I had Paige on me, that's what the girl's name is. I could tell by how they yelled her name supporting her.

The ruckus made everyone in the cafeteria come to watch the fight. I tugged at Paige's hair tightly causing her to gasp. I made a quick move and now I was the one on top of her. I was not a warlike person. But I seemed to become more irritable after I got to this town. And I can't control myself.

"Let go of me...!"Paige screamed, while with her hands pulling my hair.

"I'll teach you what is respect!" I gritted my teeth, trying hard to pull her hair too.

Suddenly, someone's strong arms wrapped around my waist causing me to let go of Paige.

"Let go!"I kicked. But the man wouldn't let me go. He had a hold on me.

Then I saw the boy, that boy in the car. He helped Paige, while she cried rubbing her neck. Now I knew that the girl standing next to him in the parking lot is Paige.

Was he her boyfriend?

Suddenly my heart sank into my stomach. Knowing that the boy is Paige's boyfriend frustrates me a lot. So why did he look at me like she liked me a while ago while he has Paige as his girlfriend? And yet Paige said she and her boyfriend ruled the school.

He must be the same bad person just like Paige.

My crush for him soon subsided like a tide, and then came with disgust.

We heard a very loud whistle blow that almost made us deaf. Then there was absolute silence. Oh no. I think I'm in trouble.

"What's happening here?"

The principal showed up and asked in an authoritative voice. Then she looked at me and Paige, "Ladies. This is not a boxing ring! You are fighting in the middle of the hall!"

I looked at Paige, and she was looking at me too. There was anger in her eyes, too much that I could swear I saw her eyes turn black, much more than normal. Paige looked at my bewilderment and drew an evil smile that made me shiver.

"You two." The president pointed to the boy holding me and the other who was holding Paige, who by the way looked furious, but he wasn't looking at me. He was looking at where the boy was holding me.

"You bring the girls to my office." The president ordered and turned away.

The other students returned to the cafeteria until only the four of us were left in the hall. I struggled for the boy to let go of me until he did. I turned to look at him and settled my neck.

He was handsome, tall, and had a very good body from what I could feel he was strong. He was wearing a green shirt and black jeans. His hair was tousled and tousled, sort of as if he had been messing it up himself. I looked into his eyes, he also had a very deep look.

What happens in this town? The people there were all good-looking.

"Come on, we have to go to the principal's office." The boy took my arm, delicately, but I put him away immediately.

I didn't like strangers touching me.

I heard Paige whine, but when I turned to look at them, I found that boy wasn't paying much attention to her.

I turned my head continuing to walk to the principal's office. Shortly after I heard footsteps behind me, and the boy who separated me took up position next to me.

"I haven't seen you around here, are you new?" He asked, smiling.

"Isn't that obvious?"

"Sorry, I didn't know." He apologized, moving a little closer and putting his hand on his ear.

"I'm Connor." The boy smiled and offered his hand. I took it and we shook hands. He was less annoying now.

"I'm Carolina," I said.

We got to the principal's office and I sat in a chair. Paige sat in another next to me. Connor and the other boy, who I still didn't know his name, were standing.

"Very well, ladies, why was the fight?" The principal asked, trying not to sound upset.

"She started ..." I and Paige both said in unison. I stared at Paige with wide-eyed amazement. What is she talking about?

"She pushed me as we went down the hall and then slapped me for no reason." Paige told the principal.

I got angry. What a liar!

"That's not true!" I explained in a hurry, "She is lying!"

The principal snorted, "You know what? Since no one is going to tell me the truth, I will find out myself."

The principal turned around and typed something on her computer. Then some pictures came out of it look like security cameras.

"With these new cameras, now I could know what's happening in school."

The principal found the image of me and Paige fighting in the corridor. She watched the whole thing- I walked out with Anne, Paige pushed Anne, I defended her, Paige slapped me, and then I slapped her as well ...

The principal turned off the computer and looked at me.

"Your first day at school, Miss Lane." She looked very serious,  "They will be suspended for now. I need you to go home and tell your mother what happened. And, get introspective."

What?!

My mom was going to kill me!

