I tightened my grip on the phone, unable to believe that everything I'd shared with Sebastian Morris over the past few years had been a lie.

My hands trembled as I dialed his number. The phone rang twice before he hung up, but I immediately called again.

It wasn't until my 17th attempt that he finally answered.

"Anna, stop it."

Sebastian kept his voice low, but he couldn't hide his impatience. "She's on her period and isn't feeling well. I can't leave her alone. I need to take care of her."

My throat felt dry, and I had to swallow before I could force myself to speak.

Just then, a woman's voice came through the phone. "Sebastian, my heating pad's gone cold."

He immediately softened his tone. "Coming, baby. Give me a second."

He hung up before I could say another word.

Sebastian used to take care of me whenever I was on my period, too.

He would make me chamomile tea and place his warm hands over my lower abdomen. Whenever I complained about the cramps, he would pull me closer and murmur, "I'm right here."

Now, he was taking care of another woman.

I wanted to confront him and find out exactly what was going on, but when the car pulled up outside his apartment building, I couldn't bring myself to go upstairs.

I was terrified that everything I'd discovered was true and that I'd been the other woman all along.

Then, I saw Sebastian emerge from the building with his arm around a woman.

The wind blew a few strands of her bangs across her face, and he gently tucked them behind her ear. His movements were so tender and familiar that he'd clearly done it countless times before.

A neighbor passing by stopped to greet them.

"Mr. Morris, taking your girlfriend out for another walk, I see."

Sebastian smiled. "We're going to try on wedding dresses today."

The neighbor gave the woman a thumbs-up. "You're one lucky woman, Ms. Farber! Can't wait for the wedding!"

I staggered backward in disbelief, unable to summon the courage to approach them.

Meanwhile, Sebastian carefully helped the woman into his car without noticing me at all.

A sharp cramp spread through my lower abdomen, forcing me to crouch down. The neighbor who had just spoken to them noticed me and came over to help.

"Sebastian Morris…" I muttered. "Is he getting married?"

The neighbor didn't seem to notice that anything was wrong with me and smiled.

"That's right! Mr. Morris absolutely adores his girlfriend. They're such a lovely couple! No matter how busy he gets, he always makes time to come home and cook for her. They've even invited us to the wedding. We already received the invitation."

I listened in a daze, unable to get the image of Sebastian and that woman together out of my mind. It felt as if my heart had splintered.

I'd always known Sebastian was busy.

During our three years of long-distance dating, the time difference meant that we often had to wake up in the middle of the night just to talk or video call.

Even when he had dark circles under his eyes from exhaustion, he'd patiently reassure me, "Once things settle down at work, I'll come see you."

And he'd always kept his word.

Once, he'd worked late into the night for two weeks straight and ended up getting sick with a cold. Yet, he'd still rushed back to celebrate my birthday with me.

I hated seeing him exhaust himself like that. All I'd wanted was to put an end to our long-distance relationship so we could finally get married.

But Sebastian always told me that he wanted to wait until his career was more stable before we settled down together.

And so, I'd waited three years.

No matter how much I missed him, I never wanted to put any more pressure on him. Even when I found out I was pregnant, I'd decided to wait until the pregnancy was stable before coming to see him.

I'd wanted to tell him that we could put off the wedding if necessary. I was even willing to give up my job and start over so we could be together.

But he'd already promised to marry someone else.

The neighbor finally noticed how pale I was and asked, "By the way, who are you?"

I didn't answer. I simply walked away.

But as Sebastian's car approached the exit of the apartment complex, I threw caution to the wind and stepped right into its path.

News of our engagement spread throughout Jorvia, eventually reaching Sebastian in prison. He learned about it from a newspaper, and during a visit, he sat behind the glass partition, staring intently at my photograph.I wore an elegant evening gown and smiled brightly, with a man beside me who was far more accomplished than Sebastian could ever hope to be.All of a sudden, Sebastian let out an anguished scream and began slamming his head against the reinforced glass so violently that blood streamed down his forehead."That's my Anna! Give her back to me!"The prison guards immediately rushed over and restrained him. He struggled against them, tears and blood running down his face."It hurts so much! Anna, why won't you make me chamomile tea anymore? You promised I'd be the only man you'd ever love!"Sebastian had completely lost his mind. After his breakdown, he spent every day in prison repeating those same words. The other inmates bullied him, even forcing him to drink filthy

