Chapter 26 (b)

“Has he slept?” Christian asked, seeing Hazel as she came downstairs, holding the wooden railing.

“Yes,” she answered, reaching the bottom of the stairs. Meanwhile Christian stared at her, scanning her down with admiring eyes. Her long hair was braided loosely and she was wearing a light pink cotton kurti, along with white cotton bottoms.

She still looked the same, Christian thought, resisting a smile to pop out on his full lips. He loved to find that she did not change anything about her clothing style or hairstyle. As simple as before.

As she came to sit on a couch next to him, keeping her eyes lowered, he put his question before her, asking, “Did you know about his health when you gained consciousness?”

“No, I didn’t,” she answered. His eyes squinted as he stared at her silently. She never lied, so he believed her statement without thinking twice. Before he could ask anything, he saw Irene coming out of her room, holding a jug.
