It's been days since Grandpa departed from my home, and his absence was heavily felt at the villa.

I noticed it most in the mornings. The way the corridor no longer carried his slow, deliberate footsteps. The way the staff relaxed, the way Elena moved freely again, reclaiming spaces that had felt temporarily staged.

Five days passed. Then six.
