20: RETURN OF A FRIEND

While Alvira mourned her father's loss, Simon sat in his wheelchair waiting for her to resume the day's job. He was earnestly hoping she would come and beg him to take her back so, he could blame her for abandoning him in the rain the previous day, then melt down her punishment and watch her get mad at him for it.

The mere thought of her getting mad at him made him smile unconsciously as he flipped through the day's newspaper, which had never seemed to stop sparking his interest ever since Alvira showed up. In fact, many things had sparked his interest since she became his caregiver, he had begun to find interest in things he had lost interest in, in the past, that is, as long as he had the opportunity to torture her while doing it.

He chuckled to himself at the thought, that was probably why everyone in the mansion admired her and saw her as a competent and efficient worker. The knock on his door brought him back to reality.

He looked up and his smile broadened.
