CHAPTER ELEVEN

XAVIER

I gently place her on the bed and take off my top. She rises a little, resting on her elbows and is watching me.

"What are we doing?" She asks.

"I don't know, let's not over-think it."

I do know. I'm scratching a two year itch. Two years of wondering what she tastes like and I finally have my chance to taste every inch of her.

"I do have to over-think it, you and your friends are the reason why my highschool experience sucked."

She's over-thinking and it's not good for me. Should I apologize? I feel like that's the best thing to do in this case. It's also going to sound fake. I am sorry, it just wasn't my fight and the guys don't interfere in my issue.

"Don't give me fake apologies." She says.

How did she do that? I have a lock on my thoughts and it's not easy to get a read on me.

"Alright, I won't. Do you want to stop?"

She considers it for a second. "This is just about sex? It's not a bet you had with your friend’s right?"

I scoff. "You think Derrick will be okay with any bet that ends here?"

"Don't bring him into this please."

Right, I shouldn't bring him into this. "It's just sex. There is no bet."

She nods. "You seem very blasé about this." I say.

She laughs, it's a beautiful sound. "You think you're the only person who enjoys sex?"

I bend my head and kiss her. If she starts listing all the people she has had sex with, I'll flip out. This is a onetime thing, I don't need to know."

The memories from last night come flooding in the second I wake up. Before I open my eyes, I already know what I'll find. I open them anyway to see Rain.

Just like I thought, her skin is very soft. I press a soft kiss on her shoulders and she moves. She turns and has a smile on her face. She's smiling at me. The sight is unexpected and I don't know what to do with it. Last night, I came to tell her to stay away from new guy then calmly broach the subject of the kiss and see how she reacts to it.

All my plans when it comes to Rain are always changing the second I lay eyes on her. Next thing, I know, I'm kissing her and she's kissing me back and I'm moving to her bedroom. I can't fucking get over how much it rules that she's into me.

I know I'm attractive. I'm tall, good looking, rich and smart but my friends and I have been making her life hell for years now. I pull her closer to me and breathe her in. Last night was great. I didn't know sex could feel that good.

My phone dings with my father's personalized tone and my body goes cold. I'm brought back to my harsh reality, I shouldn't be here. I told myself I just need the one time, it's time to mean it and stick to it. Nothing good is going to come out of being here when she wakes up. I quietly leave the bed, grab my clothes and sneak out. Outside her room, I listen for any signs that her father is home. When I don't find any, I walk freely out the door.

It's still dark outside. I booked a ride here yesterday and I try to book another one but no one is available so I walk until I'm a few blocks from the school at the parking lot where I parked my car. Practice had ended very late yesterday and I was still thinking about new guy and Rain. She sat at the basketball table yesterday and the looks those guys were giving us drove me mad.

We finished practice and coach pulled me back to tell me what my father expected of me this season. I was barely listening and by the time he was done, I was angry and the only person still in school. Before I could talk sense into myself, I'm parking my car at a parking lot close to school and I'm booking a ride to Rain's house. I waited outside for a while to make sure she was the only person at home before I knocked on her door.

Rain makes me act crazy. Luckily, this is the end of the madness, I've had her, now I can concentrate on my life and leave her to hers.

The ride back home is short and full of flashbacks from the night before. Every time I find myself smiling, I remind myself that it was just sex. Great sex, but just sex.

The lights come on the second I enter the kitchen for a glass of water. My father is sitting and two heavy looking guards are standing behind him. Shit.

"Where were you last night?" He asks.

"You've never cared before."

"Xavier, these men are here to beat the shit out of you if you piss me off, choose your words wisely."

"I was out with my friend."

"None of your friends knew where you were."

He called them? Of course he called them and they fucking spoke to him, the traitors. Now I can't even be free around them? I can't trust them?

"And your girlfriend didn't see you either if that's the next lie you want to tell."

"Lacey is not my girlfriend." I say.

He signals one of the guards and he comes forward and punches my stomach. The punch hurts and I clutch my stomach in pain. The son of a bitch actually did it.

"Your car was abandoned in a parking lot close to your school and you were screening my calls last night."

He knew where I parked? Leaving the car there was a mercy. The dad I know would have taken it to teach me a lesson.

"I'm not telling you where I was. Your thugs can beat me up all they want."

He eyes me before giving them the go ahead. The two of them come at me and I fight them as much as I can but they do this for a living and I don't stand a chance. They hit everywhere but my face. My father doesn't want people asking questions. Right now, all my friends think I'm in a super exclusive, very secret fight club.

My father clicks his fingers and they let me go.

"Call your mother this morning or they'll be back."

My morning hasn't even started and it has already been ruined. I lie there in pain hating my life. He'll never find out where I was. The account I used to book the ride isn't even mine. The chef comes and helps me up, he makes breakfast and loads me up on painkillers.
