Chapter 2

Author: Chubby Bun
I shook my head and exclaimed, “I didn’t, Rob!”

I had, alas, forgotten that I was dead. There was no way for him to hear me.

“That’s right, she left five years ago. Sir, who are you to Hetty?”

Rob did not answer. Instead, he left the private room with an angry expression. He put on his sunglasses and became cold again.

His assistant, Jack Scott, asked timidly, “Mr. Anderson, do you believe that Ms. Smith has run off with a man?”

I stood silently next to Rob and heard him snort.

“I don’t. What woman in there would tell the truth? They’re just telling you what you want to hear in both bed and real life. They’re nothing compared to Fiona. But Fiona’s refusing to eat. I can’t leave that be. Use all my networks to find Heather. Even if she’s dead, I want her to be dug out of her grave!”

He would not be able to find me.

Even the police could not find me, let alone Rob.

After receiving clear instructions from Rob, Jack quickly went down the stairs. When he was about to get into the car, he saw a dirty young girl dressed in torn clothing next to the car. She was tracing the car logo with her finger.

Jack got furious and kicked Sally Anderson away before yelling, “Whose kid is this? Go away! Do you know how expensive this car is? You won’t be able to pay if you damage it!”

Sally stumbled and fell to the ground. Her palms started bleeding, and she had to bite her lower lip to stop herself from crying.

I ran over subconsciously, only to become even more frantic when I tried to touch her body. My hand passed through it completely. I could not touch her.

“Baby, baby, don’t cry… Mommy’s here…”

Even though Sally could not hear me, I was still trying to comfort her.

Jack was still scolding, “I saw you digging through the trash for food earlier. Why? Do your parents not feed you? Aren’t you afraid of poisoning yourself by eating trash?”

Seeing Jack humiliate Sally like that made me furious. I walked toward him with my hand raised, only stopping when I was close enough to know that I could not slap him.

I could not do anything. I could only watch as Sally got bullied.

At the same time, Rob walked over. He asked Jack to get into the car. Then, he patiently took out an expensive chocolate truffle and passed it to Sally.

Sally’s eyes immediately lit up.

Just as Rob was about to leave, Sally hugged his thigh. “Sir, are you here to look for Hetty?”

Rob sized her up. “Yes, do you know her?”

Sally nodded. She unwrapped the chocolate and ate it. Then, she smiled happily. “Hetty always bullied me. She’s a bad woman! Sir, you’re a good man for giving me chocolate. But Hetty’s a bad woman. Don’t look for her anymore.”

My blood ran cold.

Sally was my only family left.

Why was she smearing my name alongside the other ladies?

I had treated her so well. I had given birth to her and had looked after her as much as I could. Why was she badmouthing me after my death?

Rob did not care about Sally’s attempt to get closer to him.

I collapsed onto the ground as my legs gave out. When I looked up again, I saw that Sally’s right pupil shone red.

Rob also saw that.

He frowned slightly, but before he could say a word, Sally ran away and disappeared into the night.

She said as she ran, “The chocolate you gave me was so sweet. I’m so happy!”

Sally was lying. But why would Sally lie?

“After I escaped, I became a bartender. If it weren’t for you, I can’t imagine how pitiful my life would be. It was just a coincidence. I didn’t expect Heather to pass by that day…”I did not know whether Rob was listening to her or not. He appeared terrifyingly calm. My body was beyond recognition. Amy accompanied Sally to the crematorium as they cremated me. “From now on, I’ll be your mother. Even though my job is looked down on, I’ll do my best to bring you up. It’s better to be with us than your useless dad.” Amy patted Sally’s head as she cried. Sally nodded obediently. I could feel my soul getting lighter on the days that followed. I could leave Rob for a short period at a time. I knew that these were signs that I was about to leave this world. Rob then came over to ask Sally to be with him. Amy disagreed and argued with him.In the end, Sally stopped them. She was only five, and she was barely half of Rob’s height, but she still looked up at him daringly and reje

