After lunch, Penelope and Marcus began packing for their camping trip.Marcus had already prepared most of what they needed while she was asleep. There were only a few personal items left for Penelope to pack, so it didn't take long.Once the hottest part of the day had passed, they set off for South Mountain on the outskirts of the city. Thanks to the good night's sleep she'd finally gotten, Penelope was bursting with energy throughout the drive. When they arrived, she happily left Marcus in charge of setting up the tent and wandered off to explore the area.By the time she'd made a full circuit of the campsite, Marcus was only halfway through putting up the tent.Seeing him sweating as he struggled to do everything himself, Penelope felt a rare twinge of guilt. She walked over and poked him in the back. The unexpected touch startled Marcus so badly that his hand jerked, sending the air pump tumbling to the ground. The tent immediately began losing air and collapsed into a li

After successfully taking back full control of Lawson Group, the first thing Penelope did was put an end to the campaign against the Carter family.Carter Group gradually began recovering from its troubles, and things were finally looking up.But now Penelope was the busy one.She worked late into the night almost every day, rarely making it home before midnight. One evening, she finally managed to leave work earlier than usual.By the time she got home, she was utterly exhausted.Seeing how bloodshot her eyes were from all those late nights, Marcus couldn't help feeling sorry for her.Once she'd washed up, he urged her to get some rest. But Penelope simply leaned against him, whining softly."I finally finished all the urgent work. I'm exhausted. Don't move. Just let me lean on you for a little while."She rarely acted this affectionate and needy, and Marcus's heart softened immediately. He stroked her hair and gently coaxed her."How about I carry you to bed? After that day, neither Penelope nor Marcus returned to the hospital.Adrian never saw them again.Gradually, he came to accept that he might never walk again. But he grew quieter by the day, losing interest in almost everything. It was another month before he was finally discharged.During that month, Penelope successfully regained control of Lawson Group. On the day she officially took over as the company's president, she went to see Adrian of her own accord for the first time since being reborn."Adrian, I can finally manage things on my own now. Don't worry. I won't let Lawson Group fall apart under my leadership."She looked at Adrian, who sat in his wheelchair, withdrawn and miserable. Then she smiled."And even though you're no longer running the company, the Lawson family will still take care of you for the rest of your life."Adrian now found himself in much the same position Penelope had been in when he'd first imprisoned her.All he could do was sit by the window,

Outside the hospital room, Penelope and Marcus had come for a follow-up appointment. On the day of the fire, the smoke had been so thick that Marcus had inhaled several lungfuls when he saw Penelope running back into the burning hall. The smoke had irritated his throat, leaving him hoarse for days.Although Marcus repeatedly assured her that he was fine, Penelope couldn't stop worrying. She insisted on bringing him back to the hospital for another checkup. It wasn't until the doctor confirmed that nothing was seriously wrong and that he just needed a few more days of rest that she finally relaxed."See? I told you there was nothing wrong."Marcus sounded helplessly amused. He was about to say more when Penelope covered his mouth with her hand."Alright, the doctor said it's nothing serious, but he also told you to avoid talking too much for the next few days."She knew she was making a bigger fuss than necessary, and her cheeks turned slightly pink.Marcus noticed her embarras

Moira stayed by Adrian's bedside for three days before he finally showed signs of waking up."Pen..."His voice was so low and hoarse that anyone who wasn't paying attention might have missed it.But Moira had been watching him closely. She heard him clearly. That single name hit her like a punch to the chest, draining every bit of color from her face.Even after Penelope had abandoned him in the fire, she was still the first person he called for when he woke up.Adrian opened his eyes.Agonizing pain shot through his upper body, but he couldn't feel anything below his waist.Yet he seemed completely unaware of the difference. His eyes darted around the room, searching for someone. He looked again and again, but there was no sign that anyone had visited except Moira, who sat beside his bed, her face pale. Finally, his gaze settled on her.But the first question out of his mouth had nothing to do with her."Where's Penelope?
