We sat at the coffee shop just outside the firm's building, feeling awkwardly uncomfortable. Even though the sun was already in the centre of the sky, we had both ordered coffee. He ordered a black coffee, while I went for a creamy latte, and within a few seconds, our orders were staring right back at us in the face, but neither one of us spoke nor made an attempt to drink the coffee.

“ Long time no see”, he said after what seemed like eternity.

“ Yeah, long time no see”, I said, fidgeting.

“ Um…………. How have you been?”, he asked, taking a sip of his cup of coffee.

I nodded, “ I have been doing well, like, moderately well. How about you?” I took my own sip, and even though it burned my tongue, I didn't flinch, “ how have you been doing?”

“ Well, I could liken my situation to yours. I have been doing well”, he tilted his head and looked me straight in the eye, and I looked away on impulse, feeling uncomfortable to meet his eyes.

I had betrayed those eyes. Not only t

So, is Hakim in love with Dante, or is he trying to make up for how he treated him in school by throwing someone else towards him? Or maybe Hakim had a relationship with Cole? Ugh... I'm confused, my dear author.

“ To be really sincere with you, mehn, I don't know”, I said, raising my hands up in defiance as if to surrender. Mr Churchill heaved out heavily, equally frustrated. “ You don't suppose we dispose of her, do you?” He asked and I looked at him as if he had shit smeared on his lips. “ What? No, of course not. In fact, you know what? Let's take her back to the forensics department”, I prompted. “ To the what? That's like going back into a tiger's den after escaping the first time, and trust me, people aren't always lucky when doing things for the second time”, he retorted. “ Well, we do not have any other choice, do we? We have to take her back there, one way or the other”. “ I reckon we do away with her. It's just a body, any morgue will do”. “ Don't you say that”, I reprimanded him. “ I know why I'm saying this. We can't take her back to the forensics department. It will be a suicide mission”, Mr Churchill defended himself. “ I'm sure that if I had told you about

“ What? What the hell? Like, why?” I said, being pretty sure that my lower was almost reaching the ground. “ Why are you asking me? Was I the one who dumped her there?” Alex defended himself. “ And my client didn't even disclose such information to me”, I said, already fuming with anger towards Mr Wade. “ Wait, your client is the person who did this to her?” Alex asked, “ you're defending someone who did this?” “ No. Although he is the primary suspect, he wasn't the one who got her killed. At least he wasn't the mastermind. He was framed, or so he says”, I replied, unconsciously defending Mr Wade. “ Okay. That's by the way. The issue now is how you are going to get her body out of here, because trust me, this body isn't going to sleep here for another night”, he said. I ran both my hands through my face and vigorously scratched my head. “ Don't tell me you don't have a plan on how to do that?” Alex said, a smug look on his face. “ I don't. I really don't”, I said, s

“ What I mean is that the principal cause of her death could not have been caused by a human”, Alex said, still allowing me to wallow in an ocean of confusion. What principal cause of death are we even talking about here? Dr Vicky must have noticed my confusion because she chipped in immediately, saying, “ Allow me to explain”. “ Okay”, I nodded, getting my ears ready to hear what she had to say. “ I will first of all go over the details of the results of the autopsy before finalizing with what we think and what the test shows is the principal cause of death. Is that okay with you?” She asked and when I nodded, she continued, “ okay, so if you take a look at her, you can see that her face seems a little bit deformed, like someone who had been heavily slapped or punched multiple times on the face”, she pointed towards the dead girl's face, and a certain chill fell over me. Maybe I had not considered her (Edwina, the dead girl) a human being all these while. I mean, I knew s

“ Forgive me for trespassing, it's just that you looked stressed”, Cole said, his arms still wrapped around me, his body moving a little bit to and fro as if he was dancing to a song. “ Apology accepted”, I said, smiling tiredly and resting my head on his shoulders. I miss it, resting my head on his shoulders and just listening to his heart beat. He had a different heart from what most people had; at least that was what I thought. The human heart was supposed to beat for about sixty-something a minute. I can't actually remember how many times exactly, but I was sure that it was more than sixty times. His heart was beating only fifty-nine in a minute, which to me, was abnormal. I had even teased him for having a weak heart due to that. But I really loved listening to it, hearing it beat slowly and majestically. He pulled us apart and inspected my face, probably trying to figure out what was actually wrong with me. “ You sure you're okay?” He asked, his eyes filled with concern

“ Gentlemen, we have our culprit”, I said, peering into everyone's eyes in a sort of dramatic way. “ Without a doubt”, Francis echoed in, as if he hadn't concluded just yesterday that Mr Wade was guilty as charged. “ Finding out and knowing who the culprit is based on turnout of events and circumstances is one thing, and proving that that person is indeed the culprit is another”, Mr Churchill said. “ Shouldn't the autopsy result show the DNA of those who had raped and killed the victim?” Dominic asked, looking around as if seeking for morale. “ Yes, it should, but we most likely cannot use that in court, given the fact that the information was obtained through impervious means”, Mr Churchill answered the wide-eyed Dominic. “ We can't be so sure of that yet”, I said, “ if we report to the court that the state's forensic department had not provided the accurate autopsy result and that we had to use forceful means to get the autopsy result, we might avoid being filed for cont

Francis covered his mouth with his hand, giving me a “ I am so so sorry look” as I glared at him. “ Then what is it if it isn't kidnapping? “ Cole asked, seeming a little bit flustered, “ and why would you even do that? Of what use will the body of the dead girl be to us?” “ Look”, I turned to Cole, “ it isn't kidnapping, even if it was kidnapping, it was done for a good course”, I was also trying to convince myself of that. “ What good course? Every information that we can possibly need out of the autopsy has already been compiled and included in the case”, he retorted. “ Now that is where the problem lies. Do you really think that the autopsy results that were provided are viable? Go through it. Does it make any sense that no other finger prints were found on the girl's body apart from that of Mr Wade's, and even the cause of death does seem unreliable to me”, I picked up the autopsy report in my own file, “ it says here that the leading cause of death of Miss Edwina was
