By instinct, I try to pull my arms out of his grip. He won’t let me. My struggle is barely shaking his posture as he cages me tightly to his chest. “Easy now, little mouse,” His grin widens, “You haven’t even heard my proposal yet.”

“You are a total jerk!” I hiss at him.

“That I do not object,” He lets out a light laugh, as if my curse was meant to be a joke.

He is just the bully he was when I first met him! I have been successfully dodging him these years that I forgot what a danger he is. He is heartless and shameless and crafty and evil! He is everything opposite of Hector!

But I can’t get off this ship now.

I peek at the guests, and the fear of getting dumped at the altar twice in a day grips my throat.

It’s one thing if the groom had an emergency and couldn’t show up, but it’s another if I grabbed a random guy onto the altar, only to cancel the wedding after I said my stupid vow already!

The wronged feeling stings my eyes wet.

He tilts his head to the side, curious to see whether my tears are genuine. I look away, biting my lips so the tears won’t fall. I don’t want to give him the satisfaction.

“For a year, you can’t divorce me,” The devil speaks.

And I glare at him, waiting for the rest of my bill.

There is none.

“Just that? Why...?” I grumble at him, suspecting that this easy loop to jump is just another lure for an even deeper trap.

“Why...?” Damon Dunn laughs, this time at my cheap tears and how easy he could get to me. My eartips burn hotter. “...let’s just say, because I have a reputation to maintain.”

Not a good one. I didn’t know he would care.

He narrows his fox eyes dangerously at me, “Unless you were planning to marry me today and divorce me tomorrow, just to throw a tantrum in your dear Hector’s face?”

Not to throw a tantrum. But other than that part, yeah, pretty much.

“I can help you with your company,” I dodge his eyes that are seeing through my plan, offering, “Your company is not profiting, and your father is upset at it, no?”

Jack Dunn is still the current head of the Dunn Empire. To test his two sons for the throne of the heir, he gave each of them a small company to see what they are made of. Hector’s has been thriving where Damon ran his into the dirt.

That’s why I dared to deal with him. This is a deal he can’t refuse.

“Like how you have been helping with my brother?” This time, Damon Dunn lets out a snort, a cold aura spouting out of him.

What’s so wrong about helping my own fiancé?! Damon Dunn said it as if I did some horrible thing.

“Do you want it or not?!” I snap, my tone sour at his stung.

“Fine,” Damon Dunn shrugs with an annoying smirk, “I’ll take both.”

“You can’t have the cake and eat it!” I huff, all but rolling my eyes in front of the cameras. What’s this jerk thinking?!

“In that case,” Damon Dunn chuckles, “I choose a year of marriage with you.”

Ughhh!!!!

What’s in it for him to keep a fake marriage with me for a whole year?! Did he think that Mr. Morgan would invest in a dying company just because his estranged daughter suddenly decided to marry a wastrel?! He won’t!

But the guests start whispering.

I close my eyes: “Fine! A year and nothing more!”

A soft, tender peck lands on my lips. I open my eyes wide in shock, and the pastor also frowns--

“Mr. Dunn, you kiss the bride AFTER you take the sacred vow.”

“Sorry,” Damon Dunn grins without even a shred of guilt, “I got too excited at my cute little bride. I mean, yes, of course I do.”

The minister moves on with the process, and I can hardly think about anything else except that kiss. Well, barely a kiss, but still! I have never even looked at another guy besides Hector since my 15th birthday, and now I kissed a man when I was still Hector’s fiancée only yesterday!

...Hector is my yesterday now.

I married myself to the devil to make sure of that.

“Are you thinking about HIM?” Holding my hands as if he has always been my boyfriend, my fiancé, my groom, and now my new husband, Damon Dunn leads me on the aisle like an honored general showing off his trophy.

People cheer, too.

That’s the thing about the upper class-- no dirt is left on the table.

They knew my groom dumped me as much as I did. They knew I went up to the altar with a different groom only to save my dignity. They knew Damon Dunn as the shame of his famil,y that he is.

But they applaud like none of these are true.

“I’m thinking about that kiss,” I stop by the door, and there is visible pleasure in the womanizer’s eyes--

“Really? I’m so honored--”

“...and here is your reward!” I give him a fake smile, stomping on his foot as hard as I could.

Finally I wiped the smirk off his annoying face.

Damon Dunn lets out a suppressed groan, his arm on my waist tightens in pain. And like the upper class he is, he puts back on that perfect smile without rubbing his foot in front of everyone.

Welcome to the Upper East Side. You swallow pain and put on a winning face no matter what.

“Next time you kiss me without my consent,” At his pain, I find my smile much genuine now, “you won’t get off this easily!”

To my surprise, Damon Dunn laughs out loud. First time genuinely today, it seems. “Looking forward to it, Aurora Morgan,” He lets my name linger on his tongue as if tasting it, “...my dear little wife.”

“Tanya!” I shout, grabbing the stupid dress in my hands as I dash to the limo waiting in front of the hotel, can’t wait to get away from this nightmare. But when I reach the limo’s door, I can’t help but look back at the devil I left behind.

