We sat at the coffee shop just outside the firm's building, feeling awkwardly uncomfortable. Even though the sun was already in the centre of the sky, we had both ordered coffee. He ordered a black coffee, while I went for a creamy latte, and within a few seconds, our orders were staring right back at us in the face, but neither one of us spoke nor made an attempt to drink the coffee.

“ Long time no see”, he said after what seemed like eternity.

“ Yeah, long time no see”, I said, fidgeting.

“ Um…………. How have you been?”, he asked, taking a sip of his cup of coffee.

I nodded, “ I have been doing well, like, moderately well. How about you?” I took my own sip, and even though it burned my tongue, I didn't flinch, “ how have you been doing?”

“ Well, I could liken my situation to yours. I have been doing well”, he tilted his head and looked me straight in the eye, and I looked away on impulse, feeling uncomfortable to meet his eyes.

I had betrayed those eyes. Not only t

So, is Hakim in love with Dante, or is he trying to make up for how he treated him in school by throwing someone else towards him? Or maybe Hakim had a relationship with Cole? Ugh... I'm confused, my dear author.

“ The senator?” I asked, perplexed. He nodded. “ Wait, wait, I don't get it, how the hell is senator Hillary related to any of this?” He exhaled deeply, looking around as if anyone was eavesdropping on us. “ Did he kill the girl?” I asked, becoming impatient at this point. “ No, he didn't”. “ Then how is he related to it? How is he the perpetrator?” “ His nephew killed the girl, and just so that he can get his nephew off the hook, he tampered with the evidence so that he could frame me”, he said, almost whispering. I was still very much confused, and couldn't get the clear picture of what he was actually trying to talk about. “ Mr Wade, to be sincere, I do not actually comprehend the picture you're trying to draw here, but I want to make sure of something; are you certain of what you're saying?” I asked, intuitively lowering my voice too. “ Look, the senator has eyes and ears everywhere. The guards, the detectives handling the case, probably, even the judge t

Hakim stared at both of us for what seemed like thirty seconds, up until the elevator doors started closing back on it's own. He obstructed the door from shutting again, before walking in like some hulk wearing a diaper. “ Good morning Mr Mali”, Cole said as the elevator started moving up, and I felt like slapping him on the mouth. Like, why would he greet such an asshole? Hakim just nodded a little, reacting so lightly to his greeting. I and Cole got off on the thirty-fifth floor while Hakim proceeded to the floor above us. “ Call the others. We have a meeting right now”, I said to Cole as we walked on the hallway. “ A meeting?” “ Yeah. I almost forgot about it. We need to discuss the homicide case we have, and besides, trial is quite close”, I said as I walked into my office. I got some stuff ready and started walking to the meeting room, and by the time I got there, everyone was already seated. “ Okay. Good morning everyone”, I said, taking a seat. “ Good morn

“ Coming to pick you up”, Cole sent me a message the following morning as I was getting ready for work. We had spent some time talking about random things the night before. I introduced him to Sasha and he left after a while. It had been ages since he sent me a message, and I still didn't know how he got my new contact. “ Okay. Call me when you get here”, I texted back, going on to clean my face with a wiper. I applied moisturizer on my face, taking a look at the mirror and instantly feeling down. A pimple was sticking itself out of my skin, screaming loudly from my cheek. Even though I felt every urge to pop it, I controlled myself not to because I knew that popping it will leave a black spot when it heals. I draped on a vintage shirt and black pants, and then took my briefcase out, making a stop at the kitchen to breakfast together for myself. “ Good morning”, I said to Sasha as she walked out of her room and stood at the sitting room, facing the kitchen. “ Good mo

Dante's POV “ No, you didn't”, I blurted out to Sasha who was standing at the door way, clutching on to her bag. I heaved out loud, totally irritated by how the situation had gone completely out of control. But then, to look on the bright side, it was better that Hakim had interrupted Cole and I, if not, Sasha would've walked in on two naked dudes pounding in on each other. I was still on my tight briefs, and so I rushed to my pants which had been flung across the room and tried to immediately put it on. “ So who sent these cute young men over?”, Sasha said as I hurried up with wearing my pants. The pants had been so easy to take off, but putting them on now was almost impossible. “ Please tell me you guys are straight, or at least Bi”, she said, shutting the door behind her. “ Sasha!” I called out, still struggling with the pants. “ What?” She was obviously acting mischievous. Cole also started putting on his pants. “ Wait, Hakim?” She asked, coming closer toward

Dante tried to block me from walking in, but I guess that even he was obviously working out, he still couldn't compare to my strength. Or he was just taken unaware. I walked right into his apartment, pushing the door with him behind it, and when I got in, the first thing I took notice of was a young man standing naked in the centre of the living room, having nothing but his briefs on. I knew those two were up to something, but I could've never imagined that they had invited a third party. I looked right back at Dante who was still meshed between the door and the wall like butter in-between two slices of bread. “ What the hell is going on here?” I asked, surprised at how angry I sounded. “ I should be the one asking that question”, he said, freeing himself from the door and the wall, “ what the hell do you think you're doing? How dare you come to my house without any warning and walk in without me inviting you to do so?” He asked, coming closer, fuming with anger. I looked a

  • I Never Hated You     Chapter Thirty-eight

Hakim's POV I saw Dante getting into Cole's car, and that particular scenario was enough to change my mood. I had gone to the control room to ask the tech personnel to delete the footage of senator Hillary coming into the building. The senator didn't want news to get out about the fact that he had visited my law firm, and so he came disguised. Deleting the footage of him in his disguise was part of the precautions I had to take. While instructing the tech personnel and making sure that he deleted the footage, I spotted Dante and Cole on one of the many screens in the control room. It was his red shirt that gave him out. It was what he wore when he came into my office in the morning, with a loose button on the top, exposing so little of his chest, that hairless chest that I longed so much to see. His reply to me in the morning made it obvious to me that he wanted Cole to stay, much to my disappointment. I was so ready to write up a full sheet of sack letter filled with
