isolde and the cubs prepare pastries for the spring feast. In the distance, Alaric and the forest guards whisper to each other, and their occasional glances at me always bring a sense of reassurance. It's been a year since that night by the lake when we faced off. My body and wolf soul have found some miraculous healing on this land. Pack Doctor used the gentlest herbs and moonlight rituals, and Alaric's unwavering company every day - my sense of direction has improved a lot, and my memory is gradually clearing up. The scar left by the incomplete wolf soul is still faint, but I no longer have nightmares at night. I can walk through the thick forest alone wit

  • I Became Alpha's Nemesis' Beloved Luna via Proxy Marriage   Chapter 6

Elara’s POVLeaning against the windowsill of the castle's infirmary, the sunlight filtered through the stained glass, casting a pale gold and moon-white glow on my hand. The air was warm and still, mingled with the scent of herbs and crushed moonstones, giving me the illusion of floating in water, silent and soundless. Beneath my toes was a thick carpet adorned with Sterling patterns, quite different from the always chilly stone slabs of Blackwood. Sterling's Pack Doctor was an elderly man with white hair, moving slowly but with extremely sharp eyes. He probed my wrist bones and carotid artery with silver needles and inspected the deep cracks in the wolf spirit with his gentle spiritual power. The wrinkles on his face deepened even more. "Lord Argent!" He suddenly looked up, his voice carrying no concealed reproach. "These wounds...they are not just recent. Her soul is already riddled with holes. Where was her Alpha when she needed him? " My fingers clenched the cloth on my lap, kn

Felix’s POVA diplomatic visit to Sterling Pack should have been nothing more than a symbolic gesture, a step toward friendly relations. My composure, etiquette, and courteous banter were flawless, all perfectly mimicked. I knew I needed to secure Blackwood’s currently fragile position. Sterling’s Alpha, Alaric, was impeccably measured in his attitude, and I responded in kind. We were both wary, but neither revealed any sharpness—this façade of peace was crucial to both sides.Until that moment.I followed Alaric through an arched corridor. Just as I hesitated, considering whether to suggest a short break in the garden, a clear, bright laugh suddenly reached my ears.Every fiber of my being instinctively caught something unusual in that laughter—unrestrained, neither fearful nor ingratiating. It wasn’t the forced social laughter of aristocratic ladies—it was… genuine, relaxed joy. Someone here lived truly at ease.Sterling Keep had always been orderly; few guests dared make a fuss.Yet

Elara’s POVMy first summons to meet Lady Isolde Argent came as a formal "request" from Omega Brigid. Lady Isolde seldom left her sunlit tower at the highest point of Sterling Keep. As the oldest pack member in the territory and a former Luna who had outlived two Alphas, she now reigned above the Argent family, her power second only to the current Alpha. In her eyes, the duties and position of Luna were both sacred and unforgiving. Escorted by Brigid through the keep, I heard the corridors alive with whispered speculations about me—so pale, so quiet, clearly not of Sterling Pack. Silver-haired Brigid, ever loyal, accompanied me, but Lady Isolde’s gaze dismissed her at the threshold. "Leave us." It was not a request. Lady Isolde’s chamber was a repository of antiquity: antique chests, drying herbs, wolf pelts, and shards of moonstone. She sat rigid in her chair, silver hair like frost, her shawl and fingers arranged with military precision, even her breath seeming to enforce propr

Felix’s POV"Miss Vega’s missing."When the butler rushed to inform me, my quill hesitated mid-air over the document, but I quickly resumed reviewing the papers, not bothering to look up as I interrupted, "What is it this time? Does the herb garden need moonflowers replanted, or has the kitchen run out of honey again? Tell her such trivial matters don't require special reporting. I don't have time for her to fuss over these things."I've truly been overwhelmed lately. The Blackwood Pack is about to embark on its migration, and as Alpha, I need to personally confirm every preparation. From supply stockpiles to migration routes, from the accommodation of the elderly, weak, sick, and disabled to potential threats along the way, every link cannot be overlooked. What's more troublesome is that the pack elders have been frequently pressuring me to reassess the candidate for Luna.By the time I finished the last supply list, it was already dark outside the window. At dinner, Elara's usual se
