Chapter 3

Penulis: Seasons
With a clank, the expensive earrings were smashed onto the marble floor and cracked a little.

“Don’t bother. Keep them for yourself.”

I sneered and turned to leave. But I heard a plop. I did not expect Clara to jump into the pool.

She struggled in the water. Her slim-fit white dress had turned almost transparent. Her long black hair spread in the water. She looked weak and helpless.

She begged me miserably. “Jane, I was wrong. Just let me off!”

Then, a familiar voice rebuked me from behind.

“Clara has always been weak. How could you push her into the pool in such cold weather?!”

I turned around.

Silas’ gaze was cold. His loud voice came with suppressed anger.

[Silas came to say sorry to Jane. But it’s not going to happen now.]

[He purposely bought the most expensive item to give Jane.]

[He didn’t talk about it, but he still cares about her.]

[But there’s going to be a misunderstanding between them now.]

[So, is he still going to try winning her back now?! I’m looking forward to it!]

The comments grew suspicious when the onlookers saw how angry Silas was.

[Couldn’t Silas see through such bad acting skills?]

[Is it acting? Or is he trying to beat her at her own game? We wouldn’t know.]

In a few seconds, these words disappeared in the endless comments.

[As long as Jane makes things clear to the male lead, the male lead will take her side!]

[Yeah! As long as she says it, Silas will believe her!]

[Why didn’t they talk it out? I’m driven mad!]

They wanted me to explain myself. How naive!

In my previous life, Clara had jumped off the building during my wedding.

Silas was certain that I had purposely provoked Clara.

After Clara died, they discovered her diary in her room. It was full of memories of how our mother abused her and was biased toward me. On top of that, she wrote about how I had bullied her. She was always walking on thin ice at home.

But anyone could tell that the diary was new based on its papers and the color of the ink…

However, Silas would not believe me, no matter how I explained myself. I even showed him the result of the cops’ investigation. He was still adamant that I had caused Clara’s death.

He got quite drunk on the day of the first anniversary of Clara’s funeral.

He stabbed my chest, cruelly twisting the sharp blade to torment me.

I knew that explaining myself would be meaningless.

Silas jumped into the pool without any hesitation and rescued Clara.

A waiter nearby hurriedly handed warm water and a towel to him.

Although Silas was an impatient man, he meticulously wiped Clara dry.

His gentle gaze and careful actions made him a different man from when he was with me.

Clara looked at me. She bit her pale lips, and her fair skin was stained with tears.

“I bought the thing she liked today. Normally, she resents me. It’s fine, Silas. She knew that this pool was shallow and wouldn’t hurt me. She probably just wanted to punish me.”

Those few words were enough to send Silas into a fury.

“The pool was almost frozen. Are you calling it a mere punishment?! If I came any later, you might have drowned!”

Silas slowly turned toward me. Great anger burned in his eyes.

Clara yanked his sleeves and looked worried. “But there are no grudges between us. Why would she want to kill me?”

Silas threw me a contemptuous sidelong glance.

  • I Refused To Be Picked For Marriage   Chapter 10

I could not imagine how desperate my mother’s final thoughts had been when she died. She had no idea if her only daughter was alive or not. Besides, the man she had married for many years had conspired with his mistress to get her killed.I remembered that my mother had always been a gentle and kind woman. She was very nice to the subordinates at home. Not only did she not overwork them, but she also raised their salaries. She was also very nice to Adam. Whenever his company encountered difficulties, my mother would ask for her family’s help to resolve those issues. My mother had never wronged him.I slowly exposed the truth with everyone watching me. The nanny nearby had long panicked. She tried to escape, but the crowd held her firmly.Adam pointed at her and fervently complained about her. “Your mother’s death had nothing to do with me. It was her! She bewitched me! That’s why I got fooled. She was the culprit!”At the sight of that, the nanny decided to give up. “You pro

