After the divorce, she had no money and no family. How could she survive in the future?

'Forget it. When she was at her wit's end, she would finally ask me for help.' Miguel thought and finally took his focus back to work.

Ximena took a taxi back to the small villa where she lived with Miguel. This villa had witnessed all the sufferings she had gone through in the past three years.

The memories were so miserable that she never wished to mention them anymore.

Passing through the small garden in front of the gate, Ximena went straight upstairs to pack up and just couldn't wait to leave.

However, just as she made her way to the first floor, a beautiful lady in the hall gazed back at her.

In a snow-milky dress, the lady greeted Ximena with a gentle smile. "Hello Ximena, I haven't seen you for quite a while."

Ximena was short of words immediately. She had never expected to see Tania right here in the villa.

I've just divorced Miguel, and Miguel instantly gave Tania the key to the villa we both shared. Did he already plan to let her move into this house?

He dotes on this woman. No doubt about that.

The thought made Ximena feel sick. She then leisurely walked down the stairs with a smile.

Seeing Ximena's imposing aura, Tania froze for a moment and a smirk slightly moved up the corners of her mouth again. "Ximena, it's only been a few years since we last met, but you've become more and more like Mrs. Ricardo."

"Oh, I made it sound wrong." Tania covered her mouth and smiled awkwardly. "I forgot you and Miguel already had a divorce. You're no longer Mrs. Ricardo."

Knowing Tania's aim was to embarrass her and get her annoyed or feel bad, Ximena didn't lose her temper. Instead, she smiled brightly.

"I've been tired of Miguel Ricardo. If you like things I dump, just go get it. But don't be too in haste to act like a bitch."

The moment the words left Ximena's mouth, Tania's smile froze, and a ferocious look gradually appeared on her face.

"Miguel and I love each other deeply. If it weren't for you Ximena, I would have been married to him a long time ago. You are the one who should be disgusted!"

Ximena glanced at her sarcastically and said, "You'll get to know if you are just a bitch soon."

After finishing her words, Ximena was unwilling to stay at the villa any longer. She bypassed Tania and planned to leave when her wrist was suddenly grabbed.

She turned around and saw Tania's Pretentious face. Her eyes were as red as a rabbit's as though she had been greatly wronged.

"Ximena, I'm sorry. I've always regarded you as a good friend. I just want to meet you this time. I'm trying to be kind. I didn't know you were divorced. I don't feel anything malicious against you. Don't be angry, please."

"Wow, you're two-faced."

Ximena sneered and shook off Tania's hand when Tania abruptly fell to the ground with a scream.

With her painful Scream, People from afar would think Ximena had pushed Tania hard.

"Tut, it's interesting."

Ximena looked at Tania coldly and thought. If she made it right, Miguel returned and watched them by the door at this moment.

As expected, a man's growl rang from behind Ximena.

"What do you think You're doing!"

Walking into the hall with large strides, Miguel helped Tania up.

Then, he looked at Ximena disappointedly and viciously, saying, "I thought you would restrain yourself after the divorce. I didn't expect you to be so despicable. You Disgust me! I planned to give you this villa and put it in your name, but now it seems I don't have to do so."

"Miguel, don't blame Ximena. I infuriated her, so she pushed me accidentally. It's all my fault. Please scold me instead."

Leaning weakly in his arms, Tania looked guilty and sobbed pitifully, but when she glanced at Ximena out of the corner of her eyes, there was a hint of victory in her eyes.

Looking indifferent, Miguel said to Ximena in a commanding tone, "Apologies to Tania immediately!"

'Tsk, he wants me to apologize?'

Seeing the two of them all lovey-dovey, Ximena gazed at them up and down then, smiled, and gently pulled Tania who was in Miguel's arms.

Miguel thought that Ximena would be angry and argue with him. He didn't expect her to be smiling.

Looking at her suspiciously, Tania couldn't figure out what Ximena was trying to do. She let Ximena pull her up and then stood in front of her without any resistance for a moment.

Smack!

"Oww!"

Screaming more shrilly, Tania covered her swollen face and fell firmly to the ground.

Ximena had Slapped Tania with all her strength, and her palm was a little numb. It could be seen that Tania was in great pain because of the ferocity of the Slap.

Smiling faintly, Ximena was surprisingly calm. She acted like she wasn't the one who had just Slapped Tania.

She looked down at Tania on the ground and said gently, "Since you said that I Bullied you, how can my evil deeds be solidified if I don't slap you? I needed to truly bully you, Tania."

