SERENA

I was sitting on the edge of the examination bed with a crinkly paper sheet under me, my feet dangling slightly as I listened to the doctor talk and nodded along even though my mind kept drifting in and out. She was kind in a very practiced way, the sort of kindness that came from seeing too many anxious women every single day, and she spoke calmly while scrolling through my file.

"Everything looks good so far," she said, glancing up at me with a reassuring smile. "Blood pressure is stable, baby's heartbeat is strong, and your weight gain is right where we want it to be."

"That's good," I said quietly, my hand resting instinctively on my stomach even though I still wasn't fully used to doing that in public.

She gave me a few reminders about staying hydrated, avoiding stress as much as possible, and making sure I didn't skip meals just because work got busy, and I tried not to laugh at that last part because my entire job felt like one long skipped meal lately. She handed me a s

SERENAMaria did not wait for the door to fully close before she lost it.The sound of the lock clicking shut had barely finished echoing when she turned on Adrian, her heels striking the marble floor sharply as she stormed toward him, her eyes immediately dropping to the small suitcase in my hand and the overnight bag slung over my shoulder.“What the hell is this?” she snapped, her voice already pitched high with anger. “What is she doing here?”Adrian didn’t even flinch. He set his keys down slowly on the console like he was bracing himself for something he already knew was coming.“She’s staying with us for a while,” he said evenly. “She’s not safe on her own.”I froze where I stood, my fingers tightening around the handle of my suitcase as if that might somehow ground me. I suddenly felt very aware of how out of place I looked standing in the middle of his penthouse with my messy hair, flat shoes, and hospital bracelet still around my wrist.Maria laughed, but there was nothing a

SERENALeaving the hospital felt strange, like I was stepping out into the world too soon even though the doctor had said I was fine and kept repeating that word like it was supposed to mean something solid. Adrian walked beside me the entire time, close but not touching unless he absolutely had to, his hand hovering near my elbow whenever I slowed down or hesitated, like he was afraid I might crumble if he let me out of his sight.“You don’t have to rush,” he said quietly when I paused near the elevator. “We’ve got time.”“I’m not rushing,” I replied, even though I probably was. “I just want to leave.”He nodded and didn’t argue, which I appreciated more than I wanted to admit. The elevator ride down was silent except for the faint hum of movement and the soft ding when we passed each floor. I leaned back against the wall and closed my eyes briefly, feeling the weight of the last twenty four hours press down on me all over again. Adrian stood in front of me, angled slightly like he w

SERENAI woke up slowly, and the first thing I noticed was the dryness in my mouth, the kind that made it feel like my tongue was too big for my own teeth. Then there was the dull ache behind my eyes, and the heaviness in my limbs that made it feel like someone had stacked weights on my arms and legs while I was asleep. I tried to move my hand and it took more effort than it should have, which immediately annoyed me because I hated feeling weak. The second thing I noticed was the smell, that sharp sterile smell that I'd come to recognize way too well lately, and my stomach dropped before I even opened my eyes.I was in the hospital.I cracked my eyes open slowly, blinking against the harsh light above me, and for a second everything was blurry and doubled. White ceiling. Beeping somewhere to my left. The quiet hum of machines doing things I didn't fully understand. I swallowed and winced when my throat protested."Shit," I muttered under my breath.I turned my head slightly, and that

SERENAThe ride back to the city was quiet as Lily and I sat in the back of Mr. Winchester’s Rolls Royce Phantom. The driver barely spoke, only offering a polite greeting before focusing on the road like his life depended on it. Lily sat beside me in the backseat, her legs tucked up again and her book resting on her lap like it was an extension of her body.“So,” she said after a few minutes, breaking the silence. “Do you think Harry should have ended up with Hermione?”I smiled despite everything and said, “That is a very dangerous question. I’d rather not answer it.”She grinned and said, “My dad says Ron is underrated.”“Your dad is brave for admitting that out loud,” I said. “I think Ron gets more hate than he deserves, but Harry and Hermione would have been chaotic together.”“Good chaos or bad chaos?”“Bad chaos,” I said without hesitation. “Their relationship would have probably been the type where nobody talks about their feelings and everyone pretends they’re fine.”“Well I s

SERENAWhen Mr. Winchester invited me to golf, my first instinct was to say no, because golf felt like one of those things you only did if you were born rich or had enough free time on your hands. But he framed it as a networking opportunity, and then he added, “No pressure, Serena. You can just ride along and talk,” which made it sound less intimidating and more like a long business lunch. So I agreed. The course was massive, and there were so many people everywhere. Everything was green and painfully neat, with staff moving around quietly and smiling at everyone politely. Mr. Winchester greeted me with an easy smile, already dressed in a polo shirt that probably cost more than my monthly grocery bill, and introduced me to the small group of men he was playing with.“Gentlemen, this is Serena Hale,” he said, resting a hand lightly on my back in a way that felt professional but familiar. “She’s the one I told you about. Sharpest mind I’ve met in a long time.”That made my stomach tigh

  • I Got Pregnant For The Wrong Twin   Chapter Seventy One

UNKNOWN POVI'd been sitting there longer than I meant to.The engine was off, the street was quiet, and the building across the road glowed softly like it always did at this hour. I knew the pattern now. I knew when the lights came on, which windows stayed dark, and which ones flickered. I knew which security guard worked nights and which one pretended not to notice familiar faces. And right on cue, Serena Hale appeared exactly when I expected her to.She moved differently than she used to. She was slower now, and far more careful. One hand instinctively drifted to her stomach as she stepped inside, like she was protecting something precious without even thinking about it. The sight of her still did something to me, something low and restless that I refused to name out loud. She was beautiful in a way that made people stupid, and dangerous in a way that made them forget their place. But the fucking baby ruined the symmetry of it all.I watched the elevator lights climb up slowly, cou