[Yeah. Luckily, the second male lead witnessed everything.][He’s finally seen her true colors. It’s time to cancel his engagement with Jane!][Serves her right! Oh, I’m so glad!][What are you waiting for? Hurry up!]Clara raised her voice while calling for help. She appeared excited. I turned around. As expected, I saw Jim standing behind me and staring at my hand.He was momentarily stunned before he suddenly looked up vigilantly. He scanned his surroundings and confirmed that there was no one else. Then, he stealthily glanced at the surveillance system. He fished his phone out and made a call before whispering something into the mouthpiece. In a few seconds, the red light of the surveillance camera dimmed. After that, he heaved a sigh and clapped his hands. “It’s done.”In a trance, Clara watched all that while gripping the stone in the pool. She even forgot about struggling. In the next second, Jim came to me asking for an appraisal. “No one is going to see us now. I

“It’s me. Not you.” A clear voice came from behind. I subconsciously smiled.Jim tilted his head and accepted the thermos from me. Then, he casually leaned against the wall and stressed his words.Silas pursed his lips and appeared as if he was about to flare up in a rage. “Jane, you can have the entire Jordan family as long as you go home with me.” Silas took a step forward with agitation, but Jim quickly stopped him. “That’s unnecessary, Mr. Jordan. My family is already hers. Can’t you see how happy she is now?”While talking, Jim turned to look at me with a gentle gaze. “Even her skin looks better. But when she was with you, she would either be mocked or in danger. I think we know who suits her more.”He looked at Silas. He raised his brow and narrowed his deep-set eyes. His gaze was rather cold.In the end, Silas was held back outside the company. He quietly watched our intimate backs. When I met Jim the first time, he was particularly excited. “It’s you. I’ve been waiti

“Dear, it’s fine as long as you keep Silas. After you marry him, he’ll keep you just to save face, even if he knows the truth. Then, we’ll enjoy endless glory and wealth!”“Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll be his wife.”Silas was struck dumb outside the door as his pulse raced. The diary was fake, too. Its content of Jane bullying Clara from a young age was also fake.Silas subconsciously clenched his fists as an unspeakable anger gripped him. Surprisingly, Clara had fooled him for so many years. He even did many bad things to Jane… In the end, he even killed her.His rage quickly ebbed away. He felt dispirited. It seemed like he owed Jane a lot. But after all, Clara back then…Silas heaved a soft sigh and quietly went home with his things. Three days passed by, but he still did nothing. The comments resurfaced. [Hey! How could he forgive her… Did Clara save him?!][Is he not going to do anything?][He’s so forgiving…][Let me chime in! I’ve read the side story!][Someone saved h

Silas gripped the speaker and looked delighted. That person hesitantly fished his phone out.“Yeah, Mr. Jordan. Look… Someone snapped a photo.”In the photo, Jane was holding the hand of a tall and handsome man while smiling brightly.Silas stared at her face as he could not believe his eyes. As for the man with a pale face beside her…“I heard that she and Mr. Cook hit it off right after they met. They shared the same feelings and purposely brought their marriage forward.”Hearing that, Silas’s face sank, which escaped his notice.[The male lead must be eager to snatch the bride away since he realized that she’s still alive.][Unexpectedly, they became the reason for the female lead to meet the second male lead beforehand!][Why did the second male lead win over the female lead? Of course, it’s because the male lead did nothing.][Look at the male lead. I guess he can no longer hold himself back.]“No, it can’t be!” Suddenly, Clara’s expression changed. She held the glass of

I was reluctant to answer her and walked past her.Clara did not seem to read my mood. She kept following me.She did not just board the same plane as me, but she also sat beside me. When she walked past me, she glanced at my phone and said, “Don’t worry, Jane. I’ve booked more than ten bouquets for Mom. When we get there, we can visit her right away.”Clara waved her phone and showed me her order.I looked at it. There were lilies, daffodils, tulips, hyacinths… I wondered why she would buy those flowers.“Did you… buy these?” I sounded hesitant. When I finally talked to her, she grew smug. “Yeah, I don’t always visit Mom. Of course, I’ve got to do it myself.”Her words made me more puzzled. She did not seem to notice my reaction.“Why? Didn’t she like these flowers the most? If not, the garden at home wouldn’t be full of these.”Suddenly, a bold guess dawned on me. Then, I faked a smile and nodded. “Yeah, you’re right.” The plane encountered severe turbulence during the f
