The light in Lilith's eyes vanished.

"He's not holding it anymore?"

She raised her voice.

Several coworkers looked over curiously.

Realizing she'd overreacted, she quickly lowered her voice and forced a worried expression.

"What happened all of a sudden?

"Is Iris not feeling well?"

Digging my nails into my palm, I shook my head.

"No. She's with pup.

"Ronan's worried the ceremony would be too exhausting for her while she's with pup.

"They're just going to complete the official paperwork first and postpone the ceremony."

Something flickered across Lilith's eyes. She then smiled again. It was a sweet but fake smile.

"That makes sense.

"They've already completed the marking anyway. She's already the Luna of the Silver Moon Pack.

"Oh, right. I heard Ronan really bought Iris that incredibly expensive bag. Did he?"

I looked up at her.

She feigned innocence.

"Don't get me wrong. I just think Iris is so lucky.

"These days, plenty of werewolves won't even spend a little money on their mates, but Ronan was willing to spend that much on her.

"A powerful and generous Alpha like him? Any shewolf who became his mate would be the envy of everyone."

She smiled brightly just like she had in my previous life.

First, she praised Ronan.

Then, she talked about how lucky Iris was.

In the end, she destroyed our family with her own hands after climbing into Ronan's bed herself.

I forced a smile.

"Since the ceremony isn't happening, there's no reason for you to come."

The smile faded from Lilith's face. She looked down and gripped the file in her hands tightly.

"It's okay. I was being presumptuous.

"I was just thinking that the partnership we've been working on for next month is about to be finalized.

"The other pack happens to place great importance on ancient ceremonies and blessings.

"I thought if I could witness an Alpha's marking ceremony, they'd trust me more during negotiations.

"But if it's inconvenient for you, then forget it."

She forced a smile, but her eyes quickly welled with tears.

In my previous life, I had fallen for that pitiful expression. I'd softened and agreed to bring her home. In the end, my family was ruined.

Now, seeing that same act again only made me sick.

Ignoring her, I turned around to leave. Just then, our department manager, Evander, walked out of his office.

"What project?"

He frowned.

"Lilith, which project were you talking about?"

With tears in her eyes, Lilith sniffled.

"The one our team has spent over half a year working on.

"I heard the other pack's Alpha believes strongly in good fortune, so I wanted to attend an Alpha's ceremony to receive some blessings.

"But Mirabel–"

She deliberately left her sentence unfinished. Knowing nothing about the situation, Evander immediately turned to criticize me.

"Mirabel, everyone here is working for the good of the pack. Look at Lilith. She's completely devoted to the team.

"And you? It's just a ceremony. Why can't you let a fellow pack member attend?

"I'll make the decision for you. You're taking Lilith with you. The gift money will come from the pack's expense account. Get it from the Finance department."

Another coworker chimed in.

"Exactly. Aren't you just bringing someone to a ceremony?

"It's not like your family has to adopt another werewolf.

"If this project falls through, our entire department will lose resources.

"Mirabel, don't be so selfish."

I explained that Ronan wasn't planning to hold the ceremony.

Lilith's eyes grew even redder.

"It's okay.

"If the ceremony isn't possible, then just having dinner with the Alpha and the Luna and receiving their blessing would be enough.

"I just want to experience it," she said softly.

I had nothing left to say.

My coworkers became even more self-righteous. They surrounded me and made sarcastic remarks.

Evander even declared that if the project failed, I'd be held responsible.

Looking at all those self-righteous faces, I finally answered, "Fine. I'll let Lilith attend Ronan's ceremony."

Evander immediately smiled and patted my shoulder.

"That's more like it. Attending a ceremony is about offering blessings, not bringing bad luck. What's there to worry about?"

Then he turned to Lilith.

"Remember to ask the Finance department for a generous gift budget. We don't want to look stingy."

Lilith beamed.

"Of course!"

"Hold on. I wasn't done talking." I interrupted them with a smile.

"Ronan just decided to take Iris to the ancient ruins for a private blessing ceremony.

"So sure, you can come to the ceremony. It's just that Ronan and Iris won't actually be in our territory. That won't be a problem, will it?"

