Serena's POV

"We're here to see Liliana Rosemary."

Even her name sounded gentle and sweet, it didn't match the conniving image that was her.

My mother-in-law grabbed my arm again leading me from the receptionist counter after we had been told where to find Lillian

My mate's mistress

It was such a putrid thought in my mind. When my mother-in-law Belinda wanted to drag me here my first instinct was to yell at her and command her to leave my presence with my lunar aura if I had to.

But morbid curiosity took over, I allowed her to drag me here while she swung the basket filled with sweets and treats.

Invisible shreds that tightened my chest kept coming when I saw it.

In all the years I have known her she has never done something so thoughtful for me.

Several times I had collapsed from the sheer weight of carrying the pack on my back, she had not so much as given me a generic get well card or even come to see me. In fact she would avoid me as if I carried some horrid contagious plague but when I recovered she was quick to load me back with work making a million excuses why she couldn't be there for me.

She saw me staring and tucked the basket away from my sight, muttering something under her breath.

We reached the wardroom and before entering she glanced back at me.

"Remember Serena's behavior , for now you are still Luna and you should act like it."

For now? I took a sharp breath saving my retort.

She walked in first, "Liliana!" She called out her name with a glee that had never been directed at me.

I came in after, she had Liliana wrapped in her arms and on the other side of the hospital bed was my mate Caden cautioning her.

"Reel it back, Mother, Liliana is still tired."

His mother pouted, "this is my first time meeting her, can't I show her my excitement?"

I was completely forgotten even as I stood in the middle of the room.

Humiliation that was already coursing through my veins intensified when she was the one to acknowledge me first.

"Luna Serena it's nice to finally meet you," her eyes perked with this wicked glint she quickly hid away afterwards, "I'm sorry, this isn't our first time meeting, is it?"

I marched forward, having enough of this disrespect.

I froze in my steps before Cadens stood between us, blocking my view completely but I had seen enough.

"Caden, that girl she-"

He grabbed my arm, herding me out of the ward room before I could finish my sentence. He finally stuck when we were in the waiting lounge and I yanked my arm away.

"Have you lost your mind?" I screamed, "that's a child!"

Under the harsh hospital lights I got a good look at the girl other than the scars I could see on her arms and some on her face. She looked too soft, edges that should have naturally sharpened on her body with age didn't, because she wasn't that age.

We were in our early thirties and he was messing around with a teenager.

His whole body went stiff, dragging his palm over his face like I was the one being impossible.

"She's not a child, she just turned 21," he said in full defense.

I had been running the pack finances for 3 years so the math clicked in my head immediately.

"She was 18 when you met her?" I said

He sighed; "Yes, eighteen and she's mature for a girl her age. She understands how the world works without being frigid and jaded like someone I know,"

His pointed comment hit me like a stab to the chest, all the feelings I had cried out last night were bubbling back up.

"Is that why you betrayed me?" My wolf was crying within me as I spoke, "is that why you threw away everything we had?"

As an Alpha's daughter I always knew that I was more of a pawn than a person, that one day I'd be shipped off to the man with the heaviest pockets.

I managed to dodge and escape for years but at 25 years old my father gave me a choice, either I was mated or disowned.

On my moon shifting anniversary he invited all the eligible bachelors, I wafted past them like a ghost waiting for the night to be over then I locked eyes with him

Caden Thornblood.

Tall, domineering and tactical.

He didn't throw himself all over me like the other men, confident that his energy was enough to reel me in.

He was right.

Before midnight he had me in bed, he was my first and it was a bit awkward but ultimately I chalked it as the best night of my life.

Until every other night became a variation of my first, the only difference was that it got worse.

More pain and less pleasure.

"Serena you are many things but you are not a fool surely you saw this coming, not only where you are incapable of giving me an heir but you couldn't even satisfy me in bed... "He took a deep breath looking directly into my now teary face as he continued.

"It's not like I jumped head first into an affair the moment I left, but Liliana was special I knew from the moment I rescued her from some enemy warriors." He took a long pause, "she is my mate Serena, my fated mate."

My jaw hit the floor, finding your fated mate was a rarity these days. Most people just settled on chosen mates.

I was gobsmacked, unable to and he saw that as an invitation to continue tearing my heart to shreds.

"I tried to resist her, I really did." He said that it was supposed to make me feel better.

"But it had been so long since I had been satisfied in bed. I thought I'd keep her with me to keep my morale up but it became something more," he let out a defeated sigh, "Serena, I'm in love with her.”

