In our pack, every werewolf can create one moon stone in their lifetime. These stones can enhance our wolf's power and are crucial for becoming Alpha. In my past life, I worked tirelessly to craft my moon stone. I wanted to become our pack's Alpha more than anything. But on the day of the Alpha selection, something went terribly wrong. After absorbing my moon stone's power, I couldn't control my wolf. Instead, my wolf submitted to Katherine, my mate's stepsister. Katherine hadn't always been part of our pack. When she was alone and vulnerable, my mate, Beta Ethan, had convinced me to accept and care for her. The pack erupted in cheers as Katherine became the new Alpha. Ethan, who had always claimed to love me deeply, proposed to Katherine in front of everyone. They sealed it with a passionate kiss. Suddenly, I was public enemy number one. Everyone accused me of stealing Katherine's moon stone, saying that's why I couldn't control its power. Even Ethan, my mate, looked at me with disgust. "Thief," he spat, severing our mate bond on the spot. The pack turned on me. They chased me down, their teeth tearing into my flesh. As I lay dying, my body broken and bleeding, I saw Ethan and Katherine together. They nuzzled each other, whispering sweet nothings while my life ebbed away. In my final moments, I realized a cruel truth. While Ethan's wolf was my fated mate, his human heart belonged to Katherine. But even as death claimed me, I couldn't understand. How could the moon stone I crafted serve Katherine instead? Then, darkness. And light again. I opened my eyes to find myself back in time, one week before the Alpha selection. This time, I made a different choice. Instead of crafting a moon stone, I left the pack to train alone in the volcano. Ethan's voice filled my head through our mind link. He demanded to know why I'd left the pack at such a crucial time. I cut the connection without a word. Shifting into my wolf form, I jumped into the lava.

Chapter 1

1

Our pack, descendants of ancient werewolves and witches, possesses a unique ability. Each member can craft their own moon stone, a powerful artifact that enhances our wolf's abilities. We get one chance in our lifetime to use this stone to elevate our wolf's rank.

Moon stones can boost a wolf's healing ability, speed, and strength. The most potent ones can even transform an Omega into an Alpha.

In my past life, a week before the Alpha selection, my mate, Beta Ethan, said to me, "The Alpha selection is coming up soon. Among the young wolves eligible this year, you're the most talented. Your moon stones always have the best effects."

"It's a shame my stepsister doesn't have your skill in crafting," he continued. "Her stones only increase healing by 10%. She's my closest family. As my mate, you must help her more."

Pleased by Ethan's words, I eagerly agreed.

While studying an ancient text Ethan had given me, I discovered a secret. Using the crafter's sharpest wolf fang in the process could significantly enhance the moon stone's power.

Ignoring the excruciating pain, I pulled out several of my fangs to experiment.

The results were astonishing. The moon stones I crafted were twice as powerful as ordinary ones.

While average stones only boosted healing by 10%, my fang-crafted stones could elevate an Omega to a Beta, even offering a chance to ascend to Alpha.

Our pack hadn't seen such powerful moon stones in 70 years.

Enduring bone-deep agony, I extracted my sharpest canine, hoping to create the ultimate moon stone.

And I succeeded.

On the day of the Alpha selection, I confidently brought my moon stone, ready to amaze everyone.

My stone indeed had the power to create an Alpha wolf - but not for me. Instead, it chose Katherine.

As I prepared to absorb the stone's power in the arena, my wolf suffered a severe backlash. The stone then flew into Katherine's wolf, instantly transforming her into an Alpha.

Everyone knew that in our pack, only self-crafted stones were effective. Forcibly absorbing another's moon stone would result in a painful rejection, marking the wolf as a slave to the stone's true owner.

Katherine smirked, "I wondered where my Beta moon stone had disappeared to. Turns out you stole it."

"Who would've thought that stealing my stone would make you my slave?" she added mockingly.

News of Katherine crafting a top-tier moon stone unseen in 70 years spread quickly. The entire pack rushed to witness her ascension to Alpha.

My wolf trembled weakly nearby, tormented by the slave mark.

As people congratulated Katherine on becoming Alpha, they didn't hesitate to kick me and spit insults.

"Hah! We thought she was some genius crafter, but she's just a shameless thief!"

"Emma's so stupid. Of all things to steal, she chose someone else's moon stone. Serves her right!"

"But wow, the Alpha is amazing. I couldn't even dream of crafting such a powerful stone..."

Their words cut deeper than any physical blow.

Those who had always been overshadowed by me now unleashed their jealousy without restraint.

Fifteen years of hard work, and all I had to show for it was being labeled a thief.

Permanently nailed to the pillar of shame.

Tears fell as I tried to explain, but the stone's rejection left me speechless.

Katherine looked at me with disdain, her words dripping with false sympathy. "Emma, you've broken pack law. You stole my moon stone. You're a criminal. As the new Alpha, I must punish you. Only then can your sin be cleansed, and you might be allowed to stay in the pack."

I looked to Ethan, standing beside Katherine, hoping he'd clear my name. He'd been with me throughout the crafting process. He knew I wasn't a thief!

But Ethan didn't even glance my way. His voice was cold as he said, "This thief doesn't deserve to be my mate. I, Ethan, reject you, Emma, as my mate."

I felt our mate bond being violently torn apart. My wolf howled uncontrollably in pain.

Amidst the pack's cheers, Ethan wrapped his arm around Katherine's waist and kissed his stepsister passionately!

In my dying moments, I finally understood. Ethan's wolf might have been my fated mate, but his human heart belonged to Katherine. He had willingly marked me only to ensure I'd care for Katherine, teach her to hunt, and help her craft moon stones.

Katherine shot me a triumphant look before ordering the surrounding werewolves to attack me. She even led them in burning me with torches.

Blood poured from my wounds, the fire-induced injuries weakening my wolf so much that I couldn't even heal.

"Emma, you're a pack criminal," Katherine declared. "Only the purest flames can burn away your sin. Only then can the pack accept you again."

"You just wanted to be Alpha too badly, that's why you stole my stone. It's okay, I don't blame you," she said, burning me again with her torch.

The agony of my charred flesh turned my eyes blood-red.

The pack praised Katherine for being strong and just, truly the most suitable Alpha.

I collapsed to the ground, utterly hopeless.

I never stole anything! That stone was my creation!

But before I could speak, pack members threw me into Shadow territory to fend for myself.

As I lay dying, someone knocked me unconscious and tossed me into the pack's incinerator.

Flames consumed my body, leaving nothing but ashes.

When I opened my eyes again, I had been reborn to one week before the Alpha selection.

Ethan held me in his arms, his eyes full of love and admiration. "My little wolf, my sister can't compare to you. You're the most skilled moon stone crafter in our pack."

I snapped out of the memory of being burned alive, my heart pounding.

A whirlwind of emotions brought tears to my eyes.

I had died, yet here I was, alive again.

But the agony of my death and the sting of betrayal lingered, etched deep into my very bones.

Ethan, oblivious to my inner turmoil, continued, "You must craft your stone carefully these next few days. Become our next Alpha."

Fighting my body's trembling and the urge to slap his hand away in disgust, I forced a smile.

"Of course, dear. I'll do my best."

I'll do my best to uncover the truth of my past life.

In my previous life, even as I approached death, I couldn't understand why the Beta moon stone I crafted with my own hands served Katherine instead.

Where had it all gone wrong? I couldn't figure it out.

This time, I won't use my fangs to craft that Beta moon stone. That should prevent any issues, right?

This time, I will change my fate!