Ronan and Iris decided to hold their marking ceremony. It was rescheduled for one week later. This time, we prepared for every possible threat. The hotel's surveillance system had no blind spots.Their suite was moved to a high-floor room with upgraded dual-authentication locks.Guards were stationed at every entrance and exit.No one was left unattended for even a moment. We even hired a professional crew to record the entire ceremony. Access was limited to family members only. The day before the ceremony, Lilith's mother came to see me."Mirabel, Lilith knows she was wrong."She's still young. C-Could you please write a Letter of Understanding for her?"I chuckled."If we hadn't had evidence, who would've shown mercy to us?"That's why I won't show mercy to her either."On the day of the marking ceremony, Iris walked down the aisle in her ceremonial gown.Standing at the front, Ronan's eyes immediately welled with tears. He nearly lost his composure."Iris, these past

The next day, I didn't go back to work.Instead, I hired the pack's legal counsel and had them send a formal demand letter.Less than thirty minutes after it was delivered, Evander called."Mirabel, what is this supposed to mean?"The company was simply trying to let a coworker share in your family's joy, and now you're turning around and biting the hand that fed you?"I snorted."Share in our joy?"You call breaking into Ronan's bedroom through a window, drugging him, and staging a fake assault good intentions?""Lilith's actions were her own. They have nothing to do with the company.""Really?"I played the recording over speakerphone. His own voice from the office the previous day filled the line."I'll make the decision for you. You're taking Lilith."If this project fails, you'll be held responsible."There was silence on the other end of the call.I spoke slowly while emphasizing every syllable."I've already reported this to the authorities. I've also hired a law

As Lilith was dragged away, she continued screaming."Mirabel! You ruined my life!"How dare you do this to me?"I stared at her coldly."I ruined your life?"Did I force you to climb through Ronan's bedroom window?"Did I force you to drug him?"Did I force you to fake those bite marks?"Lilith, do you want to prove you're innocent?"Fine. Go stand before the elders and explain every single thing you've done."As she was being taken away, she suddenly turned back. Her eyes were filled with hatred."Don't get too smug, Mirabel."Evander won't let you get away with this."I smiled."Good."I wasn't planning on letting him get away with it either."After they left, no one in the yard spoke. Those who had been filming the spectacle all lowered their heads. They couldn't meet my eyes.I slowly turned around and looked over everyone."Who recorded videos of Ronan and Iris this morning?"No one answered.I retrieved my phone."I've recorded everything that happened tod

"Mirabel, have you lost your mind? You installed a camera in Ronan and Iris' bedroom? That's an invasion of privacy!"I looked at her and smiled."Weren't you the one claiming Ronan assaulted you?"Now that there's evidence to prove what really happened, why are you so nervous?"Lilith's face turned pale. She immediately turned to face the elders."Elders, she secretly recorded us! She violated our privacy! How can this video possibly count as evidence?"One of the elders frowned and looked at me.Iris also froze. Her tear-filled eyes were fixed on me.I took her hand reassuringly. "Iris, don't be afraid. The truth will be revealed soon."Walking over to the wardrobe, I picked up a stuffed rabbit. Its eyes were aimed at the bedroom, capturing everything inside clearly."I let this camera installed yesterday with Iris' permission."I looked around at everyone."Because I'd already realized there was something wrong with Lilith."Understanding immediately, Iris nodded. "Tha

The moment Lilith heard that I wanted to summon the elders, her body trembled with excitement. It was exactly what she wanted. In my previous life, she had done the same thing.Caught at the scene, with witnesses and what appeared to be overwhelming evidence, Ronan had committed a major taboo. The elders ordered him expelled from the pack.My aging parents couldn't bear the blow. Their hair seemed to turn gray overnight. In the end, they had no choice but to acknowledge Lilith as family in order to protect Ronan.Recalling that past life, I clenched my fists.Ignoring the pleading looks from my family, I contacted the Council of Elders.Ten minutes later, they arrived."Make way. What are all of you doing here?"The elders pushed through the crowd and entered the house."What happened?"Before I could speak, Lilith burst into tears."You have to uphold justice for me. I was nearly violated by the alpha–"She loosened the blanket just enough to expose the bite marks on he

Mom's words pierced my heart like a stake.I ran home like a madwoman.By the time I arrived, our yard was already packed with pack members.Dozens of them filled the yard. Some whispered among themselves, some wiped away tears, while others looked at me with complicated expressions.I pushed through the crowd. My heart was racing.Inside Ronan and Iris' bedroom, Lilith lay completely naked beneath a blanket. She was sobbing softly.Ronan stood nearby. He was still wearing the pajamas Iris had bought him. His face was terribly pale.Heavily pregnant, Iris stood there weeping uncontrollably. When Ronan saw me, he looked as if he had seen a lifesaver."Mirabel! Mirabel, please explain this situation to them! I swear I didn't do anything! I went to bed holding Iris last night. I really don't know this shewolf–"Lilith suddenly shrieked."You're lying! You sent me a message last night saying Mirabel had something she wanted to give me. That's why I came. But after I arrived, yo
