I Prefer a Slow-Paced Romance

“Carol, have you lost your mind? Why would you spend so much money on the rights to the videos and photos of your husband together with another woman from the media? Kieran Abner is the one who can’t control his d*ck and brought trouble to himself! Why are you cleaning up his mess?

“Is that idiot blind or what? That woman’s chin is as sharp as a hammer’s. She can probably kill someone with it. Her double eyelids are also so fake I could tell it from a mile away. And she looks as ugly as a donkey! Why is he… Argh!” Myka Morales said indignantly on the phone.

But Carol Renae acted as if she did not hear her. She continued organizing the documents on her desk. Her expression did not change. It was as if the man Myka talked about had nothing to do with her.

When Myka finally stopped grumbling, Carol picked up her phone and said calmly, “Myka, I’ve already sent the money to your editor-in-chief. Please make sure the photos and videos don’t get leaked.”

“Screw you! We’re not friends anymore, Carol Renae!” Myka hung up after shouting that out.

Carol stared at her phone for a few seconds. She knew that Myka did not mean what she said. After all, Myka had said those words dozens of times before.

Carol sighed and looked outside the window. The light in her eyes slowly faded away. However, this lasted only for a few seconds. She put her phone back into her pocket and continued busying herself organizing the documents.

She saw Kieran at noon the next day.

As the president of Abner Corporation, Kieran sat in the president’s office. He was watching a woman bouncing on a man’s lap in a car on his LCD monitor, which occupied half of the wall.

Even the car window was shaking from the action.

This allowed the paparazzi to take clear videos. They even caught audio evidence of the woman moaning.

Kieran clicked pause at that part.

He was handsome, and his smile was wickedly charming. His legs were casually plopped on the office table while he toyed with a ball pen.

When he looked up, his gaze met that of Carol, who was sitting on the couch, but her expression was the same as before.

Kieran sneered at her and asked with mockery in his voice, “You must have watched the video plenty of times after buying the rights to it, Miss Coral.”

“Actually, no. Only twice, including this time.”

“Hah! Twice!” Kieran stood up and walked to her. “Do you enjoy seeing your husband f*ck another woman?”

“No,” Carol answered calmly. “I just thought you didn’t last that long. You might have been sleeping around too much lately, so you have some sort of sexual dysfunction. Do go for a checkup at an andrologist when you have time and get some medicine. Otherwise, what will people say if videos like these spread around?”

Kieran grabbed her chin.

How dare she mock him?!

Kieran’s sneer faded away, and disgust rose in his eyes. “Did you actually think I’d sleep with you after you said that?! Carol, I’m telling you right now that you’re less than a whore to me! I’d dirty my hands touching you! Also, don’t think I can’t do anything to you just because you have Gramps supporting you!

“Sooner or later, you’ll pay for your idiocy! You’ll regret marrying me!”

His grip was strong, and Carol’s lower jaw started hurting.

She clenched her fists and bore the pain without saying anything.

Relief came only when Kieran decided to leave with a slam of the door.