Amy’s breath quickened as she stood up for me. “Rob, you’re a powerman. Why can’t you just let Heather go?”She wiped her tears away. “I’m telling you the truth. Heather didn’t go overseas. She died four years ago; it was the second year you sold her off to the club. She was murdered. The murderer mistook her for Fiona and killed her. We lied to you that she went overseas because we did not want you to bother her anymore. She died because of you! You owe her for life! Don’t you know that?”It turned out that I had misunderstood them. They had said that I went overseas because they did not want Rob to harass me. Sally refused to admit that I was her mother, and Liam chose to be my affair partner because they wanted to protect me. A single tear trickled down my cheek. It fell onto the floor, but it left no stain. Rob was stunned for a really long time. “If it weren’t for you abandoning her at the club, how could she be killed in the streets? If you truly feel sorry, you s

Rob put on a fake smile. In the next few days, Rob locked Sally home and did not allow her to leave. He even put her in a dog cage. Sally was not mad at all. She was even laughing innocently. That was, until Fiona returned to the mansion and burned everything that I owned. Sally was furious. She pushed Fiona aside. “You can’t burn these!” I had not left anything for Sally when I died. The only few pieces of clothing that I had owned had been buried with the coffin. Fiona stumbled backwards and fell into Rob’s arms. “Rob, whose child is this? Can you get rid of her? I’m annoyed with her, and she even pushed me! I’m just burning a few of Heather’s clothes.” I watched as Sally reached into the fire, wanting to retrieve my belongings. Her hands were severely burned. I could not breathe as I watched. Her right eye turned red from anger, and Rob saw it clearly. He suddenly let go of Fiona and stepped forward. Then, he hugged Sally. “Your mother is Heather, right?“Her ri

He slapped the back of my head and dragged me into the alley. “You divorce me so you can be Rob’s mistress, huh? Don’t you find yourself disgusting?”He was talking about Fiona. The street lamp was coincidentally broken. There was no light, so I could not see his face. It was the same for him. He thought that I was Fiona. I could not say anything because he held his hand against my mouth. I kept shaking my head as he tore my clothes apart and forced himself on me.Thirty minutes later, he put his pants back on, and the street lamps lit up at the same time. When he saw my bloodied face, he was shocked. “Who are you? The person who tipped me said that Fiona would be out buying a cake! Who the hell are you?”I took out my phone and unlocked it. There were a few missed calls from Amy. When I attempted to call the police, the man grabbed my phone and tossed it into the gushing river. He also threw me into the river. I died a horrific death on a rainy night. I was drowned

I could only follow Rob and get in his car. Before we left, I saw the people who had verified my corpse coming out of the police station. It was the ladies that I worked with and Sally. They were sobbing uncontrollably. They hugged Sally as her right eye flashed red. Why was Sally angry again? Was it because she had seen my mangled body?Liam stepped forward and took Sally from them. I could no longer see what transpired after. I wanted to leave Rob. I was unsure of when my soul would disappear. I wanted to spend some time with Sally before my soul was completely gone.Rob received a call from Jack. “Investigate a man named Liam! When did he get together with Heather? Give me all the details!” After he ended the call, he parked the car on the side of the road and stayed still until almost midnight. He leaned his head against the steering wheel. The media outlets and directors called him and asked him why he had left Fiona at the altar. I heard the phone calls clearly.

The scene was a huge mess. I did not expect them to find my dead body in the river of the neighboring city. I also did not understand why my body had not decomposed. On the way to the police station, Rob kept smoking. The car was filled with smoke before Jack remembered to roll down the windows. I was seated next to him. He suddenly turned around and looked in my direction. For a moment, I thought he saw me. He reached out and waved the smoke away before saying calmly, “Didn’t these women say that Heather had left the country? She died? I don’t believe it. I want to see what tricks she has up her sleeves again. I bet she’s tricking me with a fake corpse.” He finished an entire pack of cigarettes. Then, Rob and Jack finally reached the police station. Rob got out of the car and slammed the door shut. “I’m going to fire you if you drive this slow again the next time!” Because of his high-profile character, he had to wear sunglasses all the time. The police got him to wa
