We sat at the coffee shop just outside the firm's building, feeling awkwardly uncomfortable. Even though the sun was already in the centre of the sky, we had both ordered coffee. He ordered a black coffee, while I went for a creamy latte, and within a few seconds, our orders were staring right back at us in the face, but neither one of us spoke nor made an attempt to drink the coffee.

“ Long time no see”, he said after what seemed like eternity.

“ Yeah, long time no see”, I said, fidgeting.

“ Um…………. How have you been?”, he asked, taking a sip of his cup of coffee.

I nodded, “ I have been doing well, like, moderately well. How about you?” I took my own sip, and even though it burned my tongue, I didn't flinch, “ how have you been doing?”

“ Well, I could liken my situation to yours. I have been doing well”, he tilted his head and looked me straight in the eye, and I looked away on impulse, feeling uncomfortable to meet his eyes.

I had betrayed those eyes. Not only t

So, is Hakim in love with Dante, or is he trying to make up for how he treated him in school by throwing someone else towards him? Or maybe Hakim had a relationship with Cole? Ugh... I'm confused, my dear author.

Cole. That was his name. The boy that had almost made me believe in love. I met Cole at Harvard. He was the first person I met during the fresher's orientation. I was totally lost that day and had to ask about where the school auditorium was, but everyone wore a long face, and I just didn't feel like throwing my question at them for fear of being snubbed or snarled. “ It seems like you're lost or something?” Someone said behind me while I was just standing in the moving crowd and I turned around and met them, those hazel eyes, I met them for the first time. “ Yeah, I really am. Thank you for asking”, I said, a smile stretching across my lips, “ I have to find the school auditorium”. “ Oh, you're a fresher in law school?” He asked, leading me to the west wing of the school premises. “ How did you know?” “ Well, they're the ones having their orientation there today”. “ Oh, I guess that was pretty obvious. How about you?” “ Me?” “ Yes. Are you also a fresher and a l

“ Good morning Mr Mali”, I said to Hakim as I walked into his office. Seeing him these days didn't trigger my emotions as it did during the first few days of realizing that he was my boss, and coupled with the fact that I was in a situationship with Basil, I couldn't care less about him. “ I was told that you asked to see me”, I didn't know why, but I avoided his eyes, I avoided looking into them, and instead, I just stared at his face, from his lips to his forehead, to his nose, to his ears, anywhere apart from those green eyes. “ Yes, Dante. Take a seat”, he said and I sat on the armchair opposite to his. “ I have taken into account of the fact that you've made massive progress this past month and improved the office of the criminal department here in our firm. I want to thank you for that and then inform you of a new development”, he spoke eloquently, firmly, formally in fact, unlike the Hakim that I had encountered the other night during the firm's dinner night out. I had

The best defense is always a good offense. That what what I learnt from the lectures of criminal law, and I was putting it into practice, completely taking the plaintiff unawares. “ Defendant. Is your question to the young man really relevant to this case?” The judge asked. “ Yes, your honour, it is very much relevant to this case and we are about to find out”, I said, turning to the judge and turning back to the young man. “ Mr Peter Crown, I ask again. Where were you, and what were you doing between the hours of 11: 00 am to 1:00 pm on the 14th of May?” He still kept quiet as tension grew inside the court room. Even though it was airy and the weather was cool, I saw lines of sweat falling off his face and falling on his shirt. “ Your honour, Mr Peter Crown is terrified as it stands and the defendant is clearly in contempt, and isn't really bothered about the mental health of the young man before him”, Mr Crown’s lawyer said. “ Plaintiff, allow the defendant”, the jud

“ Defendant, you may state your case”, the judge, a homey looking woman who seemed to be in her fifties, said. “ Thank you your honour”, I said, standing up to my feet and stepping out of my desk to face the whole court. The plaintiff had stated their own case, still dwelling on the fact that my client was guilty, and as anticipated, presented the video tape showing how and when he took the stolen item. “ Your honour”, I began, “ even though the plaintiff has presented a vivid piece of evidence to support the claim that my client, Mr John Doe, committed the crime of robbery, I still stand here to avert that claim”, I heard people gasp, “ my client is innocent of any accusations labelled against him so far”. The court wasn't filled with people, just a few, but the voices of that few rose to the ceiling as they murmured. The plaintiff's lawyer too was murmuring with Mr Crown, and I could've bet my ass that they were considering the fact that I was mentally deranged or someth

I used to abhor Korean movies so much. Together with Indian movies. There was just too much drama, and the drama was always tacky and cringe. I mean, how possible is it that you're about to fall, and then out of nowhere, this handsome prince charming comes along and saves you, and you guys spend eternity staring into each other's eyes and breathing each other's breathe? I could never believe that such situation was possible. Also with the fact that their hair always floated in the air, together with the fact that they always fell in slow motion. Like, who the hell falls down in slow motion and dares to go against the laws of gravity and acceleration? But not until that incident, not until Basil turned into a prince charming, a knight in shining armor, and saved me from the impending catastrophe. It was so unreal, so tacky, so cringe. We stared into each other's eyes, lost in infinity, in a timeless timeline. The wind didn't even help matters. A soft breeze began to blow,
