ANDREA

Waking up to the sound of my alarm bearing loudly, I stood up from my bed groggily and sauntered into the bathroom.

I tried hard not to think about the things going on around me but with the company's anniversary getting closer, I felt myself dreading how fast the days went by.

I've accepted my reality and tried to drown myself in work so I wouldn't have time to think. I still haven't found models for my designs.

They always wanted one thing or the other. It was either they wanted me to introduce them to my brother or they wanted something from my family.

I was paying them for God's sake but they didn't care, my company was just a new company that didn't even have the Dale family backing it.

Sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision in wanting to do things myself. I could just make things easier by talking to my brother to invest in my company.

Ping!!!

My phone buzzed to life as a message from Lexi lit up on the screen.

Lexi: Are you free tonight?

I knew she wa

  • IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER    Chapter 69

ANDREA About twenty minutes later, I heard the sound of a car pulling up outside the villa. Lexi was already halfway to the door before I could even sit up properly. She always tried to handle visitors before they reached the living room, mostly so I wouldn’t feel pressured. But the second she opened the door, she let out a sharp gasp. Then she scoffed, her tone shifting so fast it made my stomach tighten. “What are you doing here?” she asked, almost snapping the words. I froze. Lexi never spoke like that with us. Not to family. Not to guests. Not to anyone unless something was seriously wrong. My heart jumped into my throat. I pushed myself off the couch, ignoring the slight sting in my ribs, and walked toward the hallway. When I reached the entrance, I stopped. Andrew stood there. My father stood next to him. My stepmother hovered right behind them. And between them…looking stiff, awkward, and completely out of place was…Lia. My heart clenched before I could stop it. She

  • IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER    Chapter 68

ANDREA A few weeks passed before I was finally strong enough to stay at home without a nurse checking on me every day. My bruises had faded and most of the swelling around my ribs was gone. I could walk around the house without feeling like my legs were going to give out. I should have felt normal again, but normal was hard to find with the way everyone hovered over me. It started from the moment I woke up. If I coughed even once, Alex pushed open my bedroom door like he had been standing outside waiting. He always asked if I needed water or if I felt dizzy. Sometimes he did not even ask. He just brought things and set them by my bed. I appreciated it, but after the tenth time in a day, it felt like I could not breathe without someone watching. Kate visited almost every afternoon. She would sit on the couch beside me and pretend she was only there to keep me company, but her eyes kept drifting to my movements. If I shifted or winced a little, she straightened like she was rea

ANDREA Alex took a shaky breath and gently let go of my hand. “I should call the doctor,” he murmured, trying to steady himself. “And I need to tell everyone you’re awake. They’ve all been waiting.”He stood up like his legs were barely holding him. For a second, he just looked at me again, as if making sure I was really there and not another nightmare he’d wake from. Then he hurried out of the room. The moment the door opened, I heard voices outside...low, tired, anxious murmurs and then everything exploded into noise. The door swung wide, and everyone rushed in at once. Their faces were pale, eyes swollen, clothes wrinkled like nobody had slept or even gone home in days.My step mother reached me first. Her hands trembled as she touched my arm. “Oh God… Andrea…my child, my sweet child…” Her voice cracked and she started crying again, trying to hide it behind her hand.My dad stood behind her, looking like he had aged ten years. His usually stern but warm face was broken with relief

  • IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER    Chapter 66

ANDREA Opening my eyes felt like lifting a mountain. Everything was blurry at first, bright lights shaping into white ceilings and pale walls. It took me a moment to understand where I was…a hospital room. I frowned weakly. The last thing I remembered was collapsing by the side of the road. I didn’t remember anyone finding me. I didn’t even remember being brought here. My head throbbed as I slowly turned it to the side. That was when I noticed someone sitting on the chair next to the bed, their head resting on their folded arms. Sleeping, or maybe passed out from exhaustion. I blinked a few times, trying to focus. Messy hair. Shoulders slumped. A rough, unshaven beard covering a face I knew too well. Dark eye bags, like he hadn’t slept in days. Alex. A small breath escaped me, shaky and confused. He looked nothing like the sharp and put together man I knew. He looked worn out, almost broken, like he had been fighting the world and loosing. He was right there beside me…like he

  • IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER    Chapter 65

ALEXANDER I drove like a man possessed, not slowing down for a second until I saw the bright lights of the hospital ahead. My heart was hammering so hard I could barely breathe. The moment I reached the entrance, I didn’t even bother to park properly. I just threw the car door open and jumped out. The engine was still running when I sprinted through the sliding doors, my chest tight and my legs feeling like they could give out any second. “Where is she?” I shouted at the nurse behind the counter. “Andrea Dale! They just brought her in!” The nurse looked startled, flipping through a few papers before answering quickly. “She’s in the emergency room. They’re treating her right now...” I didn’t wait for her to finish. I ran down the hall, my shoes pounding against the floor, following the signs that pointed toward the emergency ward. When I reached the door, I was about to push it open when a nurse stepped in front of me, holding out her hands. “Sir, you can’t go in there,” she said

  • IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER    Chapter 64

ANDREA I pushed myself up slowly, my legs shaking under me. Every muscle in my body ached, but I knew I couldn’t stay there. The thought of being found by them again sent a wave of panic through me. I had to move, even if I didn’t know where I was going. The ground was cold and rough under my bare feet. Every step stung as small stones and twigs dug into my skin, but I kept going. I wrapped my arms around myself, shivering from both the cold and the fear crawling up my spine. The forest was silent except for the faint sound of crickets and the crunch of leaves under my feet. The air smelled damp, like rain and soil. Every shadow looked alive, every rustle made me flinch. I kept glancing over my shoulder, half expecting to see someone behind me. I didn’t know which direction I was heading. I just walked, moving through the darkness with my heart pounding hard enough to echo in my chest. Sometimes I tripped over roots or stumbled into branches, scratching my arms, but I didn’t s
