Denise can't say I do

[ Denise's POV ]

It took me some seconds to return back to myself, and I took my hand from Jake.

"What the heck are you saying Jake?" I asked him. He tried holding my hand again, but I shot him a deadly glare, and he withdrew from holding my hand.

"Denise, you don't have to get married to Mavis because you want him to pay for your sister's treatment. $600, 000 is a lot, but I am going to find a way to come up with the money, "he said.

"And you expect me to say thank you and call off the wedding?"

"Your sister is the reason you are getting married to Mavis, right?" Jake asked.

"I don't know how you got to find out, but I don't need your help" I said to him.

I didn't want my mom to come to the room and see me and Jake talking, I don't know what lie to tell her if she sees us together.
