"You—it's been so long!" Laura looked delighted to see her college friend, Mark.

Meanwhile, the man who had intended to harm Laura walked away ahead of her, realizing his wicked plan could no longer proceed.

Mark, who seemed to sense someone was about to harm Laura, quickly approached her. At first, he didn’t even realize it was Laura Brown whom he knew.

"Yeah, I didn’t expect to see you here. Out at night—aren’t you afraid someone might try something bad, Laura?" Mark asked, glancing at the man who had now distanced himself from them.

"Try something bad to me?" Laura gave a bitter smile. In her heart, she thought that everyone had already done her wrong.

"If someone did, maybe I wouldn't be safe right now. But Mark—what are you doing here? I heard you went abroad?"

"Ah, yes. I’m back now, and I think I’ll be staying for good," Mark explained.

They talked for quite a while, and eventually, Mark offered to escort Laura back to her apartment. He was still worried that the man from earlier might try something again.

"You really shouldn’t go out alone, Laura. I wasn’t going to say this, but I think someone is planning to harm you," Mark said, explaining a little of what he had witnessed before deciding to approach her.

Laura fell silent at those words, unconsciously placing her hand on her belly. Seeing her reaction, Mark became even more certain that something was troubling her. But he knew he couldn’t force her to open up.

What kind of problem was his friend dealing with?

"Just call me if you need help."

Mark handed Laura his business card and took his leave.

Laura entered her apartment, still visibly shaken by what Mark had told her.

"Michelle... could it be her? I already disappeared from William’s life—why would she want to hurt me... or... my child?"

"If it really is her, I won’t let Michelle hurt me or my child!"

The next day, William had already found out where Laura was.

She hadn’t gone far from the city, which made it easy for him to track her down.

William went straight to her apartment. However, Michelle was already waiting in front of the building, making him stop briefly.

"Will, what’s wrong with you? Why won’t you see me?" Michelle asked angrily.

"Get out of my way, Michelle, or I won’t be nice!"

"Why are you like this? Are you really going to forget all the love we shared?" Michelle hissed, even more furious now that William clearly despised her.

"Love? Don’t be ridiculous! I’ve realized I have no feelings for you anymore, Michelle."

"Are you saying you’re truly in love with Laura?" Michelle asked, not wanting to believe it.

"Maybe," William replied.

"You’re mine, William. Only mine! Laura was just a temporary replacement! Are you really going after her?"

William clicked his tongue in frustration. He didn’t want to entertain Michelle anymore, but if he ignored her, she’d keep pestering him.

"Yes, I’m going after her. I will still make her my wife!"

"She’s pregnant with someone else’s child, Will! Why do you still want to keep her?"

"That’s my business, not yours. Laura’s departure must have something to do with me, Michelle. You slapped my wife! What did you say to her that made her leave me like that?"

Michelle bit her lower lip. She couldn’t admit that Laura might be pregnant with William’s child. That was exactly why Michelle had slapped her sister—out of rage.

William knew Michelle wouldn’t answer. The handsome man already sensed something was off.

He knew Laura would have left him if he had given her the divorce papers, which was why, to this day, he had never planned to file for divorce.

William wanted to keep Laura, even if he didn’t understand why—why he was clinging to a wife who had cheated on him, even gotten pregnant.

In the end, the man hurried into the car where his driver was waiting, completely ignoring Michelle as she begged him to stay.

Michelle growled in anger and even screamed—William had truly abandoned her now.

"Laura, you must disappear forever!"

Now, William stood in front of Laura’s apartment.

He pressed the doorbell until Laura opened the door. She was shocked to find William standing there.

She tried to shut the door again, but William stopped her.

"What are you doing here, Will? Oh—if it's the divorce papers, I’ll send them to your office," Laura said, catching William off guard.

"Divorce? We will never get divorced, Laura!"

Laura let out a bitter laugh and looked at him coldly.

"Are you joking right now? You already divorced me first!"

Laura stepped back into her apartment and showed him the divorce papers he had already signed—the very man who now claimed he wanted to keep her.

"This...?!"