  • I Became the Obsidian Lycan King’s Obsession    Chapter 38

Serena’s POVThe forest air was thick with the metallic scent of blood and the sharp tang of fear as the ambush unfolded around us. My heart hammered against my ribs like a war drum, but I refused to freeze. The masked attackers moved with lethal intent, their blades flashing in the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy. Alaric fought like a force of nature beside me, his sword a blur of deadly precision, while his guards formed a protective circle that was rapidly crumbling under the assault. One of the attackers broke through the line, lunging directly toward me with his sword raised. Time seemed to slow. I could hear Gale shouting my name from somewhere behind, but he was engaged with two others. Alaric was occupied with the leader of the group, their blades clashing with sparks.I didn’t think. I simply acted.Twisting in the saddle, I drew the dagger Gale had given me earlier and slashed at the man’s arm as he reached for me. The blade bit deep, drawing a howl of pain fro

Serena’s POVThe forest road stretched endlessly before us, a narrow path carved through ancient trees that seemed to close in like watchful sentinels. I rode beside Alaric at the front of the small convoy, the steady rhythm of the horses’ hooves the only sound breaking the tense silence that had settled over us since dawn. My body ached from the unfamiliar saddle and the long hours of riding, but I refused to complain. Showing weakness in front of the Obsidian King was not an option.Alaric sat tall in his saddle, his dark cloak billowing slightly in the breeze. He hadn’t spoken much since we left the estate, his eyes constantly scanning the treeline for threats. The small group of elite guards he had brought rode a respectful distance behind us, giving us a fragile illusion of privacy.“You ride well,” Alaric said suddenly, his deep voice cutting through the quiet. It was the first real attempt at conversation since we had departed. “Most highborn ladies I’ve met sit in carriages an

Serena’s POVThe great hall buzzed with barely contained tension as the Obsidian King’s arrival became imminent. Servants hurried back and forth, laying out fresh linens and polishing silver that hadn’t seen use in years. I stood near the entrance, my simple dress exchanged for something more presentable at my father’s insistence, though the fabric felt like chains against my skin. Gale remained close by, a silent guardian, while Penelope hovered nervously beside me, her fingers twisting in the folds of her gown. The sound of hooves thundering into the courtyard made my stomach clench. I lifted my chin, refusing to show the fear clawing at my insides. Moments later, Alaric strode through the doors like he owned the very stones beneath his feet. His presence filled the room—tall, broad-shouldered, with eyes as sharp and cold as winter steel. The King of the Obsidian throne moved with the confidence of a man who had never known defeat. His advisor, Elias, followed a step behind, carryin

Serena’s POVDawn broke over the estate like a reluctant witness to the chaos unfolding within its walls. I hadn’t slept after the theft. How could I? The treaty fragment—the one tangible piece of leverage I possessed—had been ripped from beneath my pillow by unseen hands in the dead of night. Every shadow in the tower seemed to mock me now, every creak of the old wood a reminder that I was never truly safe.Gale had insisted on searching the grounds immediately, despite his injured arm. He moved with determined purpose, his eyes scanning the dew-covered grass beneath the window where the intruder had escaped. Penelope stayed close to me, her small hand gripping mine as we followed him at a distance. The air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of pine from the surrounding forests, but it did little to ease the knot of dread twisting in my stomach.“Here,” Gale called out suddenly, crouching near a cluster of bushes a short distance from the tower wall. He picked up a scrap of dark fab

  • I Became the Obsidian Lycan King’s Obsession    Chapter 34

Serena’s POVThe echo of the heavy doors slamming behind Caden still lingered in the great hall like a challenge I refused to back down from. My hands were steady now, the tremor from earlier gone, replaced by a burning resolve that felt foreign yet empowering. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t shrinking away from the threats hurled at me. I wasn’t the rejected, broken omega anymore. I was something sharper, something forged in the fires of betrayal and necessity.Gale watched me carefully, his injured arm cradled against his chest. “You really called his bluff,” he said, a mix of admiration and worry in his voice. “Caden looked like he wanted to strangle you right there. Liliana’s scheme… if they actually spread those lies about infidelity, the Obsidian King won’t even give you a chance to explain. He’ll see you as tainted goods.”I turned away from the window where moonlight spilled across the floor like spilled silver. “Let them try,” I replied, my voice low but firm. “I’m do

  • I Became the Obsidian Lycan King’s Obsession    Chapter 33

Serena’s POVThe great hall felt colder than the tower ever had, even with the massive fire roaring in the hearth. I stood near the tall windows, the black envelope from the King’s advisor still clutched in my hands like a death warrant. The note inside burned in my memory: *The debt is due. Do not be late.* My heart hadn’t stopped racing since the advisor’s departure, and every creak of the ancient floorboards made me tense, expecting Alaric or his men to appear at any moment.Penelope had finally fallen into an exhausted sleep in the corner chaise after Gale carried her there. Gale himself leaned against the wall, his injured arm freshly bandaged, watching me with that familiar mix of worry and stubborn loyalty.“You don’t have to do this alone,” he said quietly, his voice rough from pain and lack of sleep. “We can still find a way out. The eastern border patrols are thin at dawn. If we move fast—”“No,” I cut him off gently but firmly, turning to face him. “Running would only make