The window slowly rolled up, shutting out the rain and the desperate cries of Sebastian and Clarissa.Sebastian pounded on the glass like a madman. "You can't do this to me! You'll be hurting yourself if you ruin my life! I know you still love me!"I watched his contorted face without a trace of emotion and signaled for the driver to start the car. We sped away, leaving him behind in the mud.Over the next month, the Renault family's legal team worked tirelessly on my case. With the recording as evidence, the authorities determined that my miscarriage had been the result of a premeditated assault, and both Sebastian and Clarissa were arrested. After being blacklisted by Renault Group, Morris Group declared bankruptcy in less than two weeks, leaving the Morrises with nothing but enormous debts. On the day of the trial, I sat in the front row of the public gallery.Sebastian was escorted into the courtroom in prison uniform. Her words hit me so hard that my mind went completely blank."What did you say?" I asked, my voice trembling despite myself.Clarissa watched my reaction with satisfaction."He didn't just know you were pregnant. He knew exactly when you were coming to see him, too. I recorded his conversation with my father when they were negotiating their deal."She pulled an old phone from a waterproof pouch and pressed play.Sebastian's voice came through the speaker, sounding as eager to please as ever."You have nothing to worry about, Mr. Farber. I've already ended things with that woman, and there's no way I'm letting her keep that bastard."When Clary goes over to teach her a lesson, all it takes is one little accident, and the baby will be gone. Then, I'll scare her with that liability waiver. She's an orphan with no one to back her up, so she'll have no choice but to go home. Problem solved, and Clary won't get dragged into it."Every word felt like another knife piercing my heart.

I stared at the box.Years ago, I'd practically lived on plain pasta for six months, saving every penny I could to buy Sebastian that limited-edition watch. I'd even had our initials engraved on the back. But when I gave it to him, he barely looked at it before saying, "Just leave it there."Now, he was using that same watch to convince me to take him back."Open it," I said calmly.Sebastian's eyes lit up, clearly thinking I'd finally softened toward him. He opened the box with trembling hands, revealing the watch inside. Its face was broken."The watch might be broken, but my feelings for you haven't changed." He remained on his knees in the muddy water, looking up at me pleadingly. "Give me one more chance, Anna. I'll treat you like a queen for the rest of my life."I opened the car door, raised a black umbrella over my head, and walked toward him. My heels splashed through a puddle, spraying muddy water onto his suit pants."Sebastian, do you actually love me, or are you

A cold voice came from behind me.Frederick strode toward us in a custom-made black suit, flanked by several bodyguards. He grabbed Sebastian's wrist and flung his hand aside, sending him stumbling backward until he collided with the edge of a table."M-Mr. Renault…" Sebastian stammered in fear the moment he recognized Frederick. The CEO of Renault Group was someone Sebastian had always dreamed of making connections with. In fact, the entire reason he'd attended the gala was to secure an investment. He immediately forced a flattering smile onto his face. "Mr. Renault, you've got it all wrong. This woman is a prostitute. She's been harassing me, and I was just about to have her thrown out."As he spoke, he pointed at me with undisguised contempt.Frederick's expression turned icy. "A prostitute?"He turned to look at me. "Anna, is this how he used to treat you?"Sebastian froze, his gaze darting between Frederick and me. "Mr. Renault, you know her?""Mr. Renault, don't let that

Sebastian's voice trembled, and his eyes immediately reddened.I glanced coldly at the hand gripping my wrist."Let go of me."He seemed taken aback by my tone and immediately released me. His gaze traveled over my designer gown and expensive jewelry, and a hint of contempt crossed his face."Anna, where have you been for the past three years? I've been looking everywhere for you! Do you have any idea how worried I've been?"Worried about me? If the Renaults hadn't made sure there was no trace of me left for him to find, I doubt he would've bothered looking for me at all.Sebastian lowered his voice and chided me, "What are you doing here dressed like that? The men at these parties are all sleazebags. Don't sell yourself short just because you need money."He actually thought I'd come to the gala to find myself a sugar daddy.I raised an eyebrow. "And what business is that of yours, Mr. Morris?"The formal address seemed to infuriate him. He took a deep breath before looking
