Chapter 1

Author: Peachy
My mate, Alpha Larry, marked my best friend, Chloe, betrayed me, and killed me and our unborn pup with a silver dagger.

Reborn on the day I was meant to choose my mate, I chose Larry's younger brother, Derek—an outcast in a wheelchair, with a wolf they said was broken.

The first thing I did after my rebirth was march into the Blackwood Alpha's office and declare my choice.

With the decision made, I walked out of his office.

But the moment I stepped out the door, my path was blocked.

Larry stood in the middle of the hallway, three of his followers flanking him.

They barred my way, all wearing the same arrogant smirk.

"Finished sucking up to my father already?" Larry asked, crossing his arms and looking down at me. "Working hard to secure your spot as the future Luna, are we?"

I stopped and looked at him calmly. "Move."

He clicked his tongue, shaking his head as he looked me up and down. "Look at you. The Silver Moon princess, gracing our pack with your presence. You're just desperate to marry me, aren't you?"

Larry slowly walked closer, unleashing the full force of his Alpha aura.

"The connection between us was destined by the Moon Goddess. You can feel it, can't you?"

I could.

That damned fated mate pull, wrapping around us like a chain.

But this time, I refused to be bound by it.

"Even after we're mated, I expect to be with whoever I please," Larry said, his smirk casual. "That's only fair, don't you think?"

A familiar, sharp pain lanced through my heart.

He'd said the exact same thing in my last life.

At our mating ceremony, in front of the entire pack.

Only this time, he was saying it sooner.

He… he was reborn, too?

Did he really expect me to accept this filthy mate bond again, just like last time?

"And you expect me to accept such an insult?" I sneered.

"Insult?" Larry raised an eyebrow. "It's called reality, Reina. Did you really think fated mates meant we had to be faithful?"

"Reina!"

A cloyingly sweet voice called out from down the hall.

Chloe came jogging over in a pink dress, looking fragile and sweet.

She stopped in front of us, feigning breathlessness, and gave Larry a soft look before lowering her head.

"I heard voices and was worried you two were fighting," she said quietly. "Reina, are you okay?"

Larry immediately moved to her side, his hand resting gently on her shoulder.

"It's fine. I was just discussing some post-marriage arrangements with the princess."

A flash of hurt crossed Chloe's eyes, but she quickly hid it.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have interrupted," she said, stepping back with red-rimmed eyes. "I was just worried... Larry, you know how intense you can be. I didn't want you to upset Reina."

A perfect performance.

The exact same script as my past life.

She always pretended to be the understanding friend while meddling in my relationship with Larry.

I was once so blind I'd considered Chloe my only friend in the Blackwood Pack.

But I wouldn't be fooled by her again.

"Chloe's right," he said, turning back to me with a frown. "As the future Luna, you need to learn some humility."

"Humility?" I couldn't help but laugh. "To you?"

"To your future Alpha," he corrected, his tone leaving no room for argument. "It is the will of the Moon Goddess."

Larry took a step forward, his aura pressing down harder. "Don't think being the Silver Moon princess gives you the right to be defiant. In the Blackwood Pack, I'm in charge."

I looked at him, then at Chloe playing the damsel by his side.

They thought they had everything under control.

"Larry, I think you've misunderstood something," I said calmly.

"Misunderstood?" he scoffed. "You came all this way to our pack to finalize our mating ceremony, didn't you?"

He turned to Chloe. "Go on ahead. My future Luna and I have things to discuss."

Chloe nodded obediently, casting a worried glance at me before she left.

Once she was gone, Larry's smirk turned into a full-blown sneer.

"Keep this up, Reina, and don't be surprised when I reject you at the ceremony."

