LOGINEZRA'S POV "What is it that you have in mind?" Caelen asked me and I sat up straight, pressing my thumbs gently as I prepared to speak. "I want to be able to move freely. I don't want to be locked in here. I am more than a feeder and I need that understood by everyone in this house." "Ezra, does that mean you have always felt like a prisoner in your own house?"I gulped. "Ezra, do you remember the reason you stopped schooling years ago and I had to home school you instead?" He stroked his chin. "Do you?"I slightly shook my head even though I did remember. "You were bullied, son. You have always been that quiet naive kid from birth. I signed you up for classes but each passing day, you got worse and when the semester ended, your grades flunked. I was worried so I did a little search only to discover that you were being bullied in school."I released the breath I had been holding as the memories washed me down. "I remember how tight you held me as you cried that
EZRA'S POVI came downstairs along with Cole by my side and the first thing...or rather, the person that greeted me was Riven. "Good morning." He moved closer and kissed my forehead. "How was your night?" He added. I was flabbergasted for a few minutes and turned my head sharply to Cole who was making noises underneath with the hope of teasing me. "What? Don't you like it? I thought it might be something you'd love since we are mates." He spoke up and kissed my cheek suddenly again. I bit my lower lip, unable to hide my reaction. It took me by surprise so much that I didn't even know what to say or how to react. "Don't scare him." Lucien warned from the table. He pulled the chair backward. "For you, my darling." He gestured and I furrowed my brows. "They are being exceptionally nice." I whispered to Cole. "Isn't that a good thing? You have four gigantic striking vampires at your call and ready to do whatever you want, isn't that heaven on earth?" "I do
AUTHOR'S POV The door slowly shut. Caelen sat behind the desk and his four sons arranged themselves in front of it, each person taking what seemed to be their specific spots for years. He turned the light to be more bright and relaxed into his chair. He looked at each of them. "Should I get you to start talking or what?" The instruction was directly given to them and they just knew they wouldn't be able to escape it. Dorian went first. He laid everything out, giving Caelan the sequence of events from Voss City forward. The details included the match, locker room, heat surge and the agreement with Ezra. While he was speaking, Dorian ensured to keep his voice leveled all throughout and his posture didn't change. Caelen listened without interrupting and when he was done, Caius took over. "The marks appeared the morning after the heat surge resolved. It's on Ezra's chest and his is a permanent golden circle with a five-pointed star and a claw at the center. Our marks on the o
EZRA'S POVThe dining room however looked slightly different. It had a bit of color, maybe it was the lighting but everything else? Pfft, the same. It had been maintained across centuries by Caelan. There was a long table and rows of a few chairs surrounding it. We sat down. Caelen at the head while the four brothers distributed along the sides. Cole stuck to my side like a glue which I found very comforting. The food was real and good. Caldenmoor food had always been. Caelen never joked with good meals, mostly for me because he could go days without eating as long as he had blood to drink. Regardless of who was eating, whenever need be, the kitchen took its work seriously. An aged woman came out of the kitchen and I recognised her instantly. Ana. Her eyes shimmered upon seeing me and a big smile graced her face. She quickly put the plates on the table and came over to my side and hugged me tightly. Her motherly perfume filled my nostrils, calming my nerves down quickly. "Ezra

EZRA'S POVI yawned and shut my eyes for just a few minutes. The flight was four hours long. I knew that because I counted most of them, even though it was not deliberate. I wasn't sitting there with a clock but my brain had decided sleep was not available so it decided to count. I had the feeling of dread as I accepted my reality that I was returning to that place that I had left with great intention and considerable planning in the back of a private jet with a dead vampire in cargo and my best friend asleep against my shoulder.Cole had been out within twenty minutes of takeoff. I envied that about him. The ability to just...go. To put his head down and let the situation wait while he recharged. I had never been able to do that peacefully. To sleep was even troublesome for me. Dorian was across the aisle with his eyes closed, which wasn't sleep either. I knew the difference after twenty years. Everyone was in their different sitting positions and nobody said anything to each other.
