ELOWEN

The atmosphere in the room became tense. All gazes shifted between me and Adrian, the man who had crushed my soul and walked over my dignity, now appearing serious, and filled with barely contained anger, as if I still belonged to him.

“Wife, you say?” The corner of my lips curled into a sarcastic smirk. “That’s rich.”

He paused, his burning gaze fell on me, frowning.

My head tilted slightly as my smirk deepened, “Since when did you remember you had one?” Each word drips with mockery.

Hushed murmurs spread through the gathered crowd, collecting the juicy drama; their shock was very obvious.

Adrian’s jaw clenched, sharpness flickered across his gaze, locking on mine with a heat that wasn’t entirely fury. It was something else… It was an insult to his posh dignity, something he never had before.

“Elowen,” his voice was a low growl. “This is enough, we’ll talk outside.”

Oh! Warning in the air! Funny, as if it's gonna work.

I arched my brow. “Oh! How surprising? You're willing to ruin your date night with your sweetheart?” My words fell like iced water on his face. “Come on, Adrian, your sweetheart will be very upset.”

The crowd gasped aloud; no one had ever imagined Adrian Hale would be insulted in such a manner in public.

Even Richard, who was still clutching his bleeding head, gave a bitter laugh.

“That’s why one shouldn't give so much freedom to their wives. Seems the loyal wife finally grew her little claws,” Richard spat, his words trembling with humiliation.

“No wonder Adrian—” He didn’t finish, and Adrian’s fist abruptly landed squarely against his jaw with a bone-cracking thud.

Gasps tore through the room as Richard fell flat on his face.

“Keep your mouth shut, you dog shit.” Adrian hollered.

As tension thundered within the hall, I, on the other hand, remained very calm. Adrian Hale was seemingly protecting me here, but—in reality, he was not. He was just boiling due to his own crushed dignity.

His burning gaze snapped at me, his chest heaving, his tie hanging loose, his eyes locked on mine with a rawness I hadn’t seen in years… “You. Outside. Now.” He gritted his teeth, commanding me like a king.

Well, a pathetic, puny king.

I didn’t flinch, nor did I move. I only chuckled as though he had made a joke. “You don’t get to order me, Adrian Hale. Not anymore. Remember? I resigned this morning.”

The way his name rolled off my tongue —the deliberate mockery, his face twisted with fury. His nostrils flared, his fists tightened, “You’re still my wife. Now, out Elowen.” His grumbling voice sliced through the hush of the VIP lounge.

Although my heart throbbed, a bitter sneer plastered against my lips at his mention. “Oh, I forgot to inform you, Mr. Hale, we're already divorced.”

I dropped the bomb I carried the entire day like a thorn in my chest, and it felt too good to be true.

And once again, dead silence embraced the entire lounge.

Adrian’s face dropped. His eyes widened in shock, “Wha-t did you just say?” His voice shook with disbelief.

My lips only curled coldly, “You heard it correctly, Mr. Hale. We're already divorced, and—you've signed the papers yourself.”

“Impossible!” His whisper echoed in the quietness. “Stop kidding!”

“Kidding? Oh, I don’t play games like you, Hale.”

“Stop fooling around!” He spat. “I never signed any divorce agreement!”

“You sure?” I raised a brow, “Remember those papers in the morning?—When you were busy coaxing your sweetheart?” I gave him a knowing smirk.

“You’re out of your damn mind!” He shot up, fury blazing as the realisation coiled within his fat brain.

He grabbed my arm, and pain immediately hissed through my veins. “Do you even know what you’re saying?!”

“Yes,” I hissed, yanking my arm free from his clutch. “I’m finally done playing your shadow wife. And besides, isn't it better now? You can just make your sweetheart your wife.”

“You've lost your mind! And I know how to keep it on track!” And suddenly, he grabbed my arm again, almost throwing me against the wall as he tried to pin me, and that's it—my patience broke.

My hand raised and landed on his cheek, resonating the sound in the lounge.

People flinched, and shocking gasps rippled through the onlookers.

And Adrian? He stood as though he had been naked before the public. He stared at me in a daze.

I didn’t care though, I only turned around, ready to leave, when—

“You think walking away makes you strong?” His cold tone rang behind, pausing me. “You’ve built your life with me only...”

I turned around, only to meet his cruellest look. Slowly he walked toward me, “You have been known as Mrs Hale only. No one even knows your true name. Once you're stripped out of my title, do you think the world will appreciate you?” His rips raised, “They will never do so. You will only be known as Adrian Hale's divorced wife. It will take you only a few days to realise how your world has crumbled, and then—” he leaned toward my ear, “—you will only have one option, crawl back to me and kiss my feet. You're nothing without me.”

My breath heaved, my eyes burned in rage and humiliation. Yet, the corner of my lips twitched, “Really, shall see.” I muttered, and my hand touched his shoulders softly. “And before that—” I raised my right knee in the blink of an eye, my knee connected to his groin with a definite crack.

Air knocked out of him, as he staggered back, falling on the floor.

“And this is the first gift of our divorce night, Adrian Hale, as well as a warning. Never dare to cross my path ever again.”

Then, I spun on my heels and stormed out of the cursed place. My heart pounding, knees trembling—but not with fear, with the taste of freedom and newly found self respect...

I was unaware of my destination until the sounds of the club diminished, and I found myself on the open terrace. The night air was cold, yet it had a satisfaction in it.

