Bella's POV

I was at the garage at six again.

It was definitely not because of Draven.

We were training with his bike at noon and I had to make sure the adjustment passed a final check before the afternoon session.

I wanted the bike cold when I did it, which meant early, which meant six, which had nothing to do with anything else.

I told myself that twice on the walk over. I wasn't sure it didn't sound like a lie even to me.

The garage was empty when I arrived which was what I wanted.

Bella's POVThor found me as we made our way back to the garage. I saw his face before he said anything and I stopped walking.Jules nearly walked into my back."What?" I said.Thor looked at Jules, then at Gordon, then back at me."Draven needs you," he said shortly. "Now."Jules and Gordon exchanged glances but I ignored it and waved them off."I'll catch up, tell Cade," I said to them. Gordon nodded but Jules looked like he was about to say something until Gordon dragged him off. I fell into step beside Thor going the other direction."What is it?" I asked."Council representative," he said. "He arrived forty minutes ago.""No advance notice?" I asked, frowning and he nodded."None," he confirmed. "Full documentation, council seal, everything legitimate on paper.""Why am I going?""He asked for you specifically," Thor said. "By name. Has a report that apparently requires your direct acknowledgment. Can't go through Draven."I kept walking, keeping my face neutral while my mind wor

Draven's POVRain was coming, I could smell it in the air as my paws pressed against the dry soil.I had been running for almost three miles past the northern border stretch when Thor's howl echoed along the forest. That was an alarm. My paws scratched along the grass as I pushed a burst of speed flying across the plain to catch up with his howl. The closet I got my wolf caught the scent of the runner before I heard the footsteps — one of the younger pack members, barely patched in, moving fast enough through the trees that I shifted my direction without breaking pace.He slowed down when he found me, breathing hard. I shifted to my human form in barely two minutes exhaling sharply, grabbing the folded note he held in his hand without speaking and I opened the message.Representative from the Alpha Council. Arrived twenty minutes ago. Waiting in your office. Come back.I read it twice. Then I folded it and looked to the young cub“ Tell him I'll finish the run,the rep can wait” I mu

Bella's POV"Hi, I'm Bella," I whispered, staring back at the little boy with his wide brown eyes.He was a cute kid, red hair falling over his forehead into his face, and he seemed entirely unbothered by the fact that he was lying on a stranger in the middle of the road."Jamie." Gordon's voice came from somewhere above us, sounding strained between relief and mortification. "What did I say about running on the path?"Jamie rolled over as he considered this seriously."Not to," he said."And?""And I did it anyway." He looked at me, still on the ground, with the particular lack of remorse that existed in children under ten. "Sorry," he said, not sounding very sorry at all."It's fine," I said.It wasn't really. I could feel his elbow in my ribs and I was likely going to be sore for a few days but it wasn't bad enough to scold the kid.Besides, I didn't really mind it. I hadn't been this close to a child in years. In Moonstone Pack, despite being Luna in practice if not in title, I ha

I needed the quiet for a moment to hear myself think before anyone else had filled the room with their sounds and laughter.I pulled the canvas off Draven's bike and crouched at the rear. The adjustment was fine. I'd known it would be fine — I'd checked it twice the night before and once more in my head between two and four in the morning when I had stopped being able to sleep. It was fine. The settings were locked where I'd

  • I Rejected My Mate For The Biker Rogue Lord.   Chapter eighty nine

Ronan's POVThe bottle was half-empty.I had been measuring what was left against what I still needed to get through the night. The fire in the study had burned down to the coals and nobody had come to rebuild it because I'd thrown the last servant out two hours ago when he'd asked if I needed it.His tone had been grating.I didn't need anything. The council's letter sitting on my desk where it had been for three days mocked me for the liar that I was.I'd stopped turning it face down because it didn't matter anymore — I knew what it said without reading it.Twenty one days had become eighteen, then twelve and now nine and I was sitting in my study at eleven at night with a half-empty bottle, watching the coals die.Nine days.Draven was smug, thinking he would win. I smirked as I poured another measured drop into the glass and looked at the fire.I had been riding since I was a child, then I met Bella and we rode together but after our mating, I was either riding with the pack or Je

  • I Rejected My Mate For The Biker Rogue Lord.   Chapter eighty eight

Draven's POVI wasn't exactly sure how I found myself sneaking into Bella's room in the middle of the night.I made it to the corridor my feet dragging against the floor before I collapsed against the wall outside the mess hall. The sounds of the people from the mess hall still audible from the other side of the door I'd come through.I stood there, took a deep breath, my mind going somewhere I couldn't follow.Clara knew exactly what she was doing, but I couldn't call her out on it, not when I was pretending not to know that she had misguided feelings for me.A braver man would have ended it by now. I wasn't that brave and I knew it.I pushed off the wall and kept walking. The night was colder than I expected especially after a warm day. I crossed the yard not sure where exactly I was going, which should have told me something. My wolf was restless, prowling along my mind the way it got when I had been disturbed.Shift. Free. Run.The words echoed, each louder than the last — the tin