With his arms open, Damon Dunn smiles at the media that instantly swallows him. He glances in my direction, and his lips curve up. I can’t hear what he is saying, but none of the media sharks is coming after me now.

For a second, I taste guilt in my mouth. I wouldn’t have, if he didn’t embrace my abandoning him to my battlefield this gracefully.

He charges at Damon Dunn, who just remains where he is without a blink. And Hector stops in front of Damon Dunn, letting out another angry growl at the failed intimidation.Apparently, they both know who would win in a fight.“I thought so, too...dear LITTLE brother,” Damon Dunn snorts coldly. All simple words, but somehow he was able to infuse them with the vicious poison of humiliation, and that finally pushes Hector over the edge.“Fuck you!” Hector jumps at Damon Dunn, waving his arm to the heaviest as he could, but Damon Dunn dodges easily with a taunt--“Small swings, brother. I can see your punch from a mile away.”He talks casually without breaking a sweat, but at the same time he throws another heavy punch, exactly where he did before. Hector goes crazy and starts punching and kicking everywhere. They wrestle into each other and all the furniture around them. For a

I watch the face I once loved barking words at me in the meanest way possible, and all the good memory of it seems like a dream that never existed.Am I the one who is at fault here? I wouldn’t know, I never got that loving family.I guess at the end of the day, it was just an unfortunate coincidence.I put my wedding over my estranged sister’s life, and my fiancé put her safety over my humiliation. We both got what we chose. End of story.“You care about Amber more than you care about me, that’s all. So why don’t you just marry Amber and--” I see clearly now, and I want to end things on an understanding tone, but somehow the words hurt more when I say them out loud than when I cooked them up in my brain, and my tears beat my tongue to it.“Not this again, please!” Hector rolls his eyes to the back of his head, grunting like a trapped animal, “This is why I didn’t w

He brought me fucking jeans! If he wasn’t carrying two big boxes and a bag for the three pieces he so “kind-heartedly” fetched, I would really suspect that this is all just a huge prank on me.“...” I glare at him with a plaintive, desperate death stare.I just lost my will to live. Seriously.“Don’t look at me like that. These are good stuff, I swear!” He laughs, opening the boxes for me himself, “Rag & Bone. New season limited edition. Catalog one, page eight.”I know. I like their stuff. Quality is their thing.Amber likes the princess style, and she likes her stuff to be unique. So to avoid me and Amber sharing the same or even close-looking clothes, mother always goes to Rag & Bone for me.The question is, how did Damon Dunn know? And have a newest set at hand no less.“Bonus of having a little sister who asks me to buy her stuff all the time,” He smirks as he rips the bag right open, “I haven’t got time to give her these.”Well, there goes the chance to gift them again.“

Gripped by fear, I freeze, staring through the thin slit between the door right in front of my face as if I could see through wood. I can’t, but Hector is not coming in our direction; I can hear his steps.Letting out a long breath, I finally have some spare mind to realize the awkwardly intimate position we are in.Damon Dunn still has both his hands on me, and I can feel his muscled stomach against my back.Too close.I try to wiggle out, and by instinct, he tightens his arms.“Kitten, behave,” The man’s warning tickles my ear, “You keep squirming against me, and you will wake up something that you really don’t want to.”I could feel blood surging to the tips of my ears at the dirty indication. Thank God he didn’t turn on the light, or he would see them scarlet red.He can’t see, but I forgot, human has other senses--The man lets out a light chuckle, tilting his head a little in the dark, the tip of his nose brushes through my ear as if by accident. But I know he did that because h

I’m having a serious introspection on the stunt I pulled on my wedding now, because I find myself stuck in a car, with a man I barely know, who required me to strip.Get my wedding ruined by Amber...or this?I didn’t think I would ever choose the first, but now I’m leaning toward.“You are kidding, right?” I glare at Damon Dunn, trying to see through his annoying smile of a mask.I can’t tell what this man is thinking. No one can. He can smile when he is angry, and he can maintain a cold face when he is not.“You gave me a problem, and I simply provided a solution,” The man shrugs, grinning at me.Yeah, I said I’m not wearing the appropriate dress for a formal dinner with my in-laws, and his “solution”, is telling me he has a dress prepared, in the back seat.We are literally parked in front of the manor right now! A few feet away from the living room! Where people are!How is me changing in his freaking car a solution to anything?!Besides, I used my inappropriate clothes as an excus

He, is, abundant. In all senses. He wasn’t lying about the showing off part.Just estates in the big apple, he has five. One manor in the suburbs and one penthouse in the city center, the location is more than what money can buy. Not to mention the stocks, bonds and all kinds of fancy words that basically just shout out “money”.I don’t really understand most of them, nor do I care, considering I’m not really sharing half of them. All the mountain of files gives me is dizzy head and fuzzy eyes as Damon Dunn flashes each of his trophies in front of me with a description--“Mostly birthday presents, some of them winning of bets,” he smirks visibly more when he said “winning of bets”, apparently the wins mean more to him than what he actually got, “...and prizes, too.”“Prize of what? What kind of prize could be called as ‘asset’--” I grab the last piece of paper in the “prize” pile, finally intrigued in all this tedious work, “100,000 dollars?! For--?!”“That’s nothing!” Damon Dunn robs
