Chapter 3

MICHIGAN POV

I've been serving my husband and my sister like a servant. Damien's love for me has finally gone weak, and I won't blame him for it.

After spending that intimate night with Clara, he has drawn so close to her that he protects her like a lion would do to his mate.

Damien never leaves her sight. He attends to Clara's wants and desires without blinking.

And as for me, I'm now my kid's sister's maid.

Clara now bosses me around like she's older than me. At times I get mad at her nonsense and remind her of her place as my kid sister. But Clara has grown wings. She no longer considers me as her big sister. I'm more of like a slave to her.

Soon, great news came in from Clara. She reveals that she's pregnant and my husband couldn't hold back his joy by embracing her.

I felt pleased to hear the news. Damien is going to be a father.

But my heart shattered when I saw Damien kissing Clara's face with joy, right in front of me. He didn't care about the fact that I was standing right before him. He just didn't care.

I left them both to enjoy their company while I soaked my pillow in tears, regretting my decision from the start.

"Pull yourself together Michigan. It's just for a few months. After that, all will be better again," I said, giving myself hope.

I can understand why Damien will be so excited. This is the news he has been craving for a long time.

I couldn't give it to him without having a miscarriage, but Clara is doing it. She's bringing in the joy he has been longing for.

As the days flew by, my heart and joy came reviving again.

"Just a few months to go and Clara will have her baby. Then Damien and I can be together again," I smiled, feeling glad.

To remind Damien of our love, I planned a dinner for the both of us in the dining room.

Damien went to the office and should be back soon, while Clara... I couldn't tell where she went off to. Lately, she has adopted the habit of moving about as she wants.

And somehow, I didn't bother calling her to find out if she was okay. I just concluded that she's fine.

Just then, I heard the sound of a car pulling outside the house.

"That's Damien," I said, making my way to the entrance to welcome him.

But when I arrived at the door, I found Damien carrying Clara in his arms, both laughing with joy.

"What is this?" I asked them at once, finding the sight inappropriate.

Damien and Clara gave me the nastiest glare I've ever seen before. It left me feeling shocked.

Carefully, Damien dropped Clara down and held her hand right in front of me.

I could see how Clara lifted her shoulder with pride, acting like I was a nobody.

"It's good that you are here, Michigan. Go to the bedroom and arrange it beautifully for my bride and I."

"Bride?!" I exclaimed out in shock.

"Yes, bride," Clara confirmed, showing off her ring.

"You... You got married to my sister?" I questioned, staring at the ring on both Damien's and Clara's fingers.

The ring I gave to him on our wedding day is missing from Damien's ring finger. It's now Clara's ring.

Damien ignored my question, walking past me while pulling Clara along.

Raged, I dragged Clara back roughly, forgetting she was pregnant.

"Hey!"

"MICHIGAN!"

They both yelled at me, but I couldn't take this nonsense anymore.

"I've been acting blind to all you two have been doing in this house. I didn't react because I brought Clara here to be our surrogate for the child, but you went ahead and married my sister?!" I yelled at both of them.

"Who gave you the right Damien?! How dare you marry my sister without my consent!"

"Isn't this what you wanted, Michigan?" Damien questioned me, holding Clara closely in his arm.

"You brought your sister to make me a better man. I'm doing just as you want and you're yammering?"

"That doesn't give you the right to marry her! She's my sister! I am your wife!"

"Point of correction my dear sister, " Clara said, proudly showing me her ring again. "I am his wife."

"Shut up, Clara! How dare you speak to your older sister like that?"

She scoffed at me.

"I took care of you when our parents died. I did everything for you and you chose to pay me like this?" I questioned, reminding her of all the things I've done for her in the past.

But Clara didn't care. She held Damien close and said, "No one begged you to do it, Michigan. You're the one who chose it that way. Just like the way you decided to unite me with the love of my life."

Damien kisses her in my presence and it sparked my rage.

" I will not share my husband with another woman!"

In fury, I grabbed Clara away from Damien's hold, landing a slap across her face.

"MICHIGAN!" Damien yelled at me, hitting me across the face in a flash.

My eyes grew large. Did Damien just hit me?

"Don't you ever raise those filthy hands against my wife! DON'T EVER!" He warned while Clara held him close like a child.

I was frozen by Damien's action.

"Damien, you hit me."

"And I'll do it again if you try to hurt my wife and unborn child, " He threatened, grabbing me by the arm roughly.

"I can see you're jealous of Clara. You're jealous because your sister can carry her pregnancy and cross the first two months, while you couldn't do that."

"Damien." Tears came welling in my eyes, hearing him speak of my miscarriages.

"Mark my words Michigan. If anything should happen to my child, I will end you. You'll regret ever marrying me in the first place. Understood?"

Damien tossed me hard to the ground. I fell, breaking into tears.

"Let's go, my love, " I heard him say to Clara.

I turned back and saw my husband and sister walking up the stairs.

"God, what have I done?”

I hope Michigan has learned that the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know. But Clara did her sister dirty though...