Hearing Larry's words, I froze. How could he admit it so shamelessly?"'This life'?" I slowly turned around. "You have the audacity to speak of that life?"Larry realized what he'd said, and his face went pale."I... I didn't mean...""Since you brought it up," I stood up, looking down at him coldly, "then you should know, there is nothing you could ever do to make me forgive you."Larry stared at me in shock, as if he'd seen a ghost."You... you couldn't possibly..." he stumbled backward. "You're... reborn, too?""Yes," I sneered. "I remember everything. I remember the silver. I remember the pain. I remember bleeding out in your arms while you watched."Though wounded, Derek was sharp enough to understand the terrifying truth behind our words. He forced himself to his feet and stood protectively in front of me.Larry's face was ashen, his body swaying."No... that's impossible... if you knew all along..." His eyes suddenly widened in horror. "Then everything... everything I did to you

On the day of the mating ceremony, the sun was exceptionally bright.I was dressed in a silver-white ceremonial gown, ready to head to the sacred altar. This was the day Derek and I would formally complete our soul-bond.The carriage moved slowly along the stone path to the altar, flanked by a dense forest.Suddenly, the carriage jerked to a stop."What's wrong?" I asked, pulling back the curtain. The driver's voice trembled. "Luna, someone is blocking the road."I looked out and saw Larry standing in the middle of the path.He looked haggard and worn, his face unshaven, his eyes wild with desperation."Reina, get out," he said, his voice hoarse. "Come with me."I didn't move. "Move, Larry.""I won't move," he said, walking step by step toward the carriage. "This ceremony isn't happening."Just then, another carriage came up from behind.Derek jumped out and rushed to my side."Are you alright?" he asked, his voice tense.I nodded, taking his hand. "I'm fine."Seeing us holding hands,

A wave of nausea washed over me as I looked at Larry kneeling on the ground."Get up," I said, my voice flat. "Pathetic."Larry looked up, his eyes filled with desperation. "Reina, I know I was wrong. Give me a chance. I'll prove we were made for each other.""Made for each other?" I couldn't help but laugh. "Larry, stop lying to yourself. You've never truly wanted me.""No, it's you! Only you!" he scrambled to his feet."It's Chloe," I said, my voice flat. "Your eyes, your body, your scent—they all scream for her."Larry's face went white.Chloe picked herself up off the ground, tears streaming down her face as she looked at Larry. "Larry, is that true? Do you... do you really care about me?"Larry looked at her, then back at me, his eyes filled with conflict.Suddenly, he raised his hand and slapped Chloe hard across the face."Shut up!" he roared. "Who do you think you are?"Chloe clutched her cheek, staring at him in disbelief."You're nothing but a low-blooded omega! A convenient

Reina's POVThe next evening, I was reading in my room when there was a soft knock on the door."Come in."Derek entered. He was back in his usual casual clothes, but the golden light in his eyes still flickered."Do you have a minute to talk?" he asked, his voice more cautious than usual.I put down my book and nodded. "Of course."He sat across from me, silent for a long moment before finally speaking. "If you're having second thoughts... it's not too late.""What?" I stared at him, caught off guard."To call it off. Our mating," he said, looking me straight in the eye. "After last night, I did a lot of thinking. Maybe you only chose me to escape Larry, but that's not fair to you."I frowned. "Why would you say that?""Because I can see it," Derek said with a bitter smile. "There's a pull between you and Larry, even if you deny it. And me... I'm just the weapon you're using against him.""No," I said immediately. "You're not a weapon.""Then why?" Derek's eyes were filled with confu

The tension of the ceremony dissolved into the forced cheer of a lavish reception.I stood alone on the balcony, letting the cool night breeze tug at my dress. The night's events replayed in my mind—a whirlwind of shock, triumph, and lingering fear."Regretting it?"Derek's voice came from behind me.I turned to see him walking slowly toward me.The formal suit seemed to awaken something in him, an air of long-suppressed nobility that now settled on him effortlessly. But what struck me most was the change in his eyes. That golden glow was still there, flickering with an inner fire.A memory from my past life surfaced. It was the scene after my death, the rage in Derek's eyes when he learned the truth. He had challenged Larry, two massive wolves tearing at each other under the moonlight. In the end, Derek's claws had pierced Larry's chest. His words from that day echoed in my memory: "For her, I would have become a monster."The thought made my eyes well up."No," I answered softly.
