Winona Quinton frowned at the divorce papers in my hand. She seized them and threw them straight at my face.

“What do you think you’re doing?” she snapped. “I was just covering for him. You humiliated him in public, and it reflects on me too. How am I supposed to show my face in the industry after this?”

I stared at her in disappointment. “Marry him, then. I’ll step aside so you can spend your life covering for him.”

Winona rolled her eyes. “You’re only great at being jealous. How many times must I repeat myself? Nothing’s going on between us!”

I took a deep breath. “Winona, there’s no point explaining yourself any further. He’s just an incompetent intern, yet you insisted on hiring him despite my objections. On my birthday, you posted photos of a candlelight dinner with him on social media, and at every gala, he’s always your date. I’ve had enough. Let’s get a divorce.”

Winona froze momentarily before she turned and told Corey Marsh to leave.

Corey teared up. “Winona, I—”

Before he could finish, Winona cut him off sharply. “Get out!”

Corey finally left, albeit reluctantly.

After closing the door, Winona lifted her dress slightly, sat on my lap, and wrapped her arms around me.

“Honey, don’t be jealous. Since you’ve made it clear to me that you don’t like any of those things, I’ll do as you say. I’ll cut contact with him and make it up to you for your birthday. From now on, you’ll be my only date at events, all right? Honey, you have to believe me. My heart is yours.”

I pushed her off me and said curtly, “I don’t need it.”

“But—”

“I said I don’t need it. What part of that is unclear?”

I stood up and met her gaze. “Ever since he came into the picture, things between us have only gone downhill. Have you ever stood on my side?”

Winona rushed to explain herself. “There’s really nothing between us. It’s you who can’t stop doubting…”

I flung the divorce papers at her face. “Fine, let’s get divorced. I’ll have zero reasons left for any doubts.”

Winona stiffened, puzzled as to why I had escalated things this far.

Cameras swarmed us as the media demanded answers about our relationship.Corey explained, “I’m just Miss Quinton’s assistant. As for the rumors, it was all part of her plan to win Mr. Strathmore back, and she asked me to help her with it.”Then, amid the reporters’ confusion, Corey produced his so-called evidence: an audio recording.“Corey, after the shoot, keep your distance from me. I don’t want Jared to misunderstand.“Don’t cross the line, Corey. Just stir Jared up a little. That’s enough.“Remember, you’re just my assistant. Don’t get any ideas.”A wave of realization swept through the reporters.“So this was all Miss Quinton’s way of getting Mr. Strathmore’s attention. It had been her strategy to win him back.”“A wealthy heiress going all out to win her husband back? This is pure drama. I’m so invested!”“It looks like Miss Quinton really does care about Mr. Strathmore. She’s been pulling little stunts in private.”Seeing their reaction, Corey smiled at me. “Mr. Strat

In the photo, the two of us were looking into each other’s eyes, smiling brightly.“What’s wrong with soaking in a hot spring? We’re just friends.”Winona forced down her anger.“You know perfectly well whether you’re really ‘just friends.’ What kind of friends do something that intimate?”After saying that, she fell silent, as if recalling something.I chuckled softly. “So you do know it’s inappropriate, Miss Quinton. If you can take intimate photos with your assistant, why can’t I?”Winona stared at the photo of herself and Corey on her phone, her eyes stinging with unshed tears.Regret welled up within her. She used to think that as long as nothing physical happened, it didn’t count as cheating. But it finally dawned on her that allowing Corey to stay the night, even if nothing happened beyond a few lingering marks, had already crossed the line.Looking at the photo of Jared and Yvonne, she finally understood why he had reacted so strongly back then, even though what she had

After Corey left, Winona swept everything off her desk, sending the items crashing to the floor.‘Jared, since you insist on believing that I cheated on you with Corey, I’ll make it real. As you wish!’ she thought.Several reports across major media suggested that Winona and her assistant were on the verge of becoming a couple. She brought him to multiple business galas and openly declared him her only date, leaving many people curious about my whereabouts.Meanwhile, details about me were leaked online.[I heard that Jared Strathmore betrayed Miss Quinton and poached a large number of her core staff.][During the company’s hardest days, Mr. Marsh stayed by her side throughout. That’s true loyalty.][I support Miss Quinton and Mr. Marsh being together. This is true love forged through hardship.]Rumors flooded the internet, and I did not need to guess who was orchestrating them. When every company began returning all our products, I realized that those rumors were already stra

Winona looked at me, her gaze filled with lingering attachment.Ever since that day we parted, she had waited outside my apartment building every night without fail. She sent endless luxury gifts, along with fresh flowers and jewelry, each one different. My colleagues said that she rarely showed up at the company anymore. Instead, she spent all her time finding ways to meet me and beg for forgiveness.I never took any of her gestures seriously. To me, Winona was simply indulging her own sentimentality. One day, I received a message from my friend saying Winona had fired Corey. He was seen crying in the office and begging for her forgiveness, only to be scolded and kicked out repeatedly. On top of that, Winona had issued a company-wide order banning Corey from entering the premises.I even heard that she murmured my name in her sleep. Her father came to plead for her, insisting that his daughter could not have cheated. “Jared,” he said. “For my sake, please forgive Winona. She

My phone screen displayed an email from the company’s second-largest shareholder. It listed evidence of Corey’s misuse of power for personal gain, along with resignation letters from all department managers and technical staff.I explained, “People have been asking me for a long time whether I plan to go independent. They all have been wanting to follow me. Winona has been blinded by Corey’s sweet talk, and the shareholders have already had enough.”My close friend stared at me with admiration. “I knew it. You secured all those sponsors. Winona never deserved that CEO position. This time, she could try rebuilding from the ground up with Corey by her side.”Meanwhile, the company was in complete chaos.Winona stared at the thick stack of resignation letters in front of her. Confusion was written all over her face. “What is this? If you have any concerns, you can speak up. Be it salaries or vacation days, we can work it out.”A major shareholder stepped forward, looking troubled.

Winona stared at me in disbelief. “How is that possible? You’re my husband.”I smirked mockingly. “I already said I wanted a divorce. Sign the divorce papers immediately. After that, do whatever you like. You can even marry him if that is your wish.”Winona stood still, studying me as if she no longer recognized me. “Are you really going to keep this up?”Seeing my cold, detached expression, she let out a few derisive laughs before turning and leaving without another word. The next day, my close friend knocked on my door.“Jared, something’s happened!”He pulled out his phone and showed me Winona’s social feed.In the photo, she was nestled in Corey’s embrace as countless people around them cheered and celebrated their relationship. The caption read. [You will always be my unwavering choice.]My close friend looked at me and teared up. “This post is blowing up across the company. What is Winona trying to do?”A self-deprecating smile crossed my face.I knew she was trying to
