The moment the words left her mouth, Aiden’s hand shot out and grabbed her wrist in a firm, possessive grip. His fingers were strong, almost bruising as he pulled her closer to him.

“You will not go,” he ordered, his voice low, deep, and dangerously calm.

Lucy’s heart skipped a beat. She tried to pull her hand away, but his grip only tightened.

“Sir, let go of me,” she whispered, though her voice lacked conviction.

Aiden stepped closer until their bodies were almost touching. His intense gaze burned into hers, filled with raw jealousy and something much darker — hunger. “You’re not going anywhere with Mr. Luca tonight,” he commanded, his breath warm against her ear.

Lucy’s breath hitched. For a moment, the arrogant, cold CEO had vanished, replaced by a man who looked like he was barely holding himself back from claiming her right there.

She swallowed hard, trying to ignore the heat spreading through her body.

Lucy requested a few days off. Instead of going home, she found herself standing in front of an exclusive boutique she had passed many times but never entered. The glass doors slid open, welcoming her with a rush of cool air.

“I need something… different,” she told the sales assistant.

The woman assessed her with a knowing eye. “For work?”

Lucy’s lips curved slightly. “For war.”

The assistant led her through racks of luxurious fabrics — silk, satin, and daring cuts. When she held up a deep oxblood dress with sharp lines that promised both elegance and danger, Lucy’s fingers brushed the cool material. A memory of Aiden’s voice surfaced — telling her she looked better in darker colors. She clenched her jaw.

“Perfect,” she said.

The next day, Lucy walked into Aiden’s office wearing the new dress. The moment she stepped inside, he froze behind his desk. His gaze traveled slowly down the length of her body, lingering on the way the fabric clung to her curves, before rising back to her face. For a brief second, something raw flashed in his eyes — then disappeared behind a cold mask.

“Red doesn’t look good on you,” he said flatly.

The words stung. Lucy clearly remembered him once saying the opposite. She forced a professional smile. “I’ll keep that in mind, sir.”

Aiden cleared his throat and shifted to business. “We have a meeting with Mr. Rogers this week. He’s one of our biggest clients. I need you to stay focused.” He paused, his eyes narrowing slightly. “I trust you’ll behave yourself this time… Miss Lucy.”

“Of course, sir,” she replied with zero emotion.

The meeting with Mr. Rogers proceeded on the surface, but Lucy sensed something was wrong. The client was too evasive about payments and long-term commitments. She made a mental note to dig deeper into his file later.

That evening, Lucy had asked Aiden for permission to attend a high-profile industry party. She had told him she might not show up at the office the next day if the event ran late. To her surprise, he had agreed. What she didn't know was that Aiden also attended.

The party was everything she expected — loud music, crystal chandeliers, and wealthy businessmen in tailored suits. Lucy drank more than she usually did, not out of carelessness, but out of a deliberate desire to push boundaries. The alcohol loosened her inhibitions. She stepped onto the dance floor and moved with slow, deliberate sensuality, fully aware of the eyes on her — especially Aiden’s.

She danced freely, hips swaying to the rhythm. A well-dressed man approached her, smiling confidently. He leaned in close, his hand reaching for her waist as if to carry her off the floor. Before he could touch her, a strong grip closed around her arm.

“Not happening,” Aiden growled, pulling Lucy firmly against his side. “She’s with me.”

The man started to protest, but one cold look from Aiden made him back off. Without another word, Aiden guided — half-dragged — Lucy out of the venue and into his car.

“Where do you live?” he asked, voice tight.

Lucy, heavily intoxicated, only laughed. During the entire ride, she kept muttering naughty words and curses at him.

“You think you’re so powerful, don’t you… arrogant bastard,” she slurred, poking his shoulder. “Always acting like you own everything… including me.” She giggled drunkenly. “Bet you wish you could fuck me right now, huh, boss?”

Aiden’s jaw clenched so hard she could see the muscle ticking. “Shut up, Lucy.”

But she didn’t. She continued teasing him with slurred, provocative remarks until they reached the hotel. Aiden had decided not to take her home in her current state. He booked a suite, carried her inside, and helped her remove her heels. He laid her gently on the large bed, his movements careful despite his obvious frustration.

Lucy fell asleep almost immediately.

She woke up in the middle of the night, throat dry and head spinning. Aiden wasn’t in the room. She stepped out and saw him emerging from another room down the hall. A woman quietly closed the door behind him as he adjusted his shirt. Their eyes met for a brief, painful second before Lucy turned and walked back into their suite, chest tight.

A few minutes later, Aiden entered. “It was nothing,” he said immediately. “It’s not what you think.”

Lucy shrugged, trying to appear indifferent. “I don’t care. You can be with whoever you want. I’m just your personal assistant.”

But Aiden kept explaining, almost angrily at himself for feeling the need to. He had only gone to ask the woman — a hotel staff member with medical training — for advice on how to properly care for someone who was drunk. He handed Lucy a glass of warm water.

“Here. You need to stay hydrated.”

She drank slowly. The room fell into heavy silence. Aiden’s eyes stayed on her, too intense, too focused. He stepped closer and gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face. His fingers lingered on her cheek. Lucy’s breath hitched.

He tilted her chin up with his thumb, his touch surprisingly tender. Their faces moved closer — slowly, hesitantly. She could feel the warmth of his breath against her lips. Aiden’s gaze dropped to her mouth, dark with unspoken desire. Lucy’s heart hammered wildly. For a long moment, neither moved, suspended in the electric tension between them.

