RAIN
Xavier's eyes find me the moment I step through the cafeteria doors. He looks from me to Greg who is smiling by my side and his blank stare turns murderous. He nudges Derrick who turns his attention on us. Greg whispers that I should ignore them and leads me to the lunch line to grab something to eat. We get our lunch and he leads me to the basketball table. It's really three tables that has been jammed together. "Hey guys." Greg says. "This is Rain. Is it cool if she joins us today?" This was a bad idea. What if they refuse? One guy finally stands up. "Hell yeah, she can join us. That idiot is pissed off and she's the reason why." They make space for Greg and I and we take our seats. The guy that said it was cool for me to join puts out his hands for me shake. "Hi, I'm Nic, Greg's cousin." I look from Nic to Greg with a smile, I do see the family resemblance. Lunch is uneventful. Derrick still throws death glares at us but he doesn't come here. I zone out of the conversation at the table. High school boys are dogs. Thank God none of the guys I've had anything to do with go here. ***** I mute the TV and listen closely to the environment. I heard a sound but I’m not sure what it was. A few seconds go by and I hear it again. There's someone at the door. It's not my dad, he has a key and it’s not Eva, she would have texted. It's not Greg right? Dropping me home yesterday didn't make him think he had the right to knock at door whenever he wants right? I stand up and go to open the door. I look through the peephole and the person has a black hoodie on and he's bending his head. I grab the bat near the door and hold it firmly. "Who's there?" I ask. The person doesn't answer, just raises his hand and knocks again. I look out the window and see that some guys I recognize from the neighborhood are standing around, good. If this turns out on be a robbery. I can scream for help. "Rain, open the door," the person says. Xavier? There is no way. I quickly pull open the door and Xavier raises his head. He looks tired and frustrated. Why is he in my house? "Was that for me?" He asks, looking down at the bat. "What are you doing here Xavier?" I ask, ignoring his question. "Stay away from new guy." He says. "What? You came all this way to ask me to stay away from my friend who is keeping safe from you and your friends? No." "So you're just friends?" That's the only thing he got from what I said? "You're crazy Xavier, leave my house." I try to close the door but he puts his foot in and pushes his way through. He locks the door and pushes his hoodie back. "My father is home, Xavier. I will scream" "He isn't." He says flat out. "If you hurt me, I swear to God Xavier, you won't make it out of this neighborhood." He rolls his eyes and moves further into my home. He enters the living room and takes a seat. "Nice place. We all thought you lived in the trailer park. Imagine my surprise when I followed you home the yesterday..." I interrupt him, "You followed me home!" I'm getting to get a little worried. He turns to look at me. "You got into his car." "Are you listening to yourself? You sound crazy Xavier. We shared a kiss, that doesn't make me yours." "How many kisses will it take then?" "Zero! I'm not kissing you any more Xavier. That was a moment of temporary insanity." He stands and I move back. "Let me change your mind." He says. "No, leave my house." He grabs me before I can realize what he's doing and traps me in his arms. "You smell so fucking good, Rain." I try to pull myself away now that I can still think for myself. He bend's his head and kisses my neck. I find myself moving my neck to give him access. Gosh, I'm so weak. "Please," Xavier whispers as his trails kisses from my neck to my lips. He kisses me and I kiss him back. The bat falls out of my hand as Xavier lifts me and I cross my hands on his neck. He deepens the kiss and I moan into his lips. "Which one is your room?" Xavier says. I look around, disoriented and point to my room. "I want to fuck you, Rain. If you don't want that, then now is the time to say so." I should tell him no. I should throw him out but looking into his eyes, I can't bring myself to do it. "I want that."RAINXavier's eyes find me the moment I step through the cafeteria doors. RAINHe kissed me. He was the one who trapped me in a supply closet and kissed me. Why does he get to be angry? When he didn't say anything about the prank, I had deceived myself into thinking he was a halfway decent person but then he had to go and point out Greg to his friends. I know it was him, I noticed him looking seconds before all his friends turned and were staring at us.Then by the football field, he just stood back glaring at me as Derrick scared the shit out of Greg.Speaking of Greg, I was so disappointed yesterday. He was in three of my classes before lunch and he was talking to me in class. It felt good so I didn't warn him. I knew sooner or later he would find out why everyone was giving him weird looks for talking to me. I just didn't expect for him to walk off like that. He left me there like a cowardly dog and the thought just annoys me.Bringing out food from my lunch bag fills me with sadness. My dad spent a lot of time making it this morning and I don't have the
