Gin's POV:

"What will we do if someone comes looking for her? Her wounds are serious, which means whoever did it was trying to kill her."

My mate said, matter-of-factly. I looked at her. Her clear blue eyes always pierced my soul. Her long, straight, white hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, exposing her high cheek bones. She had the fairest of skin and her slim frame curved in all the right places. Her nails weren't long, but they're cut to a point. I remember when she told me it was a defense mechanism that everyone ignores, which is why she does it. I touched her hand and she wrapped her long, elegant fingers around my rough ones. I've told her about my past, and she still looked at me as if I was worth a damn.

"Then we'll deal with it."

I said simply. I didn't realize how quickly dealing with it would come. My mate cleaned up the woman's wound and did patch work to keep her from bleeding out. We thought that would've been enough, but her wold wasn't healing her, or at least

  • I was never Human   I've never been weak

Cersai's POV:I had to sit in on a meeting with my father and our warriors. I heard James's parents would be returning shortly. His parents are great warriors and undercover operatives that tend to go "dark" for months at a time. They're some of our top scouts. Apparently, this was their jobs back before James was born. They took a pause on that life when James arrived and waited till he was completely settled into his role as my gamma to take up that position again. They weren't due back for awhile, but my father requested his mother to return to help my mate and her sister. Yanell is a talented warrior, but she also was gifted with magic. Sometimes the Goddess gives certain people certain gifts. She just so happened to get magic. Our magic and witches magic are two different things. Our magic is limited to internal use only. We can't subjugate anyone to our will, nor can we use potions. Witches can use the elements and project their will onto others. The smallest of things can have

  • I was never Human   What is the difference (trigger warning!!)

Continued...My world stopped. Why me? What have I done in this life or the past one to deserve this? Everything slowed as if it was in slow motion. Alpha Nathan's smile was as cold as ever and he had a vice grip on me. I'm not sure what took ahold of me. Instead of crying and wishing to be saved, hoping my mother would come to her senses, I acted. I was enraged. I elbowed him in the solar plex, hard and precise. His chest caved in and I jammed my fist in his face. He ended up letting me go. A fire burned within me that fueled my every movement. I quickly launched myself at the man and kneed him in the nose, causing his nose to gush with blood as he screamed out."YOU BITCH!!!""CALL ME WHAT YOU WANT, AS LONG AS IT'S NOT WIFE!!"I took off running. I didn' wait. I didn't try to negotiate with that woman I once considered to be my mother. There was no point. I ran and ran. Then I realized, I wasn't getting anywhere. The more I ran, the further away the palace became. I stopped, panti

  • I was never Human   Gifts are burdens

Tori's POV: Continued...I stayed huddled up in my room within the palace. I didn't want to be bothered by anything or anyone. I cried everyday, remembering what was said to me from my own mother. She didn't love me for who I was. She loved the idea of me, and when I could no longer hold to that version she saw me being, she hated me for it. The more I thought about it, the angrier I became. A week later, I decided to stop wallowing in someone else's vision of me and hating myself for not being able to conform to it. I got up and left my room for breakfast. It was strange being amongst the people of the royal pack. When I entered into the dining hall, many stared at me, confused as to why I was there. I felt awkward, but refused to cower. That's when I saw a hand lift up, waving me over. It was a boy. He seemed to be around my age, and he sat deeper in the dining hall. I walked over to him and took a sit. He looked at me and reached out a hand for me to shake. I looked down at it, th

  • I was never Human   End of Torista

Tori's POV:Continued...My eyes found my aunt's and her gaze softened by the tiniest bit looking at me, before it reignited looking in the eyes of the alpha. Alpha Nathan dropped his one hand from in front of me, and I immediately moved to run to my aunt and grandmother. I was yanked back by the alpha and fell into his chest. He held me tight by the wrist. My aunt Monica's eyes flashed their silvery fury, and I felt her oppressive aura flare outward. I felt a little unnerved by it. She was always an easy going person. I don't think I even have a memory of her being angry. But in this moment, I could only feel rage ripple off her body. She stepped closer, as did my grandmother."Let go of my granddaughter, right now!"Alpha Nathan sneered, pulling a ring from his pocket."She may be your granddaughter, but as of two seconds ago, she became my wife."He chuckled out, sliding the cold, silver ring onto my finger. He looked back out at them with a triumphant smile."She is mine! Her moth

  • I was never Human   You will always be you

Tori's POV:Over 40 years ago...I sat in my room, gazing out the window with my knees pressed against my chest. I didn't know what to make of my situation. I prayed and prayed to the Goddess to strip me of my gifts, but she has only ignored me. Just the other day, I roamed the library of my pack, in search for a way to rid myself of this curse. I never found it. I did, however, come across Heather. She's technically our librarian/historian, but she carried this air of mystery about her that kinda unnerved me. She stopped me during my search and her words still haunts me.Flashback: a few days ago...I heard the door to the library clack open and then slammed shut. I gazed back to see who it was, but found no one. I turned back around to see a woman staring at me. I jumped. We both had the same gray eyes, but hers felt more lived in, like she could see right into my soul. Her hair is half white and half silver, split right down the middle. It was thick and full all the way down. She s

  • I was never Human   Laws

Kwen's POV:I felt my anger spike. My eyes quickly flashed its golden green color, before I quickly got myself back under control."Elijah."I called out to him. He stepped forward."Eve told me to ask for Calm. Can you bring him forward, please."He looked at me confused. His eyes quickly darted towards the men, then back to me. He nodded. I watched as his hazel eyes turned a crystal blue. I gasped lightly, realizing that this was the first time I met Calm."Hello, Calm."He bowed. "Hello, my alpha."I smiled. "You have beautiful eyes."I went to reach up and touch his face, but Cersai growl behind me. I stopped, rolling my eyes."Don't worry about him."He smiled."It's a pleasure to meet you finally. Eve tells me I need you to calm me. Do you have that gift?"He looked confused by my statement."I have no idea why my aunt would have told you that."I frowned."Hmm... maybe it's a gift you didn't know you had. How about this. Whenever you feel my aura rising, try pushing yours out
