Chapter 2

Autor: Frostblade
The beer bottle shattered on Carla's back, sending shards of glass flying everywhere. Even in that critical moment, she didn't hesitate to step in front of Alex.

My eyes grew slightly red, but she didn't seem to notice. Instead, she glared at me.

"Hubert Hewitt, I've put up with your behavior for too long, haven't I? I was nice enough to introduce you to all my best friends, and you can't even take a joke?

"You had to ruin everything! If we weren't married, I would've called the cops on you. You deserve to be locked up for a few days so you can think about what you've done."

Alex wore a triumphant look and chuckled. "Carla, I told you from the start that your husband was no good. You should've taken my advice. Now you're learning the hard way.

"Come on. Let's go have some fun. We'll leave Hubert here to think about what he's done."

Carla gave me a warning look before walking away with Alex, reassuring him as they went.

The sea breeze was a little chilly, but it did nothing to extinguish the anger burning inside me.

Carla's friends exchanged glances but said nothing. One by one, they found excuses to slip away.

I was left sitting alone on the beach, staring out at the shoreline in a daze.

For the past four years, I had always believed Carla was the perfect wife. She remembered every special occasion and would always make my gifts by hand.

She gave me my first bouquet of flowers, saying that even a man deserved to have pretty flowers. I would casually mention wanting to try a restaurant, and she would drive me there the next day.

Both our parents had already met and approved of our relationship. Carla and I had even gotten legally married earlier, with our wedding ceremony set for next month.

However, whenever Alex was involved, none of that seemed to matter. When he came back from abroad, she secretly drove out in the middle of the night to pick him up from the airport.

Every day, Carla would pack lunch for me and do the same for him too. Thinking back, his lunch was always better than mine.

She had never missed a single one of our weekly candlelight dinners, yet one call from Alex was all it took for her to drop me without a second thought.

Whenever I got upset, she would say, "Alex's my best friend. I've always thought of him as a woman.

"How could I ever get with him? Stop assuming something's going on between us."

Since Carla and Alex were best friends, I figured their bond would only grow stronger once he became a woman.

I let out a chuckle when someone suddenly held out a roll of gauze. "You hurt your hand. Let me patch you up."

It was only then that I realized my right hand was covered in cuts from the shattered beer bottle. The wounds were still bleeding.

Seeing that I hadn't moved, Stephanie simply reached for my hand, lowered her gaze, and carefully bandaged my wound.

I thanked her for helping me. To my surprise, she didn't leave. She casually picked up a beer bottle and took a swig.

We sat on the beach together all night until the most beautiful sunrise I had ever seen spread across the horizon.

I took a photo and posted it on Instagram. "To a new beginning."

Stephanie and I took a taxi back to the hotel. The moment I went upstairs, I happened to run into Carla walking out of Alex's room. Her clothes were disheveled.

Her expression shifted when she saw me. Just as she was about to explain herself, Alex popped out from behind her.

It was already morning. Just as the system had promised, Alex was starting to develop several feminine features. His Adam's apple had shrunk a lot, and his features had taken on a certain softness.

Alex seemed oblivious to these changes. He casually wrapped an arm around Carla's waist. "Hubert, you're a lucky man, aren't you? Carla has the best figure I've ever seen."

"Stop talking nonsense!" Carla immediately shoved his hand away and quickly walked over to me.

"Hubert, don't get it wrong. We were just gossiping all night."

I lowered my gaze and caught her absently fidgeting with her pants. It was one of her tells. That meant she was clearly lying.

Stephanie pulled me possessively into her arms, looking down at Carla in disdain. There was an unmistakable possessiveness in her voice. "Hubert's with me now."Carla's face twitched with anger. She staggered to her feet and pointed at Stephanie in disbelief. "I thought we were best friends. How could you steal my man?"Stephanie sneered. "You used to think of Alex as your best friend, but you still ended up in bed with him, didn't you? So much for being best friends."At the mention of Alex, Carla suddenly recalled all the snide looks and cold shoulders she had put up with lately. She then lunged at Stephanie, swinging a fist at her. However, before Carla could even get close, Stephanie swiftly tossed her over her shoulder and slammed her to the ground.Carla grimaced in pain. She instinctively looked up at me, only to find me staring back coldly. "You didn't appreciate what you had. And now that it's gone, you finally regret everything? It's too late."Stephanie held me tight

