Chapter 52

Alice sat in the garden of the pack staring at little children who were playing across the fence. Their giggles were infectious, and it made a bright smile appear on her lovely face.

A deep sigh escaped her mouth some minutes later. Her thoughts wandered back to what was troubling her heart. She was so deep in thought that she didn’t even hear Kace’s footsteps approaching.

“Alice,” He called out to her but didn’t get any response. She was still oblivious of his presence.

“Alice!” He called her name again, but a little loudly this time, and she finally snapped out of her daze.

“What are you thinking so deeply about? You didn’t even hear me calling,” Kace asked with curiosity etched on his face.

“Sorry,” she responded, and a slight smile appeared on her face. Alice looked behind Kace to see if Devon was around too, but he was all alone. That made her feel sad and a little disappointed.. She had hardly seen Devon through the past few days. She couldn’t help but miss his presence.
