Chapter 4

After hearing the commotion, a flight attendant hurried over. "What's going on, ma'am? Please remain calm."

"You want me to remain calm? Can't you see this crazy bitch just splashed water in my face?" Callista pointed at my nose, trembling with rage.

A flight attendant tried to calm Callista down, while another turned to me. "Ma'am, could you please tell us what happened?"

Before I could part my lips, Callista broke free from the flight attendant's hold and lunged at me. "Looks like you're just like that useless old hag. Your husband doesn't love you either, so I must've hit a nerve!"

Without the slightest hesitation, I raised my hand and slapped her hard across the face.

The cabin fell silent in an instant. For a moment, even Korra's cries ground to a halt.

Callista clutched her cheek. Her eyes widened in disbelief before she let out an even more hysterical scream. "How dare you lay your hands on me? Do you have any idea who my husband is? He's the captain of this plane! He's the son of the airline's chairman… You are so dead!"

She turned to the flight attendant and ordered, "Get the captain out here right now! Let him see how his wife is being walked all over!"

The flight attendant looked troubled. "Ma'am, airline regulations state that the captain isn't allowed to leave the cockpit mid-flight."

"Cut the crap! If you don't go, I'll file a complaint against you right this second!" Callista practically bellowed.

The flight attendant hesitated for a moment before heading toward the cockpit.

Several minutes later, she returned with a conflicted look. "Captain Smith said... he's currently handling flight duties and can't leave the cockpit. He asked me to tell everyone to remain calm. He'll deal with this matter after the plane touches down."

Callista was clearly dissatisfied with this response. She was about to lose her shit when the intercom suddenly came to life.

"Dear passengers, we sincerely apologize for the interruption. We've received a report that a passenger in business class has seriously disrupted the order of the cabin and attacked another passenger. Consequently, my wife has been injured.

"My wife specifically boarded this flight to accompany me, only to have such an unpleasant experience. I can't turn a blind eye to the harm that has been done to her.

"Security, please restrain the perpetrator immediately and ensure the safety of the other passengers and my wife. Rest assured, we'll handle this matter properly and ensure the safety of everyone on board."

When the announcement ended, all eyes in the cabin converged on me. Those gazes were filled with disdain, condemnation, and excitement.

"So, she's the one who started it…"

"She looks so put-together. Why would she do such a thing?"

"The captain's wife is so pitiful. Imagine running into something like this on her own husband's flight..."

Whispers came from all directions.

Korra shrank into my arms and whispered, "Mommy, why did Daddy say that?"

I felt a chill run down my spine.

Two security officers soon approached our seats. "Ma'am, please cooperate with us while we get a better understanding of what happened."

Callista beat me to the punch. "This woman slapped me for no reason! My husband just said it over the intercom; she's out of control. Hurry up and restrain her!"

An older flight attendant quietly advised me, "Ma'am, I think you should apologize to this lady. Her husband isn't just the captain; he's also the chairman's son, and he has a lot of influence within the company. It won't end well for you if this matter escalates."

I could hardly believe my ears. "He's the chairman's son? Since when does the chairman of Cathaya Airline have a son?"

That was certainly news to me, considering I had no idea Dad had any other children besides me.

Callista sneered. "What would someone like you know? My husband is Mr. Beaumont's illegitimate son. He only reunited with his family recently. Of course a commoner like you wouldn't be in the loop!"