"But, Madam..." I tried to plea but the principal interrupt me.

"Paige," she turned to Paige and announced her punishment, "You get detention for a month and you will have to go to school every Saturday to do community services."

Paige yelled and protested. But the principal dropped it. I didn't say anything ... What did I expect? That they give me an award? Buffet.

"Kayler." The principal addressed the boy behind Paige.

 So his name was Kayler.

"Take Carolina home. I know you're neighbors. Take care of her, will you?"

What? There is no way we were neighbors! Can not be!

"Connor, take Paige." After speaking the principal sent us out. I got up at a fast pace and almost ran out of there. If I was lucky I could escape from Kayler and walk home myself.

I didn't want to be alone with him in a car. He intimidated me, and his intense gaze made me forget everything and caused me to think about him so much that, honestly, I didn't want to deal with guys like that.

I knew guys like Kayler. Arrogant, narcissistic, and womanizing. And Paige was his girlfriend. That stupid girl still dared to say that she and he were the ones in charge of this school. This is ridiculous.

After I left the school building, I tried to leave without Kayler, but he grabbed my arms and stopped me. His grip was strong but did not hurt me.

"What's the matter?!" I snapped and turned to look at Kayler. He had a mocking smile on his face.

"Running away?" Kayler asked, amused, raising an eyebrow.

I rolled my eyes. "Of course not ... Oh, and don't bother, I can walk home. I don't need anyone to drive me.Goodbye."

I turned to go on my way but he was faster and took my arm again. His touch was warm.

"I don't think you want to go alone ... The forest is not very safe." He commented wrinkling his nose. He said it as if he knew very well what was in it.

"I don't care," I snapped. Then Kayler's countenance became serious. His jaw clenched a little. His gaze was darkening, just as he had seen Paige a moment ago. This made me feel nervous and hell no I don't know why.

"I see you're indomitable, you don't like to give in, do you?" Kayler asked. "But you, miss Lane, will come with me by hook or by crook."

In the blink of an eye, I was floating in the air. Kayler was carrying me on her shoulder.

Dammit.

"Put me down!" I kicked and struggled but Kayler wouldn't let me go. I heard a car door open, then Kayler sat me in the co-pilot seat and leaned toward me.

"What are you doing?!" I screamed but it turned out that he just wanted to put my seatbelt on. He was so close that I could smell the peppermint on his body.

My face turned red but luckily Kayler didn't see it. He quickly closed my door and got into the driver's seat. This was the jeep I saw yesterday. The seats were fine and almost new.

"I know those who are like you ..." I murmured, as he started the car.

"Oh yeah?" He asked mockingly, as if what I was saying amused him. He started the car and drove off leaving high school behind. I nodded without looking at him.

"They like to tell people what to do. But I'm not like that, I don't like to obey anyone." I snapped," and fighting your girlfriend is proof."

"It's okay, miss Lane, whatever you say." Kayler laughed like I said something stupid.

This didn't sound very convincing. I looked at Kayler with a frown. It's like he doesn't take what I say seriously.

For the next minutes, I was silently watching the forest. We were entering it. I didn't know why Mom had to choose a house in the middle of the forest. It gave me a certain fear. The howl I heard yesterday came to my mind. A chill ran through my body. To be honest, I'm afraid of being alone at home.

"What are you thinking? You looked so pale." The idiot next to me asked. I closed my eyes for a second. I didn't know if I should tell him about the wolf, but maybe he knew if there was or not. After all, he had lived here longer than I have.

"You ... Do you know if there are wild animals in this forest?" I asked, "Like wolves?" Then I watched Kayler tense up and squeeze the steering wheel a little hard.

"I don't know ... I've never seen one." He answered curtly, "Would you be scared if there are?"

I looked at him. The answer was obvious.

"Yeah right if. I live alone in the middle of the forest, and knowing that I am surrounded by wild wolves terrifies me." I confessed in an affirmative tone.

Kayler was silent for a moment, perhaps pondering what he had to say. I saw him pinch the steering wheel. What he was unhappy for?

"That's fine." he whispered, "But don't be scared, nothing can happen to you with me."
