Chapter 1

Anna’s POV

I thought my cold Don only became needy and seductive for me—until today, while making out with him in our bedroom, I saw another man in the yard with my husband’s exact face. That was when I realized the hot, desperate man in my bed had never been my husband at all, but his twin brother.

Tonight was just another dinner party between a few mafia families.

I was talking with several Donnas when a text from my husband, Silas, lit up my phone.

“Meet me on the rooftop.”

The second I saw it, my heart began to race.

Silas loved pulling me away whenever he wanted me. I used to think it was just one of his little kinks—the secrecy, the danger, the chance that someone might catch us.

And honestly? I didn’t hate it.

Silas was cold to everyone else. He barely smiled. Most people didn’t even dare raise their voices around the youngest Don of the Monroe family.

But behind closed doors, he was different.

Hungry. Possessive. Addicted.

The kind of man who whispered that he couldn’t get enough of me, that he wanted to keep me tangled with him forever.

“If you’ll excuse me,” I said with a smile, then turned and headed upstairs.

Before I could reach the rooftop, I was yanked into a dark room by a strong arm.

I gasped, but a hand covered my mouth.

“It’s me, babe.” Silas’s voice.

I pushed his hand away and frowned at him. “Didn’t you say to meet you on the rooftop?”

His mouth curved. “I thought this might be more thrilling.”

The noise from the party still drifted through the wall.

“Isn’t this room a little too close?” I whispered.

Silas leaned in until his lips almost touched mine. “Then you’d better keep your voice down, babe.”

He lifted me easily, my thighs locking around his waist, before his mouth found mine.

The kiss was eager and hot, sliding lower until his lips brushed my collarbone.

A soft moan slipped out before I could stop it.

Silas smiled against my skin, clearly pleased, as his hands tightened on me.

I was trapped between his hard chest and the cold wall.

And on the other side of that wall were nearly twenty people.

“Not here…”

Silas swallowed the rest of my protest with his mouth.

He kissed me like a starving man, one hand freeing itself to cup my breast, his thumb brushing over me with slow, deliberate pressure.

I bit back a moan, praying no sound would slip out. But the pleasure kept building, his touch setting fire to every inch of my skin.

Before I could gather myself, his hand slipped lower.

“So wet already?” he murmured.

Heat rushed to my cheeks.

I turned my face away, refusing to look at him. He was the one who made me like this, and now he had the nerve to tease me for it.

Silas chuckled softly, but his fingers didn’t stop.

I sucked in a sharp breath as my body tightened around the feeling of him. He was gentle at first, almost patient, as if he had all the time in the world.

I knew I shouldn’t give in.

There were too many people right outside that wall.

But one look into Silas’s eyes, one slow movement of his hand, and every bit of reason I had left fell apart.

Before I could catch my breath, his mouth found mine again, forcing me to swallow another moan as heat rushed through me.

The room felt smaller, hotter, nowhere for me to escape.

Only when I shivered through my first release did Silas finally pull back.

I clung to his neck, my legs weak, my breathing unsteady.

When I looked down, my evening gown was a mess. He might have even torn part of it.

I didn’t need a mirror to know my face was flushed.

“I missed you, babe,” Silas murmured, his breath warm against my neck.

The words should have made me melt.

Instead, they reminded me that he had been gone for three days before this party—and he hadn’t called me once.

I turned my head away.

Silas pinched my cheek lightly. “Mi amor, please don’t be mad at me…”

When I still refused to answer, he started pressing kisses to my cheeks, then my ears, one after another.

“Alright, alright,” I finally muttered. “I forgive you.”

The moment I said it, Silas chuckled and leaned in, resting his head against my neck.

Who would have thought such a powerful Don could be so childish when it was just the two of us?

And the worst part was, I could never stay angry at him. He had a million ways to soften me up, and every single one of them worked.

My mind drifted back to a year ago.

Silas had reached the age where marriage was expected, and my family wanted stronger ties with the Monroes.

An arranged marriage was expected.

Everyone warned me that Silas was rigid and serious. My best friend even joked that I might stay a virgin forever, because Silas seemed interested in nothing but his casino and his money.

Honestly, I thought the same.

Born into a mafia family, I knew better than to expect real love. So I decided I would simply be a good Donna to him.

Who would have thought that, in only one year, Silas and I would grow this close?

Literally so close. When we weren’t tangled together in bed, we were kissing, touching, or curled up in each other’s arms like we couldn’t bear to be apart.

He can’t hurt either of us.”He did not say anything. But somehow, I felt as if he already had.He pulled me into his arms and rubbed his cheek against mine with almost painful affection.“Anna,” he murmured, “I’m sorry I couldn’t help you this time. You had to go after Silas by yourself.”I hugged him tighter. “You have been a great help, Eric, you saved my life. Twice.”I replied to the email. “I want Silas to end his marriage with his Donna, Anna Halt. I only told him that my relationship with Silas was not working out the way I had thought.Father was a smart man. He understood what I was hinting at and did not press further. He only told the lawyer to give me whatever I needed.“You know Papa will always support you, right?”When I heard him say that, I almost cried. In my last life, I had died so early that I never got the chance to take care of my parents. Anna’s POVThe moment I reached the top floor, I heard voices. It was Mary. And Silas, who I had thought had already left.“Eric was badly hurt this time,” Mary said coldly. “The doctor said they don’t know if he’ll survive.”Her voice held no warmth at all.As if the man lying inside was not her son.Silas curled his lips, even colder than she was. “Isn’t that his own fault? Playing hero for Anna? Who does he think he is?”“I’m just glad you’re fine, son,” Mary said. “I heard Vanessa is pregnant. Perhaps we should move faster with the plan to hide Anna away, so you and Vanessa can be together lawfully.”My hands tightened on the wheels of the chair.Mary turned toward the ICU room again.“The fortune teller said Eric came into this world to collect a debt. He’s a jinx. If he lives, your fate will never be stable.”Her voice lowered. “Maybe this is for the best. We can tell the public Eric tried to save his sister-in-law from a car accident, but neither of them survived. Two birds, one

Anna’s POVI spent the rest of the meal on edge.I had thought my relationship with Eric was already complicated enough. But now, with his rebirth story and the fate he claimed was waiting for me, my mind was an even bigger mess.During the main course, Silas was suddenly called away by a phone call. From the look on his face, one name immediately appeared in my mind.Vanessa.He left in such a hurry that he even forgot his coat.Since he had gone early, Mary suggested we call it a night.I refused the offer of a driver and got behind the wheel myself.I needed to be alone.I needed time to think everything through. …I had just driven out of Mary’s mansion when my phone rang inside my purse.“Anna! Anna’s POV“Did Silas send you to me so he wouldn’t have to come himself?” My voice was calmer than I expected.Especially considering I had just heard my own husband talking to his childhood sweetheart. And judging by their conversation, they were still very much involved. What a funny marriage.I had spent days drowning in guilt because I had slept with Silas’s brother, while Silas had been busy living his own love story.“It’s not that simple,” Eric said, taking a step closer. The usual teasing look had disappeared from his face. “We know each other far better than you think, Anna.”I frowned.Eric drew in a breath. “I was reborn into this life. I know it sounds insane, but one day I woke up with all these strange dreams in my head. Except they weren’t dreams. They were memories. And every single one of them started coming true.”His gaze locked on mine. “Including you marrying my brother.”My brows pulled together. It was not like I had never heard of rebirth.
