Chapter 3

“Open my eyes, yeah,

it was only just a dream,”

- Just A Dream by Nelly

His forehead was resting on mine, his hot breath on my cheek. His blue eyes filled with love, pride, admiration and just pure love. His hands were wrapped around my waist and he was pulling me into the non-existence space between our bodies.

“I love you Scarlett.” He whispered.

“Really?” I whispered back, looking into his ocean blue eyes for confirmation.

“Yes.” He said and kissed me. His soft lips against mine. I was surprised but responded. Our lips moved in sync. I reached up and tangled my hands in hi soft bronze curls and tugged softly, causing him moan a moan that sent shivers down my spine. One of his hands moved higher and tangled in my hair on the back of my head. He licked and nibbled on my bottom lip. I moaned and tugged on his hair. He smirked and lowered one of his hand that was still on my waist to the back of my thighs and lifted me up, making me wrap my legs around his waist.

We broke the kiss and he started kissing down my jaw. I leaned back to give him more access to my neck and pulled him closer to me. He started walking towards the bed, softly putting me onto it and crawled to me, leaning his head on my chest with his arms wrapped around my waist. He brought his hands up and caressed my belly with his head still on my chest. I smiled.

“Can we have pups?” he said still caressing my belly.

“Maybe.” I said and ran my fingers through his bronze hair.

“I’ll take that as a yes.” He said, looking up at me and giving me a kiss on my lips.

The alarm next to my bed went off. I groaned and sat up. Way to be interrupted. I looked around my room. It was just a dream, I assured myself.

Just a dream.

I walked to the bathroom, scratching my butt and head at the same time. I did my morning routine and wore a long sleeve shirt. My scars from my last cutting were gone right after I washed the blood off them.

I went downstairs and started cooking for the pack. After cooking, I cleaned the living room and went back up to my bedroom. I sat next to my bed and looked at the calendar. Tomorrow was Caleb’s birthday. I rubbed my eyes.

Tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day he would find out that I’m his mate. Tomorrow is the day I would have to do more work than ever! Tomorrow was Caleb’s birthday.

I groaned and covered my face with my hands. I’ve noticed that I’ve been groaning a lot. I have been distant from everyone. Hiding up in the attic so no one would find me, they were always lazy to climb the stairs. I went downstairs and started making breakfast for the pack. After making breakfast, I decided to stay in the attic rather than go to school. I don’t know why but I decided to stay in. So I technically skipped school. For the first time. I laid down on my bed and closed my eyes. Trying to relax. I couldn’t so I had to do another thing that made me relax.

Dance.

I stood up and went into to the back of the attic to search for the old boom box. Once I found it, I put it on my bed and pressed play. I swayed along to the rhythm and started dancing and choreographing at the same time. Once the song was done, I stopped. Sweat was dripping down my forehead and I was panting. The dancing made me loosen up and relax. I sat down next to the boom box, still panting. I reached up and wiped the sweat of my forehead.

Scenes from my dream came flooding back to my mind. I shook my head, trying to rid it of the steamy moment I shared with dream Caleb. I stood up and pressing the boom box and changing the music. I turned on a pop one and started dancing to the beats. After I finished dancing, I noticed that there was a smile on my face. Dancing always made me smile. I soon found myself laughing for no reason. Laughter just continued to make its way out of my mouth without my permission. I collapsed on my bed and continued laughing like crazy.

At last, I felt a bit of happiness. I wanted it to last forever because being happy is so fun and it feels great to pull at your face muscles into a smile.

I stopped laughing and started breathing hardly. I ran my fingers through my hair and smiled. I should stay strong. I should be smiling more.

“Scarlett!” Caleb’s voice floated up the stairs. Why would he be calling for me?

I stood up and quickly patted down my hair. I ran downstairs and bowed at Caleb when I reached the last step.

“You were asking for me Alpha?” I whispered. “I want you to train with everyone else out there now.” I opened my mouth in shock looking up at Caleb. They never let me train but I do watch their moves and learn by myself. “But, I haven’t shifted.” I lied. He smirked. “Then you’ll have to try and fight back with wolves.” No. I’ll prove myself in training. I will not shift into my wolf and I will also not be a punching bag during training too.

“You cannot fight back.” Caleb said, as though he could read my mind. I smiled. Just another way to feel more pain. “Yes Alpha.” I said and gave him a small smile. I wanted happiness but I knew happiness wouldn’t last.