Standing there, I let out a shaky breath, staring at the city lights below as if I were seeing them for the first time…

“The hit was harder than I expected. Didn't realise that Hale's woman would have such guts.”—A sudden word came from behind. Deep, low and smooth as the ocean, wrapped in a dark amusement.

Startled, and slightly annoyed, I turned around to hoosh him off, but—the moment my eyes caught those golden-green eyes, I froze…

Alexander Veyrek—the man whom everyone feared and wanted to be with, standing right before me...

ELOWENHis presence filled the room as if the air itself had thickened around him.The mirror fogged slightly where my breath hit it, but his reflection was sharp— too sharp, standing just behind me, near the door I had assumed would lead only to safety. His face was harder than I remembered, all edges and restraint, his jaw set in a way that spoke of control stretched to its breaking point. His eyes were darker now, stripped of warmth, unreadable in a way that made something in my chest ache violently. The suit he wore was immaculate, tailored to perfection, expensive in a way that announced power without apology. But beneath that polish was something fractured, something tightly leashed and dangerous, like a storm held back by sheer force of will…For a moment, neither of us moved. My fingers curled around the edge of the marble sink as my chest burned, breath coming too fast, too shallow… I forced myself to inhale slowly, deliberately, refusing to let him see how badly he had sha

ELOWENThe restaurant came into view as the car slowed, its warm golden lights spilling softly onto the cobblestone street like an invitation meant only for those who belonged there. It was one of Italy’s classics, old money and older influence carved into marble columns and tall arched windows. The kind of place where history and power dined together without needing to announce themselves. I had heard of it long before today. Everyone had. It was owned by the Rizzo family.Rich. Politically entrenched. Untouchable. No wonder my grandmother wanted this alliance. The driver opened the door, and the cool evening air brushed against my skin as I stepped out. My heels clicked softly against the stone as we entered, the weight of expectation settling heavier with each step forward. The interior was elegant without being ostentatious, muted colors, polished wood, chandeliers that glowed instead of dazzled. This was not a place for new money. It was a place for people who had never questio

ELOWENI stood in front of the mirror for a long time, long enough that my reflection stopped feeling like me and started looking like someone I was responsible for keeping alive…A week— a whole week had passed since I returned to Italy, and I assumed time would do its work. I believed distance would heal. I believed routine would soften wounds. I believed I would recover. But— I was wrong.Time had not eased anything. It had only stripped away the noise, leaving me alone with what remained. Every morning I woke up with the same heaviness pressing against my ribs, as though my body remembered before my mind did… The man I loved had not merely hurt me. He had dismantled something fundamental, something fragile I had given without knowing it was being measured, weighed, and assessed for usefulness.I touched the glass lightly, tracing the faint shadows beneath my eyes. I looked fine. That was the problem. My hair was brushed, my face composed, my posture intact. No one could see the

ALEXANDER I have always trusted my brain more than my heart… In fact, I never tried to see within my heart until she arrived…My head knows how to arrange chaos into something survivable. It takes moments, strips them down, assigns weight, places them in order, and then seals them away. It has kept me alive longer than morality ever could. Even now, sitting alone in the room, I feel it trying to do what it has always done best: organize, justify, and compartmentalize.I told myself I did not lie after I fell for her… I protected her when it counted, I stepped between her and danger without hesitation. I stayed when I could have walked away clean and unscarred…I let those thoughts line up like witnesses waiting to testify on my behalf, each one ready to prove that I am not the man she thinks I am now.I closed my eyes and replayed the evidence the way I always do… I see my hand gripping her arm when the street erupted into chaos, feel the force of pulling her back against my chest as

ALEXANDERThe door didn’t slam…That was what stayed with me.It closed gently, almost courteously, as though it had not just profoundly altered my life. It swung once, twice, then settled into its frame with a soft click that resonated far more deeply than any outcry ever could. And I— I stood there, like an idiot, unmoving… The air still held her... Her warmth. Her scent. The faint trace of her breath, as if she had only just stepped away and might return if I waited long enough. The void she created was unsettling, a palpable emptiness, as if the room itself had been stripped bare and remained purely by inertia. For a moment— just one moment, I told myself this wasn’t real. That she would come back. That she would pause in the corridor, turn around, realize she hadn’t meant it, hadn’t truly meant any of it and return right in my arms, where she truly belongs.Elowen had always felt deeply. She reacted fiercely. She hurt loudly. She didn’t leave… Except she had.The realization sl

  • I Married A Billionaire, Who Wanted Revenge!!!   111. Her leaving...

ELOWENI watched his face change. That was the first thing I noticed. It was shock at first, and then, slowly hesitation creeped in. A fraction of a second where his breath stalled, where his eyes flickered away from mine before he caught himself. A moment so small it would have been invisible to anyone who didn’t already feel like the ground beneath her had started to crack. And that hesitation somehow did more damage than any lie could have…The silence stretched between us, thick and suffocating, pressing against my ears until my heart began to pound painfully against my ribs. I hadn’t meant to ask it like that. I hadn’t planned the words. They had crawled out of me raw and trembling, dragged to the surface by Cassian’s voice echoing in my head like a curse…Why did you get close to me?I searched Alexander’s face desperately now, looking for the man I thought I knew. The man who had held my hand when I woke up from nightmares. The man who had kissed my forehead and promised I w