XAVIER I don't have any classes with Rain which sucks for my plan but I anticipate seeing her at lunch. Today I sit next to Eric who always sits facing Rain's table. I watch them come in and go to the lunch line to get food. Rain goes with them but doesn't get anything. She never gets anything from the cafeteria. She always brings her own food. Today she doesn't even bring food. When they return to the table, everybody is eating except her. She's on her phone but sometimes raises her head to talk to the stoners’ girlfriend.Someone kicks me under the table. I look up and Camden is giving me a look."Cut it out," he mouths.I smirk and put a fry into my mouth. "Are you coming to practice today?" Derrick asks."Yeah, I'll be there. Hopefully, coach isn't too mad."Hopefully he is and he kicks me off the team. He won't though. He's on my dad's payroll. He won't do anything to fuck his money up.A female hand slides across my back and I roll my eyes. Lacey shoves Eric and sits between
XAVIER The second my alarm goes off, I turn it off. I didn't sleep a wink last night and it's all because of Rain Simmons. Kissing her was a bad idea but I couldn't help myself. It was bad week of my father forcing me to do his bidding and she was standing there in the dimly lit room, her hair shiny and her eyes wide.I couldn't concentrate on the fact that she was setting the place up to prank my friends and I. She was so beautiful and when she bit her lips in fear, something snapped inside me and I couldn't hold myself. The real surprise though was when she kissed me back. That's what kept me up at night, she fucking kissed me back and it was good. Easily the best kiss of my life and she didn't even notice. Then stupid Hank set fire to the history teacher’s car and the police came. I wasn't supposed to be there last night, Dad threatened and warned me. As soon as I heard the sirens I knew I had to sneak out of there fast. I parked away from school so it was easy to just sneak off a
RAINEva picks me up in her car and we get to school together. We join Buck and the rest of the guys by the entrance and watch as the students trickle in their flashy clothes and props. We have no interest in pranking teachers, we're aiming for the students that we don't like. Eva and Nick are going to help me set up.While they are distracted with rigging classrooms and teachers lounges, we'll be in their lockers doing our thing. We plan to do it just before the light goes off then Eva and I will find a place to hide while the guys do their thing.Once everyone is inside and the halls are clear, Buck, Eva and I start setting up. The fear of being caught has my heart beating wildly in my chest. We start from Derrick’s locker. If I'm going to get caught, I want to have at least done something to the biggest asshole of the group. Buck found a way to get their locker combinations. Next, I rig Camden's locker. After Camden's locker, my nerves calm down and I start feeling more confident.
RAINThankfully, the first week of school went by without a lot of visits from Derrick. He bothered me once on Wednesday and Friday but he was mostly busy planning the back to school party. Whispers this morning say it was a great party. This morning, I didn't see them at all. I made sure I was in class before the bell and after all my classes, I blended in with the crowd and slipped into the next class. Living life like a ninja is something I've become used to.Eva waves me over when she sees me. She's really taking this friend thing seriously. I'm embarrassed to say I like it. I've never had someone volunteer to be my friend. I've always been the girl in rich schools that she can't afford and I sadly got in Derrick's bad book early in my high school career so people stayed away from me."Hey, you. How was your weekend?" Eva asks.I take a seat and start taking my lunch out. "It was quiet. I did chores around the house and my homework.""That's it? That's all you did during the wee
