Alpha Herveaux POV

Comprehending what just happened was far from easy. Auriel just challenged my supreme powers. I never saw her come to that. Not even after she would become my luna. That bravery was not from her. She appeared to be influenced or intoxicated. I accepted her challenge anyway.

"Beta Fernando," I called out to him instantly. "Change the verdict for today’s ceremony, invite every legal citizen and occupant of the packs under my rule," I request. Beta Fernando couldn’t believe his ears. "Do not crave my indulgence, Beloved Alpha, but I must ask this," he bowed worriedly.

"Why the sudden change? You claimed you saw a vargulf attack us when we celebrated Tala’s birthday, you had to end the party abruptly due to our safety, which was being threatened."

"Why the sudden change?" he asked.

"I am a capable and competent Alpha, the security of my subjects would remain top priority, but then I would never chicken out; whoever wants to fight me should do so publicly," I pronounced
