“Kiss?” I was taken aback, shocked. “We're mates, right? A forehead kiss.” Chloe blinked at me, pushing me to do it… “Right. We're true mates.” I slowly leaned in, moving my lips closer to his forehead, and gently placed a kiss. It took me a second to pull away and step back. “See you later.” I rushed out of the room, my cheeks flushed, burning red. Three weeks passed by, and Chloe looked after him. During these weeks, I couldn't visit. Father was keeping me busy. Calix’s body was healed but he was still under treatment. As I showed up again, his gaze fixed on me, and I felt a tingling sensation stirring in my stomach. “You finally came back.” “Sorry. I couldn't…” "You seem to be hiding a lot of things," he said, his voice deep and low. I took a deep breath and sat down in the armchair across from him. "My father, Silas Sylvester, is the Alpha King of the Malvern Hills. My family rules the five packs. Tomorrow's my birthday, the pack is waiting for me to introduce my true mate." Slowly, I explained everything to him about the birthday banquet. He tilted his head, looking surprised. "The Alpha King's daughter. Why are you hiding me in a house in the woods? Shouldn't we inform my pack? My Alpha?” “There's a lot you don't remember. The packs are complicated. You never know what exactly happened before the attack. I'm keeping you safe. You don't know who's your enemy. Chloe is here to take care of your wounds. You'll have everything you need." Suddenly, my phone alarm started ringing. It was 12:00 AM, 6th December. My birthday. The room felt like it was spinning. The countdown was over. I was twenty. My hands were trembling so much I had to hide them. "Elara?" Chloe said softly. She came over. Put her arms around me. "It's okay. We have a plan. Everything will be fine." Her voice whispered against my ear. I couldn't talk. I just looked at the floor, feeling the weight of what I was supposed to do. Calix asked, "What's wrong?" Of course, he noticed my pale face. "If I don't show up with a mate, the Council might punish me. We must pass the bond test taken by the elders." “A bond test?” He narrowed his eyes. “I can't even feel my wolf. How are we supposed to pass the bond test?” “We'll figure something out before the test.” He nodded. No more questions. "We need to go.” My lips mumbled. “If I'm not in my bed when the sun comes up, Father will send guards to look for me." Chloe said, "I'll drop you off." She gave my hand a squeeze and went out the door to start the car. I stood up and put some painkillers and water on the table. "Take these if your wounds hurt much. I will come in the morning." As I turned to leave, Calix clutched my wrist, his hand was hot. He held me tight, and I let out a soft gasp, looking into his eyes. "How did we meet, Elara?" His questions were still not over. My heart was racing. I tried to sound calm. I had to lie again. "We met at the Spring Festival last year " I said, trying to sound sweet. "You were visiting from the north. When we saw each other we felt a connection. I found out you're my true mate, our wolves felt the connection. We loved each other in secret, Calix." He had no idea that we could only feel our true mates on our twenty birthdays. Without warning, he pulled me closer, his gaze looking at my lips a little longer before moving up to my eyes. Surprisingly, he put his head on my stomach and held me tight. “I don't want to be alone. I don't remember anyone.” The warmth of his breathing brushed my lips. He was a man without a past. I was the only one he had, yet I was using him. Chloe already informed a detective to inquire about Calix's past. We had to know. The cops were also investigating the case. Slowly, I entangled my fingers in his dark hair. "Sorry. I didn't want to leave you alone. But if I don't go, my father will punish me. I promise to come back tomorrow morning.” His hands stayed on my waist for a second before he dropped them. "I'll be waiting, Elara." My heart clenched with a strange feeling I didn't know. We drove back towards the MoonCedar Packhouse. “Something's off about him.” Words came out of my mouth. “What? He's a lost man.” Chloe said, rolling the steering wheel. “I just feel scared because we don't know anything about him.” “Relax. I'm sure he's good. He was acting like a lost puppy next to you. He trusts you.” A breath escaped my lips. “Maybe you're right.” After a long drive, Chloe dropped me off at the Packhouse and left. I went in through the side door where usually guards didn't stand. I sneaked to the main hall, moving quietly. Just when I stood beneath the grand chandelier, my heart dropped to my stomach. Father was standing by the fireplace, waiting for me. I could tell from the dark expression on his face, his eyes were cold. *Did he find out something?*IVANMy men finally traced Kael. He took over the SilverStorm Pack. My brother was plotting against the packs in Malvern Hills.“Kill him and bring me his head.” I ordered my most lethal rogue fighters. “The BloodFang pack needs to know that their Alpha is dead. Only after his death, I can become the Alpha.”Troy, Kael's beta, stepped forward. “One more thing…” He hesitated slightly. “Speak.”“Alpha Kael was seen close with Elara Sylvester, the daughter of the Alpha of MoonCedar Pack.”“Did he use her?” I twitched my brows.Troy sighed. “It seems more than that. He's way too protective of her.”“My brother is protective of a girl. Amusing. After you kill him, I want Elara Sylvester. Everything Kael desires… should be mine.”“When should we do it?”“Let him finish all the packs. After that, kill him. He's making things easier for me.”***ELARATwo weeks had passed since the night my heart was ripped out of my chest. As per my strict condition, my father and the High Council had offic