“You! You are a heartless, ungrateful child for putting us in prison!” Beckett hissed, annoyed by Laura's words. “We raised you, even allowing you to marry William — Michelle's lover — but you made him yours! And now you want to put me in prison?’Laura snorted angrily at her biological father's words. She could no longer contain her frustration; it was as if she were always to blame for everything.'Raised? I grew up with the Browns, not because of you, but because of the nurse who has looked after me since I was a child. Unfortunately, you fired her when I was in middle school, so I had to live on my own after that. I never felt your love, and neither did the woman who is your wife now — the one I once considered my mother. But it turns out…? I’m happy with the facts as they are. All this time, you've only cared about Michelle, and Michelle alone. I'm just another person in this house. So don't pretend you're a good father to me! You raised me as a parent!” Laura retorted.Beckett a

"That's true, but there's also another will that you know about. If you cause Laura to suffer or even die before the specified age, all assets will be given to a charitable foundation. And what you are doing now is already causing Laura to suffer, because of your daughter Michelle's selfishness. Now, consider handing everything over to Laura, or we will make the public aware of what you have done to Laura. You yourselves started exposing family issues in the media, so we will end this through the media as well. However, if you choose to surrender and grant Laura full rights, we will not publish this in the media. You know yourselves how it will end, with every decision you make," explained Marko.Beckett couldn’t accept everything Marko had said. How could he possibly hand everything over to Laura, since he’d have nothing left afterward? The wealth they’d accumulated would vanish. However, Beckett remained calm in the face of Marko, Laura, and William. It seemed he already had a plan

Currently, William and Laura are at the Brown family residence, followed by Marko walking behind them, having just arrived by car. From inside the house, Shofia is surprised to learn that Laura and William have arrived, along with Marko, whom they have been searching for. Beckett, who has also just received news of his son and daughter-in-law's arrival, immediately descends from the upper floor, from his office with Nolan.Laura smiled at their surprise, confidently looking at her father, who was still glaring at her disapprovingly.“Father… don’t you miss me? Your expression is really hurting me,” Laura said, then walked into the living room without permission, sitting on the sofa there. William and Marko followed her.“Mr. Marko? Why didn’t you come to see me?” Beckett asked, more interested in Marko’s presence.“So you could bribe me?” Marko exclaimed, causing Beckett to fall silent. “From the start, I’ve never shared your goals, because I’ve always been on Vivian’s side,” Marko co

‘Mother is doing better now; she just needs to recover. How about you, the company?’ asked William. Laura was already by his side, returning to the Anderson residence."Thank goodness, I'm glad to hear that Mother is doing well. The company, just as I suspected, Kendrick would rather have my father in that position. Will, honestly, I don’t mind if someone else leads the Ashdorf company, but Grandfather asked me to do it. I always thought this issue would never be resolved, especially since the two companies he wanted were actually mine?”“Your father is reaping what he sowed. Whatever you experienced while with them, they will feel the same. So don’t feel guilty or sinful about what you’re currently fighting for. Mr. Dominic has placed great hope in you, and so has Mrs. Vivian, because I’m sure they feel guilty for letting you stay with someone who doesn’t love you, who only uses you,” said William, trying to make Laura stronger to face all the problems she’s currently facing and will

Kendrick left Laura’s room, his irritation at her words plain to see. More than that, what he had hoped for—that Laura would fall into depression or feel crushed by everything that had been done to her—had not happened as he had expected. The man was frustrated and angry, yet he had to control himself and be patient, for if he didn’t, everything he had done would completely fail, and he would be unable to help Mr Beckett secure the highest position in the Ashdorf Legacy.Meanwhile, Laura let out a deep sigh, leaning back as she considered what steps she should take next. Facing those who disliked her, she wasn’t certain she would be able to manage it.“Mr Marko?” Laura murmured, remembering him. To this day, he had yet to take action to reclaim what was rightfully hers. She thought that perhaps both matters could be dealt with at once, since her opponent in both cases was the same—her own father.“What is Mr Marko waiting for?” Laura said afterwards. Now, she was simply waiting for Mr
