Daniel’s Pov

The bright lights of the rehab place hummed. It was a big change from the sunny Miami outside. I watched Maya walk through the doors.

Her shoulders were a bit slumped, but she walked steady. I gave her a thumbs-up. I tried to look strong, but my stomach twisted. She looked back, a small, scared smile on her face. Then she was gone.

I stood there for a bit. The doors closed with a soft sound. My little sister. Always my little sister. Since Mom died, it was just us, suddenly I was

Daniel’s POVMy jaw hung opened, I stared from the two women to Jake. He just stood there grinning, a little too proud of himself. The music, which had seemed loud before, now felt deafening, pushing against the sudden silence in my head."Jake, what the hell is this?" I demanded. My voice was low. It held a warning.Jake shrugged, he acted like this was totally normal. "What's up? Just some company, man. I told you, Casual thing, I was alone. Thought I'd have a blast with some ladies. But hey, since you're here, I'm cool on sharing. No problem at all, plenty of fun to go around." He winked, first at me, then at the two women. The red haired woman, the one in the tight black dress, purred, gliding over to the couch. She sat down beside me, her leg brushed against mine, her eyes held that dangerous sparkle. She moved her hand, slowly, and deliberately. It traced a path up my thigh, then across my stomach, heading higher. Her touch was light, feather like, but it burned through my jeans

Daniel’s PovThe music was loud. The air smelled like stale beer and something sweet. I tossed another dart at the board. It landed just outside the bullseye. "Still got it, old man," Jake ribbed from the couch. He took a long gulp of his drink. His apartment was a mess. Empty pizza boxes, dirty clothes, general Jake chaos. But it was familiar. Comforting in a weird way.I grabbed another dart. My mind drifted back to the past few days. Sienna’s silence. Lila’s anger. The whole messy situation. I swore to myself I was done chasing. Done with the drama. I needed to move on. For myself. For Maya. This whole thing with Sienna was a distraction I couldn't afford. A heavy weight had lifted since I decided to step back. The constant wondering, the worry, it was exhausting. My energy felt different now. Sharper. Focused. I felt a sense of clarity I hadn't had in weeks, maybe months. It was time to build, not just dream. Time to execute."So," Jake announced, a smirk spreading across his fa

Sienna’s povThe slamming of the door still echoed in the quiet of my house, even days later. Lila’s angry words hung in the air, stinging like a thousand tiny cuts. "Weak." "Trap." "Don't make Daniel leave." She was right. She was always right. And that made it hurt even more. I hadn’t left my house much. Each day felt like walking through thick mud, every decision heavy. My mind raced. A confused mess. Part of me wanted to run to Daniel, to feel his arms around me, to let his calm pull me out of this storm. But another part, a louder part, screamed about Zoe. About her pain. About the impossible choice. *My children or my happiness?* It felt like that was the choice Evan was forcing on me. And Zoe was making it even harder.I closed my eyes, and a different time flashed in my mind. A time when Evan wasn’t a bad guy. A time when he was everything. I was so much younger then. Fresh out of art school, trying to find my way.I remember meeting him at a gallery opening. He was tall, char

Lila’s PovMy blood was boiling. I had just left Daniel’s office, my head spinning with everything he told me. Evan proposed? Zoe went to his apartment, screaming at him? And Sienna, my best friend, told me nothing? Not a damn word. I felt like I’d been punched. Betrayed. How could she keep something so huge from me? After everything we’d been through? After I warned her about Evan a hundred times?I grabbed my phone, fingers shaking as I typed her number. Call after call went straight to voicemail. "Pick up, Sienna," I muttered, my voice tight. "Pick up the damn phone." I left angry messages, one after another. "Sienna, it's Lila. Call me back right now. What the hell is going on? Evan proposed? And you didn't tell me? Are you insane?" My voice rose with each message. "And Zoe went to Daniel's? What is this circus? Call me!"But silence. Just her calm voicemail message, which made me even angrier. My calm had snapped. I knew where she lived. I was going there. Now. She couldn't hide

Daniel’s POVSo, here I was. In the bright conference room. The soft hum of the air conditioning was the loudest sound. My brain was filled with numbers, money plans. Jake sat across the polished table. He was going over new figures for the downtown building project. We were in the middle of a serious talk about money and deadlines."The numbers for the financing look strong, Daniel," Jake announced. He pointed at a computer screen. "But we need to close this deal fast. The market is changing."I nodded. "I know. We're pushing the client hard. This new building has to be set in stone by next month."Just then, the conference room door swung open. In walked our client, Mr. Henderson, a serious man in a dark suit. And next to him, a woman. My breath caught in my throat. Sienna’s best friend. She looked just as I remembered. Sharp. Stylish. Her hair was pulled back tightly. Her eyes, usually warm when she was with Sienna, were cold and professional today. She wore a perfectly fitting su

Zoe’s POVMy dad looked at me. His eyes were soft. "Sienna," he said, his voice quiet, "your mom just needs to remember what's real. What truly matters. She's been through a lot. She's vulnerable right now." He took my hand. "That Daniel guy. He's just a distraction. A young, rich thrill. Not something serious for her."I nodded. My stomach twisted. I believed him. Dad was hurting too. I saw it. He loved us. He wanted our family back together. "But she said no to you, Dad," I whispered. My throat felt tight."Because she's confused, sweetheart," he insisted. He squeezed my hand gently. "This Daniel has her head spinning. He’s putting ideas in her head. Ideas that aren’t good for her. Or for us. He’s taking her away from our family. From you and your brother." He looked at me, really looked at me. "She needs someone to show her the truth. Someone to remind her what she’s throwing away. Our family, Zoe. Our life together.""What can I do?" I asked. My voice was small. I wanted to help.