Then, just as their lips brushed — soft, tentative, barely there — Aiden exhaled shakily and pulled back. He turned away, running a hand through his hair.

“Go to bed, Lucy,” he said, voice rough. “No excuses for being absent tomorrow.”

He moved to the couch across the room, putting deliberate distance between them. Lucy lay back down, her lips still tingling from the ghost of that almost-kiss. The restraint he had shown only made the pull between them stronger.

The next morning, they avoided speaking about the previous night as if it had never happened. But the tension simmering between them had grown dangerously thicker.

When they arrived, he held her hand firmly as they walked into the grand dining room. His mother was already seated at the head of the table, with Victoria beside her. The moment Aiden and Lucy entered, his mother’s face lit up.“My darling!” she exclaimed, rushing forward and pulling Aiden into a tight hug, completely ignoring Lucy’s presence.“Come, come!” She dragged him away excitedly. “Congratulations, my darling,” she whispered.Aiden gently removed her hands. “Mom, I came here with my fiancée.” He walked

Aiden walked into Lucy’s office and closed the door behind him. The tension between them had been growing for days, and he couldn’t take it anymore.“Babe, you weren’t taking my calls or replying to my texts,” he said, voice laced with worry and frustration.Lucy didn’t look up from her laptop. “I was busy,” she responded coldly.Aiden stepped closer, studying her. “This isn’t like you, Lucy. You don’t even look at me anymore.”He reached out to gently cup her face, but Lucy quickly turned her head and pushed his hand away.“Ethan, please,” she said sharply. “We’re at work and I’m busy.”The moment the name left her lips, the air in the room shifted. Aiden froze. Lucy realized her mistake too late. She stood up abruptly, avoiding his eyes. “Excuse me.”Without waiting for a response, she grabbed her files and walked out of the office, leaving Aiden standing there, stunned and hurt.He stared at the door long after she was gone, jaw clenched. Lucy and Aiden’s romance had blossomed even in the office. Stolen kisses behind closed doors, teasing touches under the conference table, and lingering glances that spoke volumes. One afternoon, Aiden pulled Lucy into his office, shutting the door behind them. He backed her against his desk, hands firmly on her waist as he kissed her deeply. Lucy chuckled against his lips.“Ethan, stop,” she whispered, slightly breathless. “Someone will walk in on us.”Aiden didn’t pull away. Instead, he held her tighter, his voice husky. “I don’t care if anyone sees us. I can’t get enough of you, babe.”He kissed her again, more urgently. Lucy melted for a moment before pushing gently against his chest.“Okay, okay… what about later this evening? Or after work?”Aiden turned her around so her back pressed against his front. He kissed the side of her neck, hands slowly rubbing her thighs. “Why wait?” he whispered hotly against her ear. “I want you right here.”Lucy laughed softly, shivering at his tou

The rain poured heavily as Aiden drove like a madman through the flooded streets. His knuckles were white on the steering wheel. He wasn’t angry that Ethan had been sleeping with Victoria. He was furious that his brother had dared to touch Lucy. That he had deceived her in the dark, impersonating him, using his face, his name.“I’m not him,” Aiden muttered through gritted teeth. “I’m not that loser.”He hated sharing the same face with someone so reckless. He hated that Ethan always got away with his stupidity while he carried the weight of the entire family. When he finally reached Lucy’s apartment, she was already standing outside under an umbrella, almost as if she had been waiting for him. Aiden parked roughly and called her phone.“Come into the car,” he said, his voice cold and heavy.Lucy hesitated for a second before sliding into the passenger seat. Raindrops clung to her lashes.“What’s the problem?” she asked softly. He didn’t answer immediately. He simply stared at her, eye

Victoria's heart was racing with excitement and lust. Tonight was supposed to be perfect. She tiptoed toward the private guest room where they had been meeting, but when she opened the door, the room was empty and dark.Frowning slightly, she adjusted her coat and walked further down the hallway. Maybe he was waiting for her in the main bedroom. She pushed open the door to Aiden’s master suite and froze.Aiden was sitting at his desk, focused on his laptop, the soft glow of the screen illuminating his sharp features. The moment he looked up and saw her standing there in nothing but lingerie and an open coat, his expression darkened instantly. His mood plummeted.“Victoria?” His voice was cold. “What the hell are you doing here?”She smiled seductively, ignoring the hostility in his tone. “You weren’t taking my calls, baby. I had to come see you.”Aiden leaned back in his chair, jaw tight. “What do you want?”Victoria stepped closer, letting the coat fall completely to the floor, reveal

  • I loved him until his brother    Chapter 11: Desperation

In the days that followed, Aiden became noticeably colder toward Victoria at the office. He barely spared her a glance when she visited, and during phone calls, his responses were short and professional. “Victoria, I’m in a meeting,” he would say flatly before ending the call. His rejection was public and humiliating. That evening, Victoria lay naked in Ethan’s arms inside the guest room at the villa, her body still glowing from their intense lovemaking. Ethan’s fingers lazily traced patterns on her bare back as she rested her head on his chest. She lifted her gaze to him, eyes searching. “Why are you so distant with me in public? Even at the office… you treat me like a stranger. Are you just using me as a bedmate while your heart is somewhere else?”Ethan smirked, playing with a strand of her hair. He was quick to manipulate the situation. “You don’t understand, Victoria. I have to keep up appearances. The office, the board members, the investors — they can’t know about my secret lif