I knew it. Stephanie was interested in me!I held back a grin and pretended to look troubled. "I have, but who could I even date?"Stephanie could tell I was just teasing her. She let out a chuckle and took my hand, her expression serious."Hubert, the truth is, I've liked you for a long time, ever since high school. I wanted to confess my feelings in college, but you were already with someone else. "I spent two years losing weight, hoping you'd finally notice me. I think you should let go of the past. We can start a new life together, okay?"Looking at Stephanie, I couldn't help but laugh and nod. I would be a fool to turn down a gorgeous woman who had walked into my life.…Things progressed quickly between us. Stephanie was mature and understanding, exactly what I wanted in a partner. When I brought her home to meet my parents, they pulled me aside, frowning. "Hubert, are you certain she's not attracted to women?"I snorted with laughter. After knowing Stephanie for so lo

Mom and Dad started informing our relatives that my wedding had been called off. Since my relatives had met Carla, they couldn't understand why I had decided to divorce such a thoughtful, beautiful wife. Just then, Mom and Dad pretended to wipe away their tears. "That shameless woman had us all fooled! Did you know? She's actually into women!"My relatives were shocked, but after thinking it over, they thought it made perfect sense. Just like that, word spread that Carla was a lesbian who had tricked me into marrying her. However, the next afternoon, Mom came home with bruises on her face. After asking what had happened, I learned that she had been gossiping about Carla to the neighbors. Carla's mother happened to walk by with her relatives, and when she heard there was some juicy gossip, she quickly pulled them over to see what was going on. At first, Carla's mother laughed so hard at the story until she was practically breathless. She only realized that the gossip was about

It was a busy time, with tourists returning to the hotel for a break. My voice was loud, and with the shocking things I was spitting out, it didn't take long for a crowd to gather. "No wonder you've been fighting with me lately. So, you've been sleeping with your best friend! You know what? Let's get a divorce! "We'll cancel the wedding ceremony too! You like women, yet you tricked me into marrying you! I'm going to expose your true colors for everyone to see!" I lashed out at Carla, letting out all the resentment I had been bottling up over the past few days. My eyes were bloodshot, as if I had been dealt a terrible blow. The crowd started murmuring among themselves. "I can't believe she tricked him into marrying her. Damn!""What a shameless woman! I hope she gets what she deserves!" The moment Carla saw me, she forgot all about the divorce and grabbed my hand tightly. Her voice trembled. "That's not true, Hubert. Believe me. I don't like women that way. Alex… Alex was su

Carla lowered her gaze. Alex's upper body had become remarkably curvy, and his chest looked even fuller than hers. She staggered backward as if she had just seen a ghost. The shock in her voice was unmistakable as she said, "You…"Perplexed, Alex followed her gaze down to his own body. He nearly fainted when he saw the prominent curves of his chest. "Damn! What the hell is going on?" A high-pitched, feminine voice escaped his throat, startling even him. "No… Hold up! How did my voice get like this?"Alex suddenly felt a sharp pain in his lower abdomen. A rush of warm fluid gushed from his lower body, as if a floodgate had been opened. A faint, unpleasant odor hung in the air. Carla stared at the blood staining the crotch of Alex's pants. Her eyes widened in shock. "A… Alex, not only did you grow breasts, but you even got your period!"Alex looked down and said helplessly, "Carla, I… I don't know what's going on!"As he looked up, she suddenly let out a startled cry. "Who are

Over the past few days, Alex's feminine features had become more prominent. He had slimmed down a lot, and his skin looked softer than before. His Adam's apple was totally gone, and his voice had grown noticeably higher-pitched. From afar, anyone would have mistaken him for a young woman with a slightly androgynous charm. However, Carla didn't seem to notice that at all and only grew closer to him. I had no time to worry about them anymore. My gaze fell on the date circled in red on the calendar, and my eyes began to well up with tears. Today marked two years since Grandma passed away. While she was alive, she had asked to have her ashes scattered at sea so she could drift wherever she wanted.Today, I could finally fulfill her wish. I carefully pulled the ceramic urn from the bag, only to find it spotless. There wasn't even a speck of dust on it. A bad feeling suddenly came over me, and I quickly opened the urn. It was empty, save for a note inside. "Got you! Haha! Yours tr