ELARAI swallowed, my hand trembling against the fabric of my dress. "Calix... what happened?" I whispered, my voice cracking against the silence. "Why are you looking at me like that?"His towering frame cast a long, dark shadow over me, but his posture wasn't protective anymore. It was completely detached. He looked down at me with a calm, flat expression that made my blood run cold."I want to end things between us," he said, devoid of warmth. My legs went numb. The ground beneath my feet felt like it was crumbling away into a dark abyss. A shock paralyzed my lungs, making it impossible to breathe. I stared at him, my mind rejecting the words I had just heard. After a long pause, I managed to force a sound out of my throat. "Why?" I choked out, my eyes burning as the first wave of panic hit my chest. "What happened? Last night... Last night you told me I was yours. You said nothing in this world could stop you from claiming me."Calix took a slow step forward, closing the space
ELARAI sat across from Chloe at her cluttered wooden desk, my fingers trembling so hard that the ceramic teacup I held rattled against its saucer."Chloe," I started, my voice barely louder than a whisper. I set the cup down before I could spill it. "Something happened last night.”“What?” She leaned forward.“Something shifted inside me. I’m feeling a wild surge... a volatile pressure moving beneath my skin. It feels alive, clawing its way through my veins. I think... I think it’s a wolf."Chloe froze. The medical journal she was flipping through slipped from her fingers, landing onto the desk with a loud thud. She stared at me, her eyes wide with shock and disbelief. "Elara... it can't be," Chloe mumbled, her voice shaking slightly as she shook her head. "You are a wolfless. A wolf doesn't just suddenly wake up out of nowhere after two decades of silence.""That's what I'm confused about the most.” I buried my face in my hands. The memory of the power pulsing through my soul made
CALIXI rolled over, my hand sweeping across the empty sheets where Elara had been lying only hours before. The sweet, intoxicating scent of her blood and skin still lingered in the fabric, but she was gone. My eyes scanned the dimly lit bedroom until they landed on a small, folded piece of paper resting on the wooden nightstand.I picked it up, unfolding the note to find her delicate handwriting. *Gone to meet Chloe. Will be back at night. Don't worry.*A sigh escaped my lips. I tossed the note aside and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. Standing up, I grabbed a clean black shirt from the chair and walked over to the tall, silver-rimmed mirror resting against the wall. As I pulled the fabric over my broad shoulders, I paused, my gaze fixing on the reflection. Right at the base of my neck, a dark-red marking stood out starkly against my skin. The mark Elara had stamped onto mine the moment I claimed her last night. My wolf went crazy inside me. He had never lost his sanity wi
ELARA With an aggressive force, Calix threw me in bed, coming on top of me in the push-up position. My muscles tensed up.He tightened his grip on my wrists, gripping my hands above my head, and his breathing brushing the cleavage of my chest.“You're going to mark me?” “We're mates, aren't we?” He whispered, his chest pressing against my breasts. “Calix…”“Shhhhhhh…. Keep quiet. I've been patient enough, little wolf.”For a second, he didn't look like the man who had amnesia. Instead, he was an exact replica of a devil. No, a predator. His chest was a map of hard muscle and old scars, glowing in the firelight. He looked like a beautiful, dangerous trap, and his eyes, dark and burning with hunger."There is no turning back after tonight," Calix said, his voice low, traveling straight down my spine. "You know what this means."His icy blue eyes had completely changed, darkened by a terrifying jealousy that made my blood run hot."Calix..." I whispered, my voice trembling as his mout
ELARAI was ready for the banquet.I had to be ready. The grand ballroom of the Sylvester mansion was a sea of glittering gold, crimson, and silver. Millions of glass crystals hung from the chandeliers, throwing dazzling light over the hundreds of guests who had gathered from every neighboring pack to celebrate my father’s fifty-fifth birthday. I stood at the top of the grand marble staircase, my fingers tightly gripping the cold railing. For the first time in twenty years, I wasn't hiding in a shapeless black cloak. I wore a breathtaking, midnight-blue silk dress before cascading down to the floor like a waterfall. As I began my slow descent down the stairs, a sudden silence rippled through the crowded ballroom. Heads turned. Whispers erupted like a wave. For the very first time in my existence, the MoonDawn Pack wasn't looking past me. They were looking at me. The wolfless outcast had stolen the attention of every single pack in the territory. As I reached the last step, a venomou
ELARAThe grand chandelier above felt less like a beacon of celebration and more like a spotlight on my upcoming execution. My father’s question was like a blade in the air, freezing the warmth out of the ballroom.“Where is your true mate, Elara?” His authoritative tone sent a shiver down my spine
ELARA Father moved closer, stirring a panic within me. "Where have you been, Elara?" His voice was strong and authoritative. I've always been scared of our interactions. He liked being the Alpha King more than my father. Though my knees were weak, I tried to keep my head up. "I was at Chloe's ap
ELARAI grasped, my eyes widened. “Are you crazy!?”Chloe signed. “Think...With a rogue, you'll always be on the edge that he might expose the truth to your father. But this man wouldn't even know we're lying. He'll believe your lies.”“So…I should make him my fake mate?”Chloe shook her head aggre
ELARAThe man was lying in the snow like a dead body. I moved closer, risking my life, and squatted down inches from his left arm. My heart started pounding as I leaned down and rested my ear against his chest. His heart was still beating. “He’s alive.” The words escaped my lips in a whisper.Witho
