"That special scent came back to me; the fragrance that drove me crazy from the first time I smelled it. Now I knew without a doubt who was wearing it. The smell was irresistible, but the person wearing it was quite a handful."

"I'm sorry, love. Don't pay attention to my cousin; she's from the countryside and thinks many things are wrong. Don't mind her."

I nodded to Naomi. She didn't seem like she was from the countryside at all. She appeared very educated and intelligent, a bit snobbish and haughty. "It's okay, dear. Tell me when we'll go to the doctor."

"We can't do it yet. My father must not find out, or he'll kill me. My mother will take me to a trusted doctor, someone who won't spread the gossip until after we get married."

"I agree, Naomi. In two weeks, I'll come to ask for your hand. It will be during the clan gathering, where all the packs will be present. I'll announce our engagement and upcoming wedding."

"Really, love? You'd make me the happiest woman in the world. You don't know how I feel, Edward."

"I'll make you even happier, Naomi. You've given me the best gift in the world. It's almost impossible for a beta and an alpha couple to become parents; it's almost a miracle, and everyone should know."

"My body shivered completely when I heard him. I don't think it would be the best idea. They're about to appoint you as the Supreme Alpha, so it wouldn't be well” received. After the wedding would be better, even if rumors spread, you'd be married, and they won't be able to do anything, don't you think, Edward?"

"The call ended before I could say another word. I laughed at Clara's attitude; she knows what she means to my life. Suddenly, my body felt hot, but I didn't take it seriously. Maybe it was because of the sun combined with the anger consuming me."

"Girl, you're very red. What's going on with you?"

"It's because of the anger consuming me, Clara. Don't worry."

"If you say so. Now, tell me."

"I told her every detail of what happened. Clara couldn't believe what she heard. So, we decided that I would stay with her until my birthday and then I would go study abroad, as I had planned. Without delay, my birthday and the pack meeting arrived. We were obligated to attend, but we managed to escape from that boring gathering."

"Look who's here, my lost sister. Who invited you, you pathetic loser?"

"I'm not pleased to see you either, Naomi. I came because it's an obligation, not because I wanted to. Congratulations, you've reached where you wanted to be. Your mother must be delighted."

"She's very proud of me, over the moon. You mean nothing to her, and Dad is the same. It's as if you never existed, Anastasia."

"I knew her words were true; I couldn't deny that it hurt, but I didn't show it. I walked towards Henry and Clara without looking at anyone else."

"That scent again, damn it! I can't lose control. The woman I love is a beta and she's with me tonight. I can't let myself be driven by instinct; I can control it."

"Sir, everything is ready."

"I'll be out in five minutes, make sure Naomi is near the stage. It'll be the best night of my life, and no one can ruin it, especially that insipid odd woman."

"I don't know why they make us come to these gatherings. The clans dissolved many years ago, and we live peacefully with regular people without bothering anyone. This seems ridiculous to me."

"Stop grumbling, Clara. No matter how much you do it, we won't achieve anything. Be patient, we'll leave as soon as the new Alpha's presentation is over."

"What Ana says is true, we gain nothing by whining. It's better to wait a little and leave afterwards to celebrate! Don't think you're getting away tonight."

"I know, I just hope nothing goes wrong tonight, that the presentation ends quickly, and we can run to the forest."

“I heard the applause as my name was mentioned. With some nerves, I approached, trying not to show my nervousness. I made a brief introduction, and as I scanned the audience, I saw that woman again. I tried to ignore her and continue, but her scent was suffocating me. Unintentionally, I looked at Clara, and she was more than excited. I thought, 'This night must end well!”

“Guys, I feel weird, we need to leave. It must be time for her to come out”.

“Really? Henry, we should go.”

“Yes, I felt it too. Give Ana this inhibitor, Clara. It will help her until we reach the forest.”

“I couldn't understand what they were saying. I tried to concentrate but couldn't. I walked to the bathroom while they were still discussing. There was so much noise, but then I found a place where it was quiet, and... that scent. Where is it coming from? I searched for the source of that intoxicating fragrance until I found it, and my world went completely dark”.

"I don't know why, but my body was burning. My RUT shouldn't be here yet. I tried to take an inhibitor but couldn't do it when I sensed her scent. That woman is nearby. My fangs were itching, my mouth was salivating, and another part of my body reacted to that intoxicating fragrance.

Entering that room was my downfall. I don't remember anything after finding the person with that exciting scent. Is this what it's like to find your destined mate?"
