Chapter 4

Three years ago, Rustin Hart, a provincial governor, got into an accident as he was on his way to an event in Bloomington. He was in a critical condition.

Rustin's eldest son, Tori Hart was introduced to Chad and he went to see Chad in person, pleading for him to save his father.

The injuries sustained by Rustin were too severe and Chad only managed to keep him alive. Rustin needed a second treatment to recover.

However, the second treatment could only be done three years later!

That was why the person on the phone mentioned a promise made three years ago.

"Are you Tori Hart?"

Chad asked doubtfully.

"It's me. Dr. Jennings, you remembered me. Now that three years have passed, I plea for you to treat my father, Dr. Jennings."

Tori said sincerely and humbly.

Tori became the head of the Hart household after his father, Rustin got injured. He also inherited his father's position as a provincial governor.

Tori had all the power in the palm of his hand and there he was, humbly and lowly begging Chad to treat his father.

Should Matilda find out about this, would she still see Chad as a loser?

Perhaps Matilda's snobbish parents would force her to remarry Chad.

Chad thought to himself.

Unfortunately, seeing was believing!

To Matilda and her parents, Chad was just a loser who could only do house chores.

"I'm in Bloomington. Come pick me up!"

"Sure. I will!"

Chad was a man of his word, so he waited at the villa for people from the Hart family to pick him up.

After hanging up, Chad sighed and scoffed at himself.

Was he wrong for longing for an ordinary life?

Was he wrong for wanting to live peacefully with his wife and children?

However, Matilda did not have the same desire. That was why she started seeing him as an unmotivated and dependent loser.

"Since that's the case, I'll just be myself!"

Chad mumbled to himself as he returned to the villa.

On the opposite side of the river from Bloomington was Rivervale, where Hart Manor was located.

Tori organized a convoy to welcome Chad with the highest courtesy of the Hart family.

More than ten luxurious cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars were arranged in two rows. The drivers stood next to the car with their hands folded, looking in the direction of Tori whose hair turned fully white.

The drivers were nephews of Tori. He looked at them and said sternly,

"Watch your behavior today. When you meet Dr. Jennings later, behave well!"

Finally, he glanced at all of them. People who locked eyes with him lowered their heads unconsciously.

All of them thought in silence, 'Who's this Dr. Jennings whom Uncle Tori so highly favored?'

"Get in the car. Let's go!"

Upon hearing Tori's instruction, more than ten of the luxurious cars departed and headed for Bloomington.

After the convoy started, the drivers started talking in a WhatsApp group phone call.

Someone asked, "Who's this, Dr. Jennings? How dare he ask Uncle Tori and us to pick him up?"

"I know a little about this. Three years ago, Grandpa got into an accident. I heard that it was Dr. Jennings who saved him."

"I heard that Dr. Jennings is highly skillful. Many ministers of Kennington were treated by him!"

At that instance, the group call became silent.

They might not know who Dr. Jennings was, but they had to take the fact that he treated many ministers seriously.

There were only a dozen ministers in the country and they were seen as supreme beings!

Being a doctor to those high-level ranking officials, explained how highly the skills and status of Dr. Jennings.

Dr. Jennings was not one to mess with!

The doorbell at the villa rang.

'Who would show up at this hour?'

Chad opened the door curiously to see Celine and John.

Before Chad could utter a word, Celine started scolding him.

"Are you deaf? Why'd you take so long to open the door?"
