Chapter 4

Author: Nameless
"I'd like to see who's brave enough to lay their hands on me!" Sienna snapped, causing those who were about to step forward to freeze in place. "Lydia and I are the real heiresses of the Miller family! The Millers won't let you off the hook if you lay a finger on a single strand of hair on my head."

Quinn reacted as if she had just heard a hilarious joke, pressing a hand to her mouth to muffle her boisterous laughter.

"Have you run out of ideas, Sienna?" she sneered. "Do you really think you can pretend to be a part of my family just because we share the same last name?"

She waved her phone and arrogantly dialed a number, saying, "Let's see if you'll continue being so stubborn once Dad arrives."

A spark of curiosity flickered within me. As far as I knew, Dad was still staying at the church on the island. So, who was the man who would answer Quinn's summons?

A deafening noise suddenly resounded in the distance. The roar of propellers was getting closer by the second, kicking up the dust around the set.

A jet-black private helicopter slowly descended and landed on an empty plot of land near the set. When the door slid open, Dad hopped out of the helicopter, looking a little weary from his travels.

Although he was wearing a tailored suit, his tie was askew, making it obvious that he had rushed over after receiving Quinn's message.

"Who's the idiot who's foolish enough to bully my precious daughter?" he demanded in a low and angry voice, swiftly making his way toward Mrs. Miller and Quinn.

With everyone watching him, he affectionately caressed Quinn's small face. His eyes shone with a tenderness that I had never seen before. The way he looked at her was as if he were admiring the most precious treasure in the world.

"Dad…" Quinn immediately threw herself into his arms. Her voice was thick with faux tears.

"Who are you calling your precious daughter?" Sienna asked.

Confusion was written all over her face when she looked up. Her eyes, which were identical to mine, were full of disbelief.

Only then did Dad turn to look at us. The color drained from his face in an instant when he got a good look at our faces, and his lips began to tremble.

Quinn buried her face in Dad's chest before pointing at Sienna and me and whining, "That's them, Dad! Sienna claims that she's your daughter just because she shares the same last name as us. She wants to take away the role that you got for me through your investments!"

I smoothed down my clothes as I took in Dad's shocked expression.

"Go ahead and tell us, Frank Miller," I said nonchalantly. "Who are your real daughters?"

Dad's lips nearly bled from how hard he was biting it. A layer of sweat beaded across his forehead, but he still couldn't say a single word.

A long time passed before he pulled me to the side and said in a hushed voice, "It's not what you think, Lydia. Quinn is an orphan whom I'm sponsoring. She has severe depression and histrionic personality disorder, which is why I usually let her have her way.

"Why are you being so petty toward a sick person? Just let her have her way for now. I'll explain everything to you once we get home."

I swept my icy gaze across Mrs. Miller and Quinn. Disgust roiled in my gut when I noticed that they had identical features.

Even if Quinn was Dad's adopted daughter, whom he was sponsoring, what would that make Mrs. Miller, who was clad in a shirt with a plunging neckline and whose face was caked with a thick layer of makeup?

Were Mrs. Miller and Quinn supposed to be a packaged deal? Did Dad really believe that he would be able to pull the wool over my and Sienna's eyes with such a flimsy excuse?

I scoffed and ruthlessly swatted his hand away. "She should be in the hospital if she's sick. Others might be willing to let her have her way, but Sienna and I won't give in to her.

"Besides, she's demanding Sienna to be her nude double. How are you going to explain yourself to Grandpa and the Jonas family if we give in to her whims?"

"I only chased you out of Deslano last time because you were still young," I said. "I didn't think that you would return and serve yourself to us on a silver platter."Although Quinn was still pinned to the floor by the bodyguards, she wasn't willing to give up just yet. She looked up at me and spat, "Go ahead! Lay a hand on me if you dare. I'm Mr. York's woman!"She intentionally raised her voice, wanting the rest of the guests to hear her. "I went to Mollins Island with Harry York last month for a vacation!"I couldn't help but laugh. It was true that Harry was a notorious womanizer, but there was no way he would be attracted to a vulgar woman like Quinn based on his preferences. On top of that, the Yorks had been in talks with the Eimeric royal family recently regarding an arranged marriage. It was impossible that they would accept an unpresentable woman like Quinn into their fold.Even if they were somehow involved in a relationship, it was highly likely that Harry was just