Tears welled up in Tania's eyes as she sat weakly on the ground, sobbing softly.

Miguel didn't expect Ximena would hit Tania in front of him, so he'd forgotten to hold onto Tania for a moment.

Looking gloomy, he glared at Ximena threateningly and said, "Not only did you not apologize, but you even made things worse! Are you testing my bottom line?"

"You're overthinking, Mr. Ricardo."

Waving her hand repeatedly, Ximena smiled more brightly.

"After all, we were once a couple. Before I leave, I'll give you another grand gift!"

As she spoke, she took out a thick stack of copies from her bag before throwing them at his face.

The snow-white paper flew all through the air.

Miguel picked up one copy conveniently and saw text records on it, which were all full of sarcastic and insulting words. The sender sounded arrogant. As he silently read the number without any name, he was suddenly taken aback with a sly shock evident on his face.

When he flipped to the back, it showed evidence that he had been drugged last night. The clues were all solid, which showed that Tania was the culprit.

Frowning, he looked at Tania who was lying on the ground, extremely surprised.

Tania had just finished reading the contents of the paper, and her face turned pale.

It was true that she had asked someone to put the drug in his wine, and she had called him, asking him to meet her at the hotel. However, she didn't expect that the driver would send him back to the villa by accident and let Ximena take advantage of it!

She was so angry that she wanted to send Ximena a text message to mock her.

To her surprise, Ximena dared to confront her head-on this time.

She wondered what Miguel would think of her.

Before she could defend herself, Ximena picked up her packed suitcase, and looked at Miguel, the man she had once loved sincerely, for the last time before leaving.

"Miguel, remember it's not me who was abandoned after the divorce. It's you! It's me who dumped you, and the Ricardo family doesn't deserve me!”

She could still feel the weight of his comforting words from earlier, but they did little to quell the storm brewing in her mind.Tania had kept silent for too long, and now it was as if the calm had been no more than the quiet before the storm.Miguel had insisted on staying the night, refusing to let Ximena face this alone. Now, as they sat together in her living room, Miguel was talking about taking extra precautions for her safety, adding security to her apartment, increasing surveillance around the office, but Ximena wasn't fully listening. She had heard the same promises before, and while she appreciated them, she couldn’t help but fe

Chapter 162: Shadows ReturnThe next morning, Ximena was back to work, sitting at her desk, her hands fastened on the lid of the portable computer, her fingers drumming the wooden top of the laptop. He had seen her typing away again, probably trying to complete the quarterly reports so that the board meeting in the morning would not consume all the time. Her head was not in the numbers; she was constantly thinking about the peculiarities that had been bothering her all week. The first time she’d noticed it, she thought that perhaps she was imagining it. He had seen a black sedan parked across the street from her building for two consecutive days and the face of the driver was hidden behind the tinted glass. It could have been nothing, but then there were the phone calls; two in the last two days; both of which rang only twice before the line went dead as soon as she picked up.She tried to dismiss it as a mere fluke and went on to telling herself that there was really no need for

The numbers, as he could see, were fine, were good, in fact, were more than good. The Group was on its way up again in Antonio’s life. Things were finally getting a little less insane, and Ximena was able to concentrate. This lack of drama seemed to them in some way wrong, even unnatural. Living on a daily edge, ready to face the next storm, she found the lack of tumult... dangerous. But was this not what she had wanted? Her phone was ringing on the desk and she had to remove herself from her line of thinking. A message from Clara lit up the screen: “Meeting at 11:30. But I can’t risk dismissing this if it’s tied to Vega.”Ximena crossed her arms over her chest, easing back into her chair. "You're giving her too much credit. This is Tania we're talking about; a master manipulator. She wants you to believe she's our ally just so she can stay close."Miguel stopped pacing and faced her. She'd spent all morning moving meetings around, trying to make sense of a schedule that had begun to feel utterly meaningless under the mounting threats.A knock at the door pulled her from her thoughts. Clara peeked in, the shine gone now from her face since the events of the past couple of days."Miss Antonio, Gregorio is here," Clara said quietly.Ximena nodded, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Send him in.”Gregorio entered, his ever-practical briefcase in hand. “Morning, Miss Antonio. Miguel should be joining us shortly. We’ve got some developments you’ll want to hear about.”Ximena gestured for him to sit. “Developments?”Before he could answer, Miguel strode into the room, his expression grim but focused.“Let’s hear it,” Miguel said, taking a seat beside Ximena.Gregorio opened his briefcase, pulled out a few files, and laid them across the desk.
