Chapter 4: Must act!

At 7 AM, Katherine entered the building of the Flying Star Company. Her long, shiny platinum hair and tight-fitting business suit accentuated her well-proportioned body. Her high heels clattered on the floor of the hall. Right now it was not working time, the reception was still not there to receive guests, but a man was standing there waiting for her. She guessed it might be staff from the human resources department who came to pick up the new employee.

Thinking of last night, Louis accepted her to work. She only said a few provocations to which he agreed. She knew Louis’s personality, although he was arrogant and had high self-esteem, he was not one to be angered easily. The fact that he accepted her to work was undoubtedly his other scheme. Bet her future days at this company wouldn’t be pleasant.

But she also didn’t care, the first important thing she needed to do after returning to this city was to enter his company. She made it. In the following days, she would slowly continue to plan.

Last night, she got home and immediately received an email from Harry Biden, Louis must have informed him about this.

Katherine continued walking. A tall, slender man in a suit walked up to her, politely extending his hand, "Hello, Miss Jeremy, I'm Matthew Thompson, Mr. Williams' assistant. I will introduce you to the company's departments and secretarial work. Welcome!"

Louis's assistant? Not the HR department but the CEO's assistant? If this story got out, what kind of scandal would it create?

Louis Williams, it turned out that's what you're aiming for.

It's okay, she was pleased with this greeting.

Katherine smiled slightly, shook hands with Matthew, and replied, "Hi, Mr. Thompson, you can call me Katherine. I don't have much experience, hope you can help me."

“It is my duty, Katherine. Call me Matthew, we seem to be the same age."

The 40th floor was the working space of the secretariat, assistant, and Louis. The whole large floor covered an indescribably quiet atmosphere, just like the personality of its owner. The neutral color palette, and simple decoration but still attractive in their way.

Along the way, Matthew talked to her a lot. It could be seen that this assistant is a sociable and dynamic person. She wondered how he could bear Louis' unpleasantness. Matthew led her to a desk and said:

“This is your desk. Employees who come to work will be given a computer with its password. Only you and I know your computer password. If any important information is leaked, it is easy for us to find out from which computer and blame that person. Please keep this in mind. Commercial espionage is a very sensitive phrase in big companies.”

Katherine nodded. Matthew continued, “Don’t worry. Your job is to arrange boss's work schedule, accompany him to partner meetings if required, and document the negotiation process. Also, if boss has something that needs your help even outside of work, you can consider doing it yourself."

"Ah, that's right." Matthew thinks of something.

“Let me take you to boss’s office.”

Katherine followed Matthew to Louis's office. The precious ebony door hung his nameplate. Matthew did not knock but directly opened the door, inviting her to come inside.

“Also, as boss's secretary, you also need to pay attention to his daily routine. Boss likes to drink Cappuccino, neither too sweet nor too bitter. Every morning when you arrive at our company, just stop at the coffee shop on the first floor to buy and remind them the ratio is okay…”

She listened to Matthew speak for a moment, memorizing every word he said. Louis had always liked to drink Cappuccino because it neutralized all tastes. It was not too sweet like Latte or bitter like Americano. If placed with a clear sweet and bitter taste like her, his and her preferences were opposite. She knew his preferences like the back of her hand, that's why she said, no one was more suitable for this position of a secretary than her.

The office room was about 70m2 wide, decorated very simply and neatly, creating a lot of spacious space. Apart from the necessary electronics, papers, and books, he didn’t have much to decorate. The most impressive feature in the room was probably the white camellia pot placed next to Louis's desk.

Katherine stood still looking at that white camellia pot, her heart fell into a deep thought until Matthew spoke.

"He hasn't come to the company yet." Matthew looked around once.

However, as soon as he finished saying, the door behind Louis's desk suddenly opened. Louis in sports pajamas slowly walks out, seeing the people in the room was not surprised.

"Hi boss, did you sleep at the company last night?" Matthew asked.

Matthew saw Louis appear without surprise as if it had been a regular occurrence.

Katherine looked at him blankly. His hair was a bit messy, his face was still dreamy from just waking up, and his clothes were comfortable, but Louis was still so handsome!

Louis's voice was a little hoarse, perhaps because the temperature in the bedroom was a bit low, leading to a dry throat, "Yeah, I had to read the report of the company in M country so I stayed here."

Matthew walked back a few steps, stood beside Katherine, and introduced her to Louis:

“Boss, Miss Jeremy is here. I have introduced her to the job, the secretary Chloe will hand over it in more detail shortly.”

Louis sat down in the CEO's chair, quietly observing Katherine. When Matthew finished, Louis waved his hand and said, "Okay, you go out. When the working time starts, send me the report of the 4th company."

Matthew nodded, he motioned for Katherine to go out with him, but just as Katherine turned around, Louis called back, "I told Matthew to go out, but you, stay here."

The door closed, leaving only Katherine and Louis facing each other. He kept staring at her making her feel extremely embarrassed. Unable to bear it anymore, Katherine had to speak:

“Boss, what do you want for breakfast? Sandwich? Cereal? Or is…"

Louis didn’t let her finish, cutting her off, “Your nametag… Nice name.”

Katherine looked down at the nametag on her chest, which Matthew had given her just now. She hesitated for a moment, then looked Louis straight in the eye and said softly, "Louis, I hope you can call me Katherine. Let's see Elise Grande was dead."

“Elise Grande was dead? So now, which reasons allow you to stand in front of me, begging me to remember my old love and accept you to work? Then say you want to be my girlfriend?”

Katherine moved her lips not knowing how to answer…

Louis suddenly stood up. His tall figure seemed to envelop her. He gripped Katherine's small chin tightly, his voice almost demonic, his eyes sharp as if threatening.

“Katherine Jeremy, I don't care what your name is. I command you, in front of me, must act like Elise Grande!"
