It was only a few inches away. My fist was only a few inches away from meeting Dante's face when something clicked.

It was a trance. I was sure about that, or rather I was hallucinating, and it was funny because I had been sober for days, I hadn't even had a beer, so the hallucination must've been caused by the coffee. There was no other explanation. It was either that the coffee had been drugged, or that it had way too much caffeine, the type that could seep into your skin and find it's way into your bloodstream, and flow up to the heart, where it will move to the brain through the aorta and cause mental destruction.

That must've been the case.

Because there was no other way to explain the fact that just as I was about to hit him out of anger, just as my rage had gotten the best of me, what I saw before me was no longer the rude young man who had poured coffee on my limited edition suit, nor the one who had walked out on me earlier, but right before me, I saw him. Him.

Hakim's POV“ Mr Davids. Your client is guilty, and it will only save you from trouble if you plead guilty in court and get it over with”, I said to Dante, sounding very angry and pissed off, but he didn't really get the picture. “ Well, that will be for I and my team to decide”, he said and immediately stood up to his feet. “ Dante, Dante, come back here right now!” I almost screamed but he continued walking, like, actually walking out on me. I inhaled deeply and exhaled, trying to calm myself down. Dante was stubborn, I knew he was. He was the type to do exactly that thing you didn't want him to do, the type to do that thing that is obviously dangerous, and I don't know what gives him the strength in that little body of his, but he isn't afraid of the consequences, and most of the times, the consequences are grave, just like when he had that outburst back in highschool. That was clear stubbornness, and he had suffered the consequences of not knowing when to shut up, or rat

There was a stupid smirk on the guard's face, one that wished so hard that I can slap off. Mr Wade looked at me and I knew without doubt that he was scared of going back to his cell. His eyes spelt it. Even though the guards will find it hard to make out what were saying from the CCTV camera, they would still know that he was divulging information which he ought not to do, and only heavens could tell what they would do to him behind closed doors. I nodded at him, telling him with my eyes that everything was going to be okay, that everything was going to be fine, and that I would do my best to get him out of there. “ Come on now”, the guard said to him and he went out of the room immediately. As I stepped out of the room, I wanted to snarl at the guard, but decided against it. He wasn't the one that I was fighting against, it was the senator and his monster nephew. “ Did you get any new info from him?” Mr Churchill asked immediately I walked out of the detention center bui

The principle of interrogation was one of the topics we treated back in school when we were offering the criminal law course. And this principle supports or rather, quotes the fact that holding a person or a suspect responsible before even asking whether or not they committed the said crime would likely make the suspect to out themselves, and that was what I did right there with Mr Wade. I never really liked the idea behind the principle, I mean, as a normal human being you have to ask before reaching conclusions, but I threw that ideology of mine out the window and went with what I was taught in school, and I glared at him as I asked the question. “ Why didn't you?” I asked again, lowering my voice so that the camera wouldn't catch what it is that we were discussing. “ I…….I…. told him, okay?” He said, sounding scared. “ You told who what?” I thundered, seeking proper answers from him. “ Josh. I told him that she was still alive. I begged him to take her to the hospital

“ Who's there?” The old man asked, stopping on his tracks, “ I said who the hell is there?” He asked again, raising his voice. “ It's me sir”, I said, looking sideways to the right and realizing that Mr Churchill and Francis were not seen, that I was the only one who was seen. “ And who are you?” The old man asked as he kept approaching, and in order to not let him see Mr Churchill and Francis, I moved up and caught up with him first. “ Don't you remember me sir? I was part of the people who came here yesterday to get the autopsy results of late Miss Edwina”, I said, cooing up to the man's side, “ you do remember me, right?” He stared into my face and heaved. “ Oh, it's you”, he said, and I couldn't tell if he actually recognized me or if he just pretended to recognize me so as not to easily give away the fact that his eye sights were dying. “ And what have you come here looking for?” He tried to continue walking, but I stood right in front of him, blocking him. “ Do

“ To be really sincere with you, mehn, I don't know”, I said, raising my hands up in defiance as if to surrender. Mr Churchill heaved out heavily, equally frustrated. “ You don't suppose we dispose of her, do you?” He asked and I looked at him as if he had shit smeared on his lips. “ What? No, of course not. In fact, you know what? Let's take her back to the forensics department”, I prompted. “ To the what? That's like going back into a tiger's den after escaping the first time, and trust me, people aren't always lucky when doing things for the second time”, he retorted. “ Well, we do not have any other choice, do we? We have to take her back there, one way or the other”. “ I reckon we do away with her. It's just a body, any morgue will do”. “ Don't you say that”, I reprimanded him. “ I know why I'm saying this. We can't take her back to the forensics department. It will be a suicide mission”, Mr Churchill defended himself. “ I'm sure that if I had told you about