Miller Group collapsed not even a week later despite how it used to be a powerhouse in Deslano's business industry. It was like a castle of cards, immediately falling apart when a gust of wind billowed past. The Jonas family acquired all of the Millers' assets overnight, including the extravagant office building, the art pieces that cost a fortune, and the luxury cars and properties that made people green with envy.Sienna and I submitted applications to change our last names to match Grandpa's. There wasn't even an ounce of hesitation within us when we made our decisions. It was as if we were simply tearing an outdated namecard in half, completely severing our ties with the Miller family. However, Sienna wasn't able to keep her real identity under wraps anymore after the incident, and she swiftly amassed a large following online. The people's reasons for becoming her fan were simple. They were impressed by her dedication to prove herself through her own efforts even though she cou

Dad's body went rigid. The color drained from his face as a defeated expression crossed his features. It was easy to adapt to a life of riches after living in poverty, but the same couldn't be said for the opposite. Dad had long gotten used to living a lavish and extravagant lifestyle. It would be a fate even worse than death if he were forced to return to a life of poverty once more.He crawled toward Grandpa and exclaimed, "Please don't chase me away, Dad! I'm willing to work myself to the bone for you! I'll do anything that you ask me to!"His hands shook violently as he grabbed the hem of Grandpa's pants. His voice was thick with tears when he continued, "Besides, I'm still Lydia's and Sienna's biological father. Are you cruel enough to watch them lose their only father?"Grandpa kicked Dad's hand away with a disgusted expression, looking at him as if he were a filthy fly. "I've never lacked people who work hard, especially someone like you who would turn around and bite their

Quinn turned deathly pale in an instant. Although there was a thick layer of foundation on her face, a thin layer of sweat still beaded across her face."Do you really believe that anyone in Deslano fears the Miller family?" Grandpa asked. "The real power that they're terrified of is the Jonases that support the Millers from behind the scenes!"Dad had only grown bold enough to behave so arrogantly recently because he had hatched up a meticulous and malicious plan some time ago.Using the excuse that he wanted to express his gratitude, he arranged a full-body checkup for Grandpa in one of the top sanatoriums in Serafiona. On the surface, it looked like he was just worried about Grandpa's health, but the truth was much more sinister.Dad colluded with the head of a local medical institution to forge a medical report that diagnosed Grandpa with Alzheimer's disease. However, he never could have imagined that Grandpa was actually in tip-top condition. He was incredibly healthy, and du

Grandpa swept his deep and sharp gaze across the set before finally settling on Sienna and me. His gaze was extremely intimidating, causing the people who were restraining us to turn pale and hastily release us. Some of them even stumbled over their own two feet when they shuffled backward in panic."Come here," Grandpa called, his deep voice making it clear that there would be no room for compromise.Sienna and I exchanged glances before hurrying toward him. We then stood on either side of him and locked arms with him.I could feel Grandpa's tensed muscles under his suit. It was obvious he was suppressing his fury."Whose face were you going to disfigure?" Grandpa asked again.Dad had an ashen look on his face. A thin layer of sweat had beaded across his forehead. His fingers that were hidden in his sleeves were quivering uncontrollably. The collar of his expensive tailored suit was drenched with sweat.Meanwhile, Mrs. Miller seemed to be oblivious to what was going on. She trie

Dad visibly stiffened at the mention of Grandpa and the Jonas family. He was simply a son-in-law who married into the family. In fact, the only reason that he had everything that he did was because of the loving husband image that he had created for himself. He definitely wouldn't be able to withstand the wrath of the Jonases if he offended them. It was obvious that he was hesitating with the way he subconsciously brushed his fingers across the buttons of his suit.Just then, Quinn suddenly lost her mind. She pulled out an intricate-looking blade from her pocket and sliced it across her pale arm without any hesitation."Are you not going to help me, Dad?" she shouted in a choked-up voice as she continued hurting herself even more viciously. "I'm just an unloved child! If that's the case, I should just die and get it over with!"Fresh blood spurted from her wounds. They were especially eye-catching under the sunlight.Dad's expression shifted in an instant. The fake smile that he a
